IgE antibodies undeniably can play an important role in conferring immunological specificity to effector cell activation in anaphylaxis and other allergic diseases. IgE binds to the high-affinity receptor, on the surface of blood basophils and tissue-resident mast cells, and other cell types, including neutrophils, eosinophils, monocytes, and dendritic cells, and platelets that induces activation of mast cells and basophils, and the immediate release of preformed mediators such as histamine and various proteases.
