For our discussion board this week, we will discuss a neurological condition known as Cluster Headache.

Case Study:

Richard is a 40-year-old man with a history of 4 weeks of cluster headache once each year. These began when he was 35 years old. His cluster periods occur in the fall. The cluster period begins slowly, increasing over 1 week, reaching a peak where Richard has two or three severe cluster attacks each day. They occur from 10 p.m. to 3 a.m. Each cluster headache lasts from 40 to 90 minutes, and the headaches are severe. The pain is always on the right side, with eye tearing and nasal congestion.

Richard comes into our office 1 week into this fall’s cluster series. The headaches are increasing in intensity, and he is miserable with the pain.

Please complete the following questions:  1. Describe Cluster Headache and its epidemiology. 2. What would be your goals for therapy for Richard? Give rationale with evidence from articles.

Work must be supported by peer-reviewed article published within 5 years.

he Le Chic is a restaurant located on a busy street in the center of a major city. It attracts a steady flow of customers who like its commitment to quick service with good food. As such the management pride themselves on offering a standard menu, which includes a good range of affordable yet delicious dishes – from starters and appetizers, through main courses and specials to pastries and desserts. While Le Chic seats around 80 customers, its layout is basic restaurant style and customers have often said that it has a ‘fast-food’ feel to it which fits

with its current business objectives but may not be ideal for the future.

A major concern for management has always been to maximize efficiency and reduce turnaround times: orders must be swiftly relayed to the kitchen and the food brought to the table within 15 minutes, even during ‘peak hours’ – the intended outcomes being consistency in both customer service and daily sales targets.

Nurses are to be constantly updated with scientific and technological changes through several avenues: formal academic education; institution-based human resource development programs; and voluntary or legislatively mandated continuing education (Blais 141).  As educators, they can hold individual or group sessions and may teach various populations, whether it be clients and their family members or other health professionals (153).  It is important for nurses to understand the impact of generational diversity.  The nursing community consists of five generations: Silent (1937-1945); Boomers (1946-1964); Generation X (1965-1976); Generation Y (1977-1991); and Generation Z (1992-present) (Bell 206).  The Silent and Boomer Generation prefer a structured environment; they value order and authority.  Generation X prefers learning on their own, role play, visual stimulation, and immediate feedback and Millennials prefer to learn through experimentation rather than through theoretical concepts (208-209).  Each generation has a different set of values and priorities.  Nurses are to acknowledge the differences amongst one another to have effective patient care.

Summary and Descriptive Statistics

There is often the requirement to evaluate descriptive statistics for data within the organization or for health care information. Every year the National Cancer Institute collects and publishes data based on patient demographics. Understanding differences between the groups based upon the collected data often informs health care professionals towards research, treatment options, or patient education.

Using the data on the “National Cancer Institute Data” Excel spreadsheet, calculate the descriptive statistics indicated below for each of the Race/Ethnicity groups. Refer to your textbook and the Topic Materials, as needed, for assistance in with creating Excel formulas.

Provide the following descriptive statistics: Measures of Central Tendency: Mean, Median, and Mode Measures of Variation: Variance, Standard Deviation, and Range (a formula is not needed for Range). Once the data is calculated, provide a 150-250 word analysis of the descriptive statistics on the spreadsheet. This should include differences and health outcomes between groups.

APA style is not required, but solid academic writing is expected.

This assignment uses a rubric. Please review the rubric prior to beginning the assignment to become familiar with the expectations for successful completion.
