Women Crime and Criminal Justice, law assignment help
The percentage of female offenders in the prison population continues to rise. At the same time the number of mothers of minor children behind bars is also rising. Depriving a child of his or her mother is not the only problem related to women in prison. A host of other issues have come to light.
For this discussion we will be looking at the ways in which incarcerated mothers are treated, both historically and currently.
Please respond to the following prompts:
- What four (4) major issues do mothers behind bars face?
- What can be done in today’s prison system to mediate these issues?
- What do you feel should be done with a baby who is born to an incarcerated mother? What is actually done with the baby?
