world history 37
There are many exciting changes happening in Eurasia in this module. New ideas, new people, and new powers.
In this module, you read 4 different primary sources. You met Eusebius, a fourth-century Christian; Han Yu, an intellectual from ninth-century China; Ibn Fadlan, a Muslim traveling to Russian territory in the tenth century; and Chinggis Khan, our Mongol leader in the thirteenth century.
Choose one of these 4 people from the sources. Putting yourself in their shoes (that is, for example, you become our fourth-century Christian Eusebius), choose one of the other 3 primary source times and places and imagine that your historical figure has traveled there (with a time machine, of course!).
For part one of this assignment, please do the following:
1. In your post, identify which historical figure you are.
2. Identify where you are traveling to in time and place (for example, if you are Eusebius be clear if you are traveling to tenth century Russia, or ninth century China, etc. You must choose one of the three other sources to “travel” to).
3. Writing in the voice of your historical figure (assume that person’s worldview and frame of thought), discuss two things that you observe in the society and place you visit. These two things should link to a Big History theme from class. What are your opinions of these people in this other place and time based on the worldview you have from your own place and time? Please be sure to refer to specific examples that you learned about from course module materials, such as the primary source; the Met Timeline; or the videos.
This post should be at least 400 words. This part of the assignment will be due by Friday, April 17th at 11:59 PM
