For this week’s newspaper article, you decided to analyze the role of environmental health in your community. From your readings, your region’s air quality reports, and independent research, write a 2- to 3-page paper that addresses the following:
- What are the most pressing environmental hazards in your area (you can choose to research your state if your city or town is lacking data)? Begin by writing a brief analysis of the air, water, and soil quality in your region or town. Identify major pollutants or contaminants that are abundant in your environment.
- What are some of the concerns about the effects of these hazards on health and safety?
Assignment Expectations
In order to earn full credit:
Please write your paper in your own words. That is the only way I can evaluate your level of understanding. Quotes are rarely needed; if necessary, they should comprise less than 10% of a paper and must be properly cited.
Even though the papers must be written in your own words, you are required to cite sources for any statement of fact or idea that is not common knowledge. You are required to cite the sources within the body of the paper and include a reference list at the end of the paper.
Note: Wikipedia is not an acceptable source of information. Use credible, professional, and scholarly sources such as journal articles from ProQuest or EBSCO, and government, university, or nonprofit organizations’ websites.
You must clearly show that you have read the module homepage and the required background materials. You are welcome to do research in addition to—but not instead of—the required readings.
Your papers will be evaluated on the following factors:
- References – citations are used within the body of the paper any time you state a fact or idea that is not common knowledge and a reference list is included at the end of the paper.
- Precision – you follow all instructions and you answer each part of the assignment.
- Breadth – you show broad knowledge of the module’s topic.
- Depth – you go into detail to show more critical thought about the specific assignment.
- Clarity – the extent to which you elaborate and include discussion or examples as asked.
- Application – the extent to which you apply the information to a real-life situation related to the assignment, if asked.

/in Uncategorized /by LizAssignment 2: Time Value of Money
When the Genesis Energy and Sensible Essential teams held their weekly meeting, the time value of money and its applicability yielded an extremely stimulating discussion. However, most of the team members from Genesis Energy were very perplexed. Sensible Essentials decided the most expedient way to demonstrate how interest rates as well as time impact the value of money was to use examples. You have been asked to prepare a report analyzing your findings of the three example calculations listed below.
In this assignment, you will do the following:
- Calculate the future value of $100,000 ten years from now based on the following annual interest rates:
- 2%
- 5%
- 8%
- 10%
- Calculate the present value of a stream of cash flows based on a discount rate of 8%. Annual cash flow is as follows:
- Year 1 = $100,000
- Year 2 = $150,000
- Year 3 = $200,000
- Year 4 = $200,000
- Year 5 = $150,000
- Years 6-10 = $100,000
- Calculate the present value of the cash flow stream in problem 2 with the following interest rates:
- Year 1 = 8%
- Year 2 = 6%
- Year 3 = 10%
- Year 4 = 4%
- Year 5 = 6%
- Years 6-10 = 4
Perform your calculations in an Excel spreadsheet. Copy the calculations in a Word document. In addition, write a 2- to 3-page executive summary in Word format. Your summary should reflect a proper analysis of your findings, including a comparison and contrast of data. Apply APA standards to citation of sources. Use the following file naming convention: LastnameFirstInitial_M2_A2.doc.
