There are three cluster of personality disorders. Cluster A, Cluster B, and Cluster C personality disorder. Under cluster A personality disorder shows behaviors that are mistrusting and unusual such as suspiciousness, social detachment, eccentric, and distrust. The behavior categories are schizoid, paranoid, schizotypal personality disorder. Schizoid is the inability and lack of wanting to form relationships. Schizotypal personality disorders are odd thought patterns, very on guard for attacks on others, and they never blame themselves. Paranoid has similar symptoms to schizotypal, lots of mistrust, and always on guard. Cluster B personality disorders consists of narcissistic, antisocial, and histrionic symptoms. Narcissistic is the lack of empathy, self-promoting and grandiosity. Antisocial is inappropriate anger, suicide or self-mutilation, and impulsiveness. Histrionic is the tendency to have erratic outbursts, concern with attractiveness and self-dramatization. Last is Cluster C personality disorder. This consists of avoidance, obsessive, and dependent. Avoidant is being shy, insecurity with peers and initiating relationships. Obsessive is compulsive concern with order, being a perfectionist, difficulty relaxing and lack of expressiveness.

The DSM-5 identifies the three clusters of personality disorders as Cluster A, Cluster B, and Cluster C. The personality disorders in Cluster A are schizotypal, schizoid, and paranoid varieties. The personality disorders in Cluster B are borderline, antisocial, narcissistic, and histrionic varieties. Cluster C includes avoidant, dependent, and obsessive-compulsive variety (Butcher, Hooley, & Mineka, 2014). Each personality disorders within the three clusters are characterized by their own set of pathology, but generally fit within each cluster. Individuals with Cluster A type personality disorders may be described as odd or eccentric. Those with Cluster B type personality disorders may be termed as having erratic behaviors, dramatic, and emotional. Individuals with types of behaviors in Cluster C personality disorder are anxious and fearful (Butcher, Hooley, & Mineka, 2014). I think that Cluster B personality types have the greatest potential to be dangerous. Some characteristics within this cluster include inability to control anger or having inappropriate anger, manipulative behaviors, impulsiveness, delusional thought content, and disregard for others (Butcher, Hooley, & Mineka, 2014). I think that the accumulation of these characteristics could be a marker for dangerous behaviors to one’s self and to others, whether that be through self-harm, violence, or manipulation.
