Create a 10- to 12-slide presentation that that evaluates and briefly summarizes the various sampling techniques listed in Step 2.

Due: Sunday night at 11:59pm Mountain Time

In this assignment, you will create a presentation that reflects on your proposed problem of interest and evaluates sampling techniques that would create a meaningful study pertaining to this problem.

Step 1: Reflect on your proposed research question or problem of interest.

Step 2: Consider different sampling techniques.

Think about how you would compare and contrast the following sampling techniques:

  • Simple Random Sample
  • Stratified Random Sample
  • Cluster Random Sample
  • Systematic Random Sample

Consider which of these sampling techniques you might employ for your research study. What are the advantages and disadvantages of each?

Step 3: Consider who your audience might be if you were to deliver your presentation in person.

  • What would you want them to know about this topic?
  • What would you expect them to already know?

Step 4: Create a 10- to 12-slide presentation that that evaluates and briefly summarizes the various sampling techniques listed in Step 2. Describe the sampling technique(s) you will use in your research and explain how your choice of sampling technique(s) will help you to create a meaningful study cohort.

Address the following questions in your presentation:

  • Who/what will your proposed sample consist of?
  • How will subjects be recruited?
  • Are there any special considerations about your population of interest that might pose barriers to obtaining a sample?
  • What are the advantages and disadvantages of the sampling method(s) you plan to use?
  • What potentials for error and bias related to sampling exist?

Step 5: Review your presentation to ensure that you are using best practices for formatting slides.

  • Include a title screen and summary screen.
  • Avoid making slides too text heavy or dense with text. As a guideline, limit text on each slide to five bullet points of six words each.
  • If using graphics, be sure that they are professional, reinforce your points, and are not used merely for decoration.
  • Be sure to add what you would say if delivering the presentation to a live audience in the notes section of each slide.

Make sure that the format of your presentation is professional and visually attractive. Cite any sources in APA format.

What type of argument is being presented? How does that differ or coincide with the fallacy form? What fallacy or fallacies are present in the Coalition of Concerned Scientists’ claim? What are the ramifications of the fallacy or fallacies within this scenario?

Step 1: Consider the scenario:

Scientists from the Coalition of Concerned Scientists claim that fresh water is going to be the scarcest resource on the planet in 50 years. This claim, though alarming, is based only on a single study performed in the Appalachian Mountains over a span of 10 years. The study involved testing the percentage and availability of fresh, drinkable water along the mountain range once every April for 10 years. The study has many citizens concerned this could mark the beginning of a slippery slope, and many are beginning to think irrationally about how to maintain an abundance of clean water. As a well-respected environmental blogger, many have come to you looking for answers, and while you may not have the solutions they want, you do believe you can prove that the Coalition of Concerned Scientists study is riddled with fallacies.

Step 2: Examine the presence of fallacy.

Create content for a two to three-page (minimum) blog entry aimed at easing the anxiety of your readership, address the following statements:

  • What type of argument is being presented? How does that differ or coincide with the fallacy form?
  • What fallacy or fallacies are present in the Coalition of Concerned Scientists’ claim? What are the ramifications of the fallacy or fallacies within this scenario?
  • By what criteria can you distinguish between arguments and fallacies? In the case of the Coalition of Concerned Scientists study, what improvements would transform this into a viable argument?
  • Are there any logical fallacies present in the scenario? If so, explain. How can you discern logical fallacies within an argument?

Step 3: When you have completed your assignment, save a copy for yourself in an easily accessible place.

Cite any sources in APA format.

discuss who you believe to be at the highest risk for MRSA outside the health care environment? Explain. Discuss the common fomites or transmission factors involved as well as preventative measures the public can do to reduce or prevent MRSA infections.

Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) is one of the more prevalent nosocomial infections in healthcare facilities today. Any patient with a compromised immune system or open wound is susceptible to contracting MRSA from medical staff or given family members. Although MRSA is commonly connected to health care facilities, MRSA can be found anywhere.

For your initial post, discuss who you believe to be at the highest risk for MRSA outside the health care environment? Explain. Discuss the common fomites or transmission factors involved as well as preventative measures the public can do to reduce or prevent MRSA infections.

educational program that supports the implementation of risk management strategies in a health care organization.

  1. Introduction: Identify the risk management topic you have chosen to address and why it is important within your health care sector.
  2. Rationale: Illustrate how this risk management strategy is lacking within your selected organization’s current risk management plan and explain how its implementation will better meet local, state, and federal compliance standards.
  3. Support: Provide data that indicate the need for this proposed risk management initiative and demonstrate how it falls under the organization’s legal responsibility to provide a safe health care facility and work environment.
  4. Implementation: Describe the steps to implement the proposed strategy in your selected health care organization.
  5. Challenges: Predict obstacles the health care organization may face in executing this risk management strategy and propose solutions to navigate or preempt these potentially difficult outcomes.
  6. Evaluation: Outline your plan to evaluate the success of the proposed risk management program and how well it meets the organization’s short-term, long-term, and end goals.
  7. Opportunities: Recommend additional risk management improvements in adjacent areas of influence that the organization could or should address moving forward.

Have you thought about what kind of care you would want if you could no longer speak for yourself at the End of Life? Give example

Mrs. Thomas is a 54, year old African American widow, mother and grandmother, who lives with her daughter and four grandchildren (ages 12, 10, 7 and 5) in a 4 story walk up apartment. She is an active member of her church community and friends, comments that she had so much energy that she exhausted all of them just being around her. At age 51, she was diagnosed with non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma. Busy with raising her grandchildren, a little more than 3 years went by before she sought attention for her symptoms and was diagnosed. Despite aggressive treatments with chemotherapy and radiation, her diseased progressed and she was considering undergoing a bone marrow transplant. Climbing the stairs to the apartment one afternoon she became very short of breath and collapsed. Her twelve, year old granddaughter called 911. At the hospital she was minimally responsive and in severe respiratory distress. She was intubated and transferred to the ICU. A family meeting with the oncology and ICU team was called to discuss Mrs. Thomas’s advanced condition, the fact that she would probably not survive further treatment of the lymphoma and to decide on goals of care. Fifteen family members arrived, including her daughter, pre-teen granddaughters and grandson, three nieces, four nephews, several friends from her church and the minister. On being asked that only the immediate family participate in the meeting, the family and friends became angry and insisted that all of them be involved in this discussion.

Discussion questions:

What is your impression regarding this scenario? What are some concerns you have with this case and what do you anticipate would happen? Support your answer.

Have you thought about what kind of care you would want if you could no longer speak for yourself at the End of Life? Give examples.

How would you handle all the family members and friends wanting to be included in the discussion?

  • Give the questions some thought and answer honestly.
  • Give examples if you have them
  • Cite resources
  • Number your answers to correspond with the question
