This assignment is divided to 2 individual papers. Each is at least 500 words.
The first is to use this: Refer to HOSS docs 56, 57, 58, 59 (these are : Jesus on Sex and Marriage; Paul on Sex and Marriage; Paul on Sex and Marriage , Again; Jesus on Sex and Marriage, Again.) (all attached)
These texts purport to record either the direct words of Jesus Christ or Paul of Tarsus, though as the text notes the authorship is a matter of some debate among scholars. However, for our class it is important to understand that Christians generally accepted (and still accept) docs 56, 57 and 58 as doctrine.
What sexual recommendations are consistent across these passages? What contradictions do you find? What effect did these contradictory texts have on early and medieval Christian practice?
