Observation Techniques: Film Analysis

This week, you will analyze a three- to five-minute segment of a movie or a television episode depicting group behavior in organizations.

After watching the movie segment, create a report on your analysis. In your report:

Mention the name of the movie.

Describe the setting and overall storyline of the movie.

  • Describe the main characters in the observed movie section.
  • Describe the situation that you analyzed and interpret the action of the characters depicting group behavior and organizations.
  • Draw conclusions based on social psychological concepts and theories.
  • part two
  • Literature Review Part V

Final Project: Creating the Literature Review Section

This week, you will finalize the Literature Review section of your proposal. While developing Part 5, use the following guidelines:

Review the topic using articles pulled in prior weeks.  Start with a broad overview of the topic, and narrow it down to the purpose of your research and your specific research question.

State your hypothesis(es) (your prediction of what your research will reveal based on the literature review)

Compare the 2015 crime data from your home area to the overall rates for the United States. For instance, how does the murder rate in your area compare to the overall US rate of 4.9 murders per 100,000 residents? How does your home area compare with the rest of the country in terms of overall violent crime and property crime?

Description

Crime Trends

Part 1

A lecture from this week presented a table that shows 2015 crime data for the United States. Visit the Federal Bureau of Investigation website and locate the page titled “Crime in the United States 2015.” Find the data for your city or town. If you live in an area where several cities exist in a small area, use the “Metropolitan Statistical Area” data.

  • Compare the 2015 crime data from your home area to the overall rates for the United States. For instance, how does the murder rate in your area compare to the overall US rate of 4.9 murders per 100,000 residents? How does your home area compare with the rest of the country in terms of overall violent crime and property crime?
  • Choose any two specific crimes that seem to be more common or less common in your area than the rest of the country. Define those crimes and explain why you believe the results are the way they are. For instance, if your area has a high incidence of auto theft, why do you think that is the case?

Part 2

Earlier this week, you examined a list of questions that illustrated the types of studies that criminologists conduct. Choose one of the questions listed or create your own. Then include the following in your post:

  • State the question you have chosen or created.
  • Describe how you think a criminologist would go about finding the answer to the question.
  • State what you expect a criminologist would find and explain why you expect this answer.

In your lab classes, you participated in an experiment in which you were required to categorise amoeba-like stimuli  based on their internal features (i.e., the organelles).

Description

In your lab classes, you participated in an experiment in which you were required to categorise amoeba-like stimuli

based on their internal features (i.e., the organelles). Classification learning difficulty was varied between

conditions. The features relevant to this categorisation decision were not revealed to you, so you were required to

learn how to correctly classify the stimuli from the feedback you were given.

This experiment is a partial replication of one by Shepard et al. (1961), who explored how different types of category

structure affected classification learning. In their first experiment, Shepard et al. (1961) demonstrated that learning

difficulty increases with category structure complexity. Our experiment was designed to test the reproducibility of

this result using more confusable stimuli.

In your tutorials, we described Shepard et al.’s (1961) first experiment and contrasted their design with that of our

experiment. In your lab report, your task is to demonstrate an understanding of Shepard et al. (1961)’s original

experiment and findings, citing other relevant literature where appropriate to explain their results. In doing so, you

should provide a rationale for the current study that justifies our predictions. You will also need to report the results

from the lab report experiment and discuss your findings in the context of Shepard et al.’s (1961) results and the

broader classification literature.

A template for writing the lab report, including the method section, is available on the Lab Report Assignment page.

Please note that, while the method is not assessed, you are still expected to complete this section by replacing

the missing values with the appropriate numbers.

You will explain an aggressive act captured in the media recently using social psychological theory, and you will incorporate knowledge about gender, culture, and situational factors to further explain the aggressive action. Please include the following

For your Signature . You will explain an aggressive act captured in the media recently using social psychological theory, and you will incorporate knowledge about gender, culture, and situational factors to further explain the aggressive action. Please include the following

• Select a social psychological theory of aggression that you did not use in Assignment 1.

• Apply this theory to explain a highly publicized act of aggressive behavior.

• Integrate/add to your discussion gender, cultural, and situational factors to help explain the aggressive behavior. Be sure your discussion of gender, culture, and at least one situational factor is woven into your discussion of the theory. Adding factors to a theory that are not already included in the theory helps you to practice with how to expand theoretical frameworks.

Did Ann have a right to be upset, or should she have been grateful for the opportunity? Why? Do you think a psychology professor who has published a number of scientific articles is more knowledgeable about the field of psychology as compared to a professor who has not published? Why?

Many research psychologists have research teams they work with and some members of the team end up on the publications while others do not. For two months during summer, Ann conducted research as an undergraduate student at a well-known university. She spent long hours in the laboratory injecting mice with opiate blockers to look at pain tolerance. She was responsible for shocking them, as a test for pain tolerance, and euthanizing them at the end of the study. When the article was published months later, Ann was surprised to find her name was only included in a note of thanks. What do you think about this situation?

For many years, abstinence campaigns such as Just Say No and MADD were used with little to no success. What factors do you think contributed to the low rate of success? What can we do differently in regards to campaigns to prevent further addictions from occurring?

What insights have you gained this week about job analysis, assessment, and selection that could contribute to

a comprehensive talent management plan?

What two theories, principles, models, or themes related to job analysis, assessment, and selection seem

relevant to the task of developing a talent management plan?

How might these theories, principles, models, or themes inform or guide an approach to selecting and

Begin with an introduction that features a strong opening statement indicating who you are and which life experiences have shaped who you are. Are there people in your life who have impacted you either positively or negatively? Are there factors from your early beginnings through today that have impacted you? Think about your family, your personality, likes and dislikes, goals and aspirations, any life changing experiences.

The required Course Capstone will reflect on developmental stages within a person’s lifespan.

Bucket List

This semester you have reflected on several developmental stages (prenatal, early childhood, middle childhood, adolescence, early adulthood, and late adulthood). Using previously submitted Journals, you are now asked to write your life story reflecting on your personal development.

Write a 4 page paper reflecting on your personal development.

(1) Begin with an introduction that features a strong opening statement indicating who you are and which life experiences have shaped who you are. Are there people in your life who have impacted you either positively or negatively? Are there factors from your early beginnings through today that have impacted you? Think about your family, your personality, likes and dislikes, goals and aspirations, any life changing experiences.

(2) Support your opening statement in the body of the essay by relaying a first person narrative of your experience, highlighting 4 key moments in your development. Tell YOUR story in chronological order. In your reflection, describe the top 4 moments in your life that have impacted who you are to date. You will probably have more than 4, but I want you to limit this assignment to the TOP 4. Are there things that impacted positively on your life? Were there any challenging moments in your life where you can now reflect and realize you learned from the experience?

(3) Conclude your paper by providing final thoughts on your development and offer closing reflective thoughts. Reflect on what you believe your future holds. Have you learned anything about yourself? Have any experiences changed you? Are there successes, challenges, or areas where you are still a ‘work in progress’? Have there been any “AHA” moments now that you’ve taken a moment to reflect on YOU? Are there things you may now change knowing your life goals and where you want your life to culminate?

Write in the first person, remember, this is YOUR self reflection.
