This assignment has many different steps to it. Be sure to check off each one so you know that you accomplished it. You will be creating a personal résumé in Microsoft Word, revising your PowerPoint presentation from Week 5 Discussion, and then zipping these files along with your Excel spreadsheet that you created for Week 4 Project into a compressed folder to upload to the Week 5 Project submission folder.

Your résumé will be based upon résumés in your field that you found for Week 3 Discussion. You will include your experiences no matter how few they are at this time. Include what information you have now and you can keep adding skills and experiences to your résumé as you complete classes and change jobs. Below are tips and criteria to meet as you create your résumé.

Tip: You learned about tables in Week 2. Tables are great for creating résumés. Most of the time borders are turned off on the tables after the résumé is created although sometimes a top or bottom border is turned on to separate categories.

Part I: The Resume Create your résumé based on the following criteria in Microsoft Word and save it as W5P_Resume_LastName.docx. Remember that the program will automatically add the extension of .docx. Ensure that the résumé was logically laid out and easily understood Create categories: create distinct separation and identification of important line-item job skills and experiences using bullets or numbers with appropriate application. Have content separation: provide a distinguishing feature that separates one line or paragraph from the others. Modify text: modify default typeface in one line or section and modify the default color or style of a line or section. Modify text size: modify the default typeface size by changing the points in at least one line on the page Create an overall professional look to your résumé. Include a header with your name and include page numbers. In reality, you would only do this if your résumé was more than one page but you are demonstrating your skills in this document.

Part II: The PowerPoint and Zipped Folder Revise the PowerPoint presentation you created in Week 5 Discussion based on feedback you received in the Week 5 Discussion threads. If no suggestions for improvement were made, try something new on a slide and document that. Make sure that you describe the changes you made in the Notes section of the changed slides. If you had not done so before, compress all graphics. Create a new folder called W5P_LastName. Put your résumé, your revised PowerPoint file, and your Excel file from Week 4 Project into this folder and “zip” the folder following directions below to upload one file to the Dropbox. This is a handy way to treat multiple files. Once uploaded, be sure to download and unzip your folder to make sure that it contains exactly what you want in it. Sometimes in a rush, students upload empty folders and lose one-fourth of their grade for the class. Don’t let this mistake happen to you!

* To zip the folder on a PC: Right-click on the main folder (W5P_LastName). From the drop-down menu select Send To -> Compressed (zipped) Folder Attach the resulting ZIP file to your response in the classroom.

* To zip the folder on a MAC: Right-click on the main folder (W5P_LastName). From the drop-down menu select Compress. Attach the resulting ZIP file to your response in the classroom.

Discuss how geopolitical and phenomenological place influence the context of a population or community assessment and intervention.

 Je How do you judge Palin’s quote? [“And who will suffer the most when they ration care? The sick, the elderly, and the disabled, of course. The America I know and love is not one in which my parents or my baby with Down Syndrome will have to stand in front of Obama’s death panel so his bureaucrats can decide, based on a subjective judgment of their level of productivity in society, whether they are worthy of health care. Such a system is downright evil.] Effective strategy to oppose Democrats’ plans for health care reform or unethical scaremongering?

I believe Palin bringing up the ration of care for the sick, disabled and elderly was very important and a very effective way to grab the attention of many Americans. Not every American has a disable family member nor do they have to per say “deal”or worry with all of the medical and financial burdens these families have to take on. I believe Palin bringing this to many americans attention and speak for the people that are unable to speak for themselves was very effective when it comes to making it known they are also worthy of the care that every other “normal” American is able to receive.  Reflect on what informs your judgment: commitment to advance care planning, analysis of facts, and/or political party loyalties? 

It is hard to pick one thing that would inform someones judgement, but I would have to say analysis of facts. It is important to always do your own research and not base everything you believe off of what other people are saying. With that being said, I do still agree with Palin and her advocating for the sick, elderly and disabled people of America but doing my own research also taught me more about what Palin was referring to. I came across this statement “The health reform bill being considered in the House of Representatives says that a Comparative Effectiveness Research Center shall “conduct, support, and synthesize research” that looks at “outcomes, effectiveness, and appropriateness of health care services and procedures in order to identify the manner in which diseases, disorders, and other health conditions can most effectively and appropriately be prevented, diagnosed, treated, and managed clinically.” (2009, Politifact).  It was not solely about and nothing to do with evaluating patients for their worthiness. Is it right for nurses to endorse health reform legislation even if the legislation is not perfect? Does this apply to the recently failed American Health Care Act?

Yes I believe it is very important for nurses to be involved in politics and endorsement of health reforms even if they are not considered to be perfect. Nurses are huge advocates and we have a voice that could speak out make a huge difference.

Practicum Discussion: Culturally aware nurses recognize that states  of health are revealed differently across cultures and ethnicities.  Culture and ethnic background will affect the way each individual  responds to health, illness, and death (Stanhope & Lancaster, 2016).  These nurses are also aware of their own biases, which may affect the  care they provide to others (Stanhope & Lancaster, 2016). Because  most nurses work in institutions with individual patients, they are  accustomed to delivering culturally competent care on a one-on-one  basis. When a public health nurse deals with a population, he or she  must consider how the population culture affects the ways in which the  community nurse may interact. This can be with regard to the provision  of education or mass health care needs such as those required in a  foodborne illness, if mass vaccinations are needed for a communicable  disease outbreak, or if education is required to prevent heart disease.  In addition to understanding the nuances of the culture of a population,  community health nurses must understand the role genetics play in  health. Some disorders, such as glaucoma and diabetes, have a genetic  link, as do some cancers, such as breast and ovarian.

Please discuss the following questions in your Practicum Discussion: Provide a few examples of community resources that should be put  in place to assist your population in resolving their health care  needs. What gaps in service do you see that affect your population? Are there any cultural considerations that might inform your approach to caring for this population? Does your population have a genetic predisposition to the health care problem you have identified? Identify at least one evidence-based, culturally competent  behavior change that would promote health for your selected population  and for the specific health care problem you are addressing?

Create an essay of 500 words, describing the development of industry, business, and labor after the American Civil War. Address the following:   Discuss several of the industries of America’s Industrial Revolution in the post-Civil War period.  What made these leaders of industry successful? Explain the origins and growth of labor unions.  What did Labor Unions accomplish?

Use a minimum of three of the sources provided to support your assignment and be sure to cite the sources.
