Learning   in a Technology-enhanced Environment

 A peer reviewed journal or article is an article or journal that has been reviewed by experts in the field and deemed to be worth reading by other professionals. Typically this is an extensive process in which reviewers are carefully vetted for expertise and professional experience. In this assignment, you will have an opportunity to examine a peer reviewed article and apply what you have learned to a professional scenario or activity.

Step 1: Research

This activity will be appropriate for your ePortfolio      and addresses Program learning Outcome 4. Locate one peer reviewed article      from the Ashford University Library, which describes the effects,      benefits, advantages, etc., of instructional technology on learner      achievement. Look for an article that can be applied to your own      profession or you may use another educational environment (K12, higher      education, military, corporate, etc.). The article needs to come from a      peer reviewed source (e.g., Proquest, ERIC databases) and be a full-text      article.

     Tip: Suggested search keywords are “benefits advantages instructional      technology.” Please specify the database where you located the article(s)      as part of your APA citation. Summarize the article in one paragraph, including an      overview of the topic, key concepts, findings and recommendations. Include      the APA formatted reference information. In a second paragraph, using an example from your      profession or another educational environment, what insights or ideas from      your peer reviewed article can guide the use of technology to support      learner achievement?

Step 2: Application

Create a collaborative wiki, blog or website tool (e.g.      Wikispaces, PBWorks, WIX, etc.). You will continue to use this tool for      the rest of the class as your ePortfolio platform. Upload your content from Step 1 (a-c) above that      summarizes the research article you found from the Library and the      implications to a professional or educational environment that you      identified. In your initial post to this discussion question, make      sure you include the link to your website, and test it prior to      submitting.

Guided Response – Visit and review at least two of your classmates’ postings. Provide feedback on their assessment of use of collaborative technology in the educational environment they identified. Offer suggestions or comments that might improve their summaries for application of learning in a technology-enhanced environment.

Flowchart

Have you ever come across a problem and said to yourself, “If it was me, I would have done so and so differently”?  In this week’s assignment, you will have an opportunity to do it your way. When we begin a new endeavor, it is always great to know where we are headed. After all, we don’t just build a house and decide where to locate the rooms once the work is completed. In much the same way, any organization should have a good vision of where they currently are, and where they are going.

For your Final Paper, you will be required to create and explain a proposed logic model. This week, you will begin creating the Assumptions/Issues portion of the model. For those without a particular field, you may choose a field that most closely aligns to your future educational career.

For this assignment, you are to place yourself in the role of a workplace educator who is proposing a program evaluation to the leadership team of your organization to implement some innovative way to accomplish a task or fix a problem. You are to choose a topic related to your educational field that can be used in the remaining weeks as well as the final paper (refer to final paper guidelines to get a better idea if your topic will be useful). The proposal and logic model is Parent Involvement You will create a clear and organized flowchart using Microsoft Word that shows the steps needed to accomplish the particular task you chose. For example, suppose you work in the registration department at a college. What are the steps needed for a student to enroll for the first time? Please make sure to pick a specific action that needs to be accomplished. You will need to provide a minimum of 10 steps. Note: Although this page describes flowcharting using MS Visio, you can do the same thing in MS Word. Go to the menu at the top of an MS Word document. Select Insert–>Shapes–>Flowchart  to access all the flowchart shapes.

Your flowchart should fit on one to two pages (landscape or portrait).  In addition, you are to provide a summary that further details the issue that is being addressed.  Note that you will use this week’s assignment as part of your Final Paper.  

Your summary must be one to two pages in length (not including your title and reference pages), double-spaced, and formatted according to APA style,  References must be properly cited, as needed. A minimum of three scholarly sources must be used, one of which may be your textbook.

Individual Assignment: Affirmative Action Paper

Prepare a 750- to 1,050-word paper in which you describe the elements of affirmative action as it applies to private sector employers and how it interacts with Title VII requirements of Equal Employment Opportunity. Your paper must address, but is not limited to, the following:

Which private employers are subject to affirmative action plans and why? 

What do the plans require private employers tdo? 

What happens if private employers do not meet the goals of the affirmative action plan?
