Health care organizations are continuously immersed in change from the emergence of new policies, to promote quality care and improve patient safety to keeping pace with the rapid growth in knowledge and best practices. Establishing a solid framework for planning and implementing change is a wise move, as it provides a foundation for the extensive coordination that will be needed to successfully facilitate the change.

For this Assignment, you propose a change at the department or unit level and develop a plan for guiding the change effort.

To prepare: Review Chapter 8 in the course text. Focus on Kurt Lewin’s change theory, and contrast it with other classic change models and strategies. Reflect on problems, inefficiencies, and critical issues within a specific department, unit, or area in your organization or one with which you are familiar. Select one issue as a focal point for this assignment, and consider a change that could be made to address the issue. Think about how the change would align with the organization’s mission, vision, and values as well as relevant professional standards. Using one of the change models or strategies discussed in Chapter 8, begin formulating a plan for implementing the change within the department/unit. Outline the steps that you and/or others should follow to facilitate the change effort. Align these steps to the change model or strategy you selected. Determine who should be involved in initiating and managing the change. Consider the skills and characteristics that are necessary to facilitate this change effort.

Write a 3- to 5-page paper (page count does not include title and reference page) that addresses the following: Identify a problem, inefficiency, or issue within a specific department/unit. Describe a specific, realistic change that could be made to address the issue. Summarize how the change would align with the organization’s mission, vision, and values as well as relevant professional standards. Identify a change model or strategy to guide your planning for implementing the change. Provide a rationale for your selection. Outline the steps that you and/or others would follow to facilitate the change. Align these steps to your selected change model or strategy. Explain who would be involved in initiating and managing this change. Describe the skills and characteristics that would be necessary to facilitate the change effort.

 

Scenario: You are an administrator at a health care facility providing a training session for new employees.

Create a training plan using the “NUR-621 Health Care Reimbursement Training Plan” template provided that describes how Medicare, Medicaid, and private insurance reimburse health care organizations for their services.

Include two to three references, including your textbook.

While APA style is not required for the body of this assignment, solid academic writing is expected, and documentation of sources should be presented using APA formatting guidelines, which can be found in the APA Style Guide, located in the Student Success Center.

This assignment uses a rubric. Please review the rubric prior to beginning the assignment to become familiar with the expectations for successful completion.

Choose one specific cultural group in the U.S. or elsewhere  for which you have a particular interest.  You may wish to consider  choosing a cultural group that you will be serving in your future  advanced nursing role. Conduct a literature search for varied types of  credible, peer-reviewed scholarly publications which may include journal  articles, book chapters, white papers; government publications or  sources such as credible professional nursing and healthcare  organizations. Prepare a voice-narrated powerpoint slide presentation  which concisely addresses key points in items one through five below as  they apply to your chosen cultural group. Include a title slide which  names the chosen culture, your name and academic credentials and a  reference slide with only selected key citations cited in the slide  presentation.

Critique a Research Article

A critique is a method of displaying a logical and organized analysis of a written or oral piece. Critique can provide the readers with both positive and negative outcomes depending on the author. The purpose of this assignment is for the student to perform a critique on a research article that deals with today’s health issues. In this paper the student must be diligent at what the author are claiming, taking into account the research methods being utilized and look for pros and cons of the researcher’s outcomes. 

The assignment must be a minimal of five pages, excluding title page and references. The assignment must be strictly following APA guidelines, points will be deducted if otherwise. Do not use first person throughout the paper until the section called evaluate the paper. It will be divided in the following manner:

Title page: Give the name of the article, the authors name(s) and your name. Following APA

Introduction:

· Provide an overview of the author’s research problem, research questions and main point including how the author supports his or her point. 

· Explain what the author initial  objectives (hypothesis) and results including the process he or she used to arrive at such conclusion. 

Evaluate the Research Methods: in paragraph form answer the following:

· Does the author provide a literature review? 

· Is the research current and relevant to today existing health issues?

· Describe the research type utilized?– experimental, non-experimental, quasi experimental, etc. 

· Evaluate the sample (size, composition, or in the way the sample was selected in relation to the purpose of the study? Was the sample appropriate for the research or was it bias? 

·  How practical does this work seem to you? How does the author suggest research results could be applied and how do you believe they could be applied? 

·  Could the study have been improved in your opinion? If so provide how you think it could have improved. 

·  Is the writing in the article clear straightforward?

·  Can further research be conducted on this subject? Explain

Conclusion: In your conclusion, try to synthesize the pieces of your critique to emphasize your own main points about the author’s work, relating the researcher’s work to your own knowledge or to topics being discussed in your course.
