Guidelines:

Use a peer-reviewed research article you understand well. Choose an article in which a lay person would be interested. You can use a research article you have already read for a class.
A peer-reviewed research article will have an abstract, introduction, procedures, results, conclusion sections and a reference section with ten or more references. The journal will have a reasonable list of reviewers.

In two pages, rewrite the research for a general, adult audience, in other words a lay person with at least a high school education. Think of someone like a parent, relative, neighbor, or English major roommate.

1. Use the tips we went over in lecture about writing science to a lay person audience.
2. Avoid jargon, use everyday vocabulary.

3. After you have written it, evaluate every word to make sure the word is not jargon, and can be easily understood by your target audience
