Stakeholders-discussion0

If a new Walmart opens in your neighborhood and you decide to boycott the store, are you a stakeholder in that Walmart? Why or why not? What kinds of companies attract this level of negativity. Why is the opening of a retailer a bad thing? Is the perception that it would be low-end and lessen the value of the community or that it might displace small businesses? Who does it impact beyond you as an individual? What about Starbucks? Would that make a difference in your answer?

System-of-laws-rights-and-liberties-political-science-homework-help

Our political system is characterized by certain fundamental features to include a system of laws, rights, and liberties. The laws, created and supported by the Constitutional framework, are designed to protect and secure the rights and liberties of individuals and groups throughout the U.S. However, the government also has an obligation to provide for the security of its citizens from serious internal and external threats that could cause grave or severe damage to our country. Think about how the need for homeland and national security can create a dilemma where conflicts emerge between these security needs and the demands for civil rights and liberties.

In your initial post, explain what obligations the U.S. government has towards its citizens and how can these obligations impact individual and group rights? Provide real-world examples to support your explanation. Fully respond to all parts of the prompt and write your response in your own words. I have quite a few Wal-Marts within 25 miles to choose from. However, I typically shop at one local Wal-Mart. I only go there approximately once a week to do some of my food shopping. I have done the homework and compared my local grocery stores to Wal-Mart and found that on average Wal-Mart can be anywhere from $0.25-1.00 cheaper per item. Multiply that by your whole shopping order, and you are saving quite a few pennies.

However, I limit my shopping at Wal-Mart to strictly food and household products. I feel the quality of many other items just isn’t up to par. In many cases, I don’t buy my produce there either, on far too many occasions the quality of the food has been wrong.

One of my huge issues with Wal-Mart, at every opportunity, is the lack of check out lines open. Typically, there are 3-4 lines open with at least ten people in each line. It is quite ridiculous. Fifteen years ago, my brother worked at Wal-Mart and made an amazingly low wage of $7.00 per hour; now, fifteen years later, according to him, Wal-Mart is paying their associates $8.23 per hour. That is not much of an increase over the course of fifteen years. A conglomerate as large as Wal-Mart could afford to pay the employees a higher wage. I mean fifteen year, come on. However, on the flip side, the fact that they pay their associates such a low rate allows Wal-Mart to be worth so much. But hey, it’s business, right?

Answer-2-questions-of-4-Writing-assignment-400-words-total-

I’d like you to do is to answer either questions 1 or 2 AND either questions 3 or 4 below (so you’re answering a total of 2 questions).

-The questions are based on Wain and Wardle’s “Activity Theory: An Introduction for the Writing Classroom” and Marro’s “The Genres of Chi Omega.” .

-Each question should be about 180-200 words. Please use plenty of textual evidence to support your answers.

1. Explain in your own words what an activity system is, and give three examples of activity systems with which you are familiar? For each of these systems, explain what its common motives ad goals are.

2. Pick one of the activity systems you chose in response to question 1, and explain how its activities are “ongoing,” “object-directed,” and “historically conditioned” (para 4).

3. Marro defines activity systems and gives the example of her sorority as an activity system. List some activity systems that you participate in and make a list of the important genres that those activity systems use and produce to mediate their activities and goals.

4. Marro seems to suggest that the genres used by various Chi Omega chapters help the sisters across those chapters maintain a consistent identity. She does not tell you what that identity is, though. By considering the genres they use, the way they use them, and their motives and rules, can you make an informed guess about their values and identities?
