techniques of presentation that you have learned in this class.

You can analyze the
texts we have discussed this semester that illuminate world-views challenging
our Western philosophical assessment of “knowledge” and “judgment.”  The artistic presentations of these texts also
introduce us to “new worlds” that require we broaden our typical analytic
systems of assessment so we may negotiate “meaning” from these presentations.

You may analyze how conventional
genre classifications serve us only nostalgically; since our most interesting
writers delight in flooding the old catacombs and confounding our pedestrian
expectations for, and of, a given genre. Fact or fiction?  Oral or literal?  Criticism or literature?  Aesthetics or analytics? 

The
texts we read this semester present genre distinctions that no longer cut a
clear, clean consciousness of texts.  In
fact, our current discussions of this literature challenge us to advance new
theories of genre, new assessments of the value of generic classifications to
our concepts of language and living.
