MGMT 499 week 4 assignment

Deliverable Length:

500–750 words

As a newly promoted vice president (VP), your chief executive officer (CEO) has invited you to participate in this year’s upcoming strategic planning session. You know that this will be high-level type planning versus the more routine type planning you have done in the past. To prepare for this, you have done some research and noted the generic strategies model (cost leadership, differentiation, and focus) in a lot of the strategic-planning literature.

Using the Generic Strategies model, complete the following requirements: Identify and describe 3 retail firms. Note which of the 3 broad strategies that each firm      seems to have chosen (low-cost producer, niche supplier, or      differentiation strategy). Identify at least 2 specific tactics that each of the      three employ to support your opinion of their method of competing. Do the tactics you cited seem to be working? On what      evidence can you base your answer?

Please refer to the following multimedia course material(s):  Unit 4: Conceptualizing a New Business Unit 4: Introduction to Strategic Planning Unit 4: Cost Leadership and Differentiation Unit 4: Strategy & Mission Statement Unit 4: Success & the 4 Functions of MGMT Unit 4: SWOT Analysis Unit 4: Company strategy

OTL541K: Evaluation and Assessment

Using Standards to Guide Learning and Performance.

Use the Colorado Department of Education School View website –or your state or country’s resources instead — to analyze district- or school-level student growth data, in at least one grade level and content area, to determine student performance strengths and weaknesses.

For this assignment, present the findings in a 1-page professional summary for community stakeholders, including a graph of the data. In addition, complete a 1-2 page reflection of your actions that includes challenges and successes around your learnings from this week. Support your actions with 2-3 research-based practices (e.g., the student achievement data, communicating with parents, etc).

Combine both requirements into one document to submit for feedback.

Ensure your assignment is well written, organized and adheres to Writing and APA Requirements. Remember to add a formatted title page and APA formatted Reference page (if sources are cited) to all of your Critical Thinking assignments

The Colorado Growth Model is an example of one state’s way to explore growth and achievement of Colorado Districts and Schools based on state assessment results. View the Colorado Growth Model Quickstart pdf on how to interpret available public student achievement data:

Cybersecurity’s importance is on the rise. Fundamentally, our society is more technologically reliant than ever before and there is no sign that this trend will slow. Personal data that could result in identity theft is now posted to the public on our social media accounts. Sensitive information like social security numbers, credit card information, and bank account details are now stored in cloud storage services like Dropbox or Google Drive. Ensuring cybersecurity is becoming tougher every year as cyber criminals perform new attacks, exploit new vulnerabilities, and execute new attacks constantly. As technology grows more sophisticated, so do hackers as they constantly work on new threats and software. Hackers are using valid credentials and connections to make it substantially more difficult for businesses to detect them. However, at a time when we are increasingly relying on connected devices that store and utilize vast pools of valuable information, organizations must take the time to develop a sound security strategy to prevent their data from falling into the wrong hands.

We must definitely remain proactive in the approach to prevent and deter cyber threats and disruptions that have been commonplace in government and corporate industry. A solid plan against cyber threats should consist of; training employees in cybersecurity principles, installing, using and regularly updating antivirus and antispyware software on every computer used, using a firewall for your Internet connection, download and installing software updates for your operating systems and applications as they become available, making backup copies of important business data and information, controlling physical access to computers and network components, securing Wi-Fi networks, requiring individual user accounts for each employee, limiting employee access to data and information and limit authority to install software and regularly changing passwords. Gone are the days of simple firewalls and antivirus software being your sole security measures

Cybersecurity is important because it encompasses everything that pertains to protecting our sensitive data, personally identifiable information (PII), protected health information (PHI), personal information, intellectual property, data, and governmental and industry information systems from theft and damage attempted by criminals and adversaries.

You have held conversations with Precision Part’s leaders and obtained the following information, which you want to use in the development of a 4-year strategic management plan.  PPQ      Parts employees now number 5,000, and all are currently employed in      the United States. It plans to grow to 10,000 employees in 4 years. New      facilities will be needed in international expansion, and PPQ Parts      anticipates building most of those (80%) outside the United States.
PPQ Parts holds 5% of the world market share on small SUVs, but its goal      is 9% in 4 years. Current      stock price is $10 per share. The goal is $22 a share.
Profit margin 3-year average is 6%. Industry average during this time has      also been 6%. The company goal is 13% in 4 years. PPQ Parts      has averaged 28% employee turnover during the last 3 years. This is      compared to an industry average of 25%. The goal of the company is to      increase employee retention by lowering annual turnover to 17%. PPQ Parts      contributes to all the local communities in which it is doing business.      This is one of its corporate values. Current charity is 0.5% of total      profits, but the company would like to raise that to 5% in 4 years.

Assignment

A strategic management plan is vital for the company business today. Review the company scenario at the beginning of the course for additional information regarding growth goals. Create a basic strategic management plan for PPQ Parts including quantifiable goals and measures. Include the following in your report: Provide      environmental scanning of current conditions in the area of expansion      including economy, competition, political stability, and so forth. If an evidence-based practice or best practices article is available, please choose this resource. What is significant about each of the articles and what can your peers learn from reading them

design a powerpoint presentation that you will upload into moodle graduate research project grp

Select an organization of your choice to analyze based on the 12 sections listed in Project Details Word document.

You may use an organization you have researched and discussed earlier in this course. You may also choose your own organization if you can provide proper reference material support any of your conclusions. You may use personal communication as well, but ensure you properly cite it in your work.

The actual layout of the PowerPoint (background, etc.) is not overly important. Present your ideas as bullet-statements in the presentation. Use your NOTES section to provide details on your bullet-statements. Write your notes as you would verbally present them. I do NOT grade your notes section for writing or APA errors. I review your notes section for depth of content.

Note: Have fun and be creative with this assignment. This is your chance to demonstrate what you have learned and how to apply what you learned.

* Please name your file as follows: last name_first name_HRT6575.E1_#GRP (Reagan_Matthew_HRT6575.E1_#GRP)

There are not a minimum or maximum number of slides. However, you will want to address each of the 12 sections below. Your grade will be based upon the following:

  • Did you cover each of the requirements below?
  • How thorough did you cover each requirement?
    • Does your presentation demonstrate a thorough understanding of the concepts you presented?
  • Spelling/etc.
  • Citations included? (Make sure you include citations for your references; construct your citations just like you would for a normal paper and primarily use parenthetical citations)

    • Direct quote example: “Always cite your references in order to avoid the possibility of plagiarism” (Reagan, 2013, p. 1).
  • Did you utilize concepts learned/covered throughout the entire course?
  • Did you include a References slide? (This slide should look like a reference page in a normal written APA document.)
    • You need to use your textbook as a reference plus at least THREE outside references

The following 12 sections should be a part of your presentation. You should present and “discuss” the following:

  • Environmental Pressures for change
