writing a paper
The articles are How to Tame a Wild Tongue by Gloria Anzaldua and The Walls We Build Around Us by Nick Rowlands
What I do expect you to have here are somewhere around three pages of writing that attempt to put Anzaldúa’s and Rowlands’ pieces in dialogue with each other. Look at each piece and try to find places where both authors are discussing similar topics or addressing similar points, even if those moments are moments of genuine disagreement.
I expect that you will have a paragraph or two in which you look at each of the authors by themselves and think through how and why they write to their particular audience the way that they do, and that each of these paragraphs will include a bit of that author’s writing that you are attempting to explain to your reader.
But mostly what I am looking for here is for you to find reasons for which you can make a good and productive comparison of both pieces that goes beyond pointing out similarities or differences to try to explain why those similarities/differences help us to understand how we ourselves can better understand and cross the cultural borders these authors write about.
