(Bertrand’s duopoly game with constant unit cost) Consider the extent to which the analysis depends upon the demand function D taking the specific form D(p) = α − p. Suppose that D is any function for which D(p) ≥ 0 for all p and there exists p > c such that D(p) > 0 for all p ≤ p. Is (c, c) still a Nash equilibrium? Is it still the only Nash equilibrium?

M4 A2 Project Schedule Changes

Assignment 2: Project Schedule Changes

You have kicked off the District 4 Production Warehouse Move project, your contractors are in place and working on receiving the proper building permits.

You originally were told the permits would only take 2 weeks to obtain but the contractors are telling you it will now take 3 weeks. You need to build the additional week into your schedule for each permit that will be obtained.

In addition, your framing and drywall contractors have just told you they are running late on their other jobs and can only release half their crew for your project. This will double their schedule.

Build the extra time into your schedule by doubling the installation work timelines for both the framing and drywall. Your project plan should also be updated with the new 3-week timeline for obtaining permits. Use the project plan you created for this task.

You are now looking at an extended project delivery date. Your project sponsor was very clear that you must be done in a 4 month timeframe so you will need to look at options for reducing your schedule to fit into the 4 month window.

You have an option of hiring another contractor to help with the framing and drywall work but it will increase your budget by $200,000.

Determine your best course of action for bringing this project in on schedule and update your project plan to reflect your recommendation. Develop a 5-6 slide presentation for senior management outlining your proposed solution. You are seeking approval to proceed with your new plan.

Submit both your updated project plan and PowerPoint presentation.

Submit your plan to M4: Assignment 2 Dropbox by Wednesday, December 18, 2013.

Q1) (Discussion) Describe the Yerkes-Dodson Law in the context of driving. Consider different extremes of driving such as driving through a busy multi-lane metropolitan highway during rush hour (very high work load) and driving along a rural, lonely, straight stretch of 2-lane road at night (very low work load). How might expert drivers process information when compared to novice drivers? How might each react to unexpected events? What would the influence of distractions such as cell phone calls or texting be? Is some distraction while driving always a bad thing? Why or why not?

LEARNING CURVES – IS TRAINING WORTH IT?

Q2) DocRomo Enterprises LLC manufactures automatic lawn mowing robots. The most important component that goes into the robot is the programmable microprocessor assembly. The electronics have to be ruggedized via a polymer encapsulation process and tested for the capability of handling vibration and various rough handling. It takes one operator, who is paid $25 per hour, 30 minutes to manufacture and test 10 of these ruggedized microprocessors. The lead manufacturing engineer has decided to see if training can improve the efficiency of the process. There are two competing training programs that the engineer wants to evaluate.

Training program one involves bringing a trainer to the plant and having them work directly with the operator and takes 3 hours to deliver. This training program costs the company $500 to deliver. After training one operator, the operator is able to complete 10 encapsulations in only 20 minutes.

Training program two involves 5 hours worth of training and some special equipment and costs $800 per operator to deliver. However, after training, 10 encapsulations can be done in only 15 minutes.

a) Calculate the training effectiveness ratio and % transfer for each training program. Based only, on these numbers, which program would you choose?

b) Now consider the cost savings realized from increased productivity (30 minutes for 10 parts reduced to 20 minutes for training program one and reduced to 15 minutes for program two for 10 parts). How long would it take for the training programs to pay for themselves (Hint: calculate and compare the labor costs per processor and translate that in to cost – and thus savings – per hour)? How many hours will it take to recoup the cost of each training program. Will this change your mind about which program to go with?

The databases listed below are good places to begin your scholarly research.Don’t worry when you find contradictory information. Some artists have had generations of people interpreting their narratives to fit their own needs. Instead think about what each conflicting narrative suggests and try to find the common ground between them.

Remember that many online sources are not trustworthy.

The main approaches to art history are formal/visual analysis, iconographic, contextual (religion, politics, etc.) and biographical or psychological. As you do your research, read critically. Is your author convincing? What and how does the author use for evidence? Is the author presenting new information or simply summarizing previous work? What questions are left unanswered? Research your topic in depth.Choose topics or artists not covered in class. Your goal is to contribute to the content of the course with new material.

If you are working on a specific artist, (or movement) include a brief summary of personal and professional background. Explain innovative work, working method, aesthetic intentions. What movement is your artist associated with and how? How does the work relate to other artists and movements? What major themes are you discussing? Have a clear overall point to make about why your artist and the work are important. Summarize interesting critiques you’ve researched. Do you agree with them? Use your visual/formal analysis skills when describing specific works to illustrate your points. [This only applies if you have already looked into museums: Are any works in local museums or exhibits? Have you looked at object files or archives in these locations? If a local museum has work related to your topic, should include it in your paper.]

Summarize what you have learned, go into depth on certain aspects of your research. This will enable you to do research in related fields like psychology, history, science, literature, etc. Do your own, original analysis of the visuals.

Think about balance. If some aspect of your topic was covered in class, you may want to do a brief review and then move onto new material in your paper. The substance of your work should be research of new topics.

DO NOT BE VAGUE OR REPETITIOUS and AVOID PLATITUDES.

If you need help with research sources, please consult the reference librarian at Snell. Some staff may be available remotely.

Format. There is no particular format required for the papers (Chicago or MLA suggested). Use a standard format preferred by your profession. Put your name, date, course (ARTH 2210) and title of your paper on the first page.

Plagiarism/Citation. All work must comply with Northeastern University’s Code of Student Conduct. Plagiarism, lack of proper documentation (no footnotes),or academic dishonesty will result in a failing final grade. Lack of proper documentation includes lack of footnotes and is considered plagiarism. Cases of plagiarism will be referred to the OSSCR office and possibly result in disciplinary action.

How to get started on a research paper.

  1. List 10 things you think you already know about your topic.Start with the basics.Nothing is too obvious to state. It’s OK if you learn later, after further research, that you were wrong about some things, or if you change your mind.
  1. Write 20 questions about your topic. As you look at art you already know, what questions come to mind? What new things have you discovered?
  1. Mark each question with the type of source that will best answer it. Some types of sources include:reference works (encyclopedia, dictionary, atlas, etc.), books (anthologies, textbooks, biographies, long-form journalism, biographies, etc.), academic journal articles (must be peer-reviewed), films (especially documentaries), periodicals (newspapers, magazines), discipline-specific websites and other electronic sources.
  1. Do your own in-depth visual analysis of the images you choose to illustrate your paper. Your formal analysis should be personal.

Surrealism represented a movement inspired by unconscious mind and imaginary, which lead by Andre Breton. It is an art revolution contains eye and body, but ignored the gender because some of the Surrealists used female bodies as the Surrealist objects. Moreover, Andre Breton wrote “The problem of women is the most marvelous and disturbing in all the world” in his Second Manifesto of Surrealism. What Andre Breton wrote clearly showed the inevitable relationships between females and Surrealism, which are worth exploring. In addition, during the movement of Surrealism, Female artists contributed a lot that was well known by providing qualified and quantified artworks. Thus, obviously, women become the center of Surrealism.

This research paper will explore the origins of Surrealism, how did it relate to females, and how did female surrealists drive such an art movement. As my final research paper, the most important is the analysis of culture and politics especially from the degree of gender. In addition, the contributions that female surrealism made will be analyzed because there were a ton of famous female surrealists. Overall, this paper is not only explore the representation of female body, but also tangible things that female surrealists did, and their effects during the development of Surrealism.
