week-2-disc-Since-I-am-currently-moving-out-of-state-and-not-employed-at-the-moment-writing-homework-help

Please do a paragraph about this post with this instruction .

post most have 4 or more sentences .

you also have to have a high quality post from a content perspective. This means it also needs to do more than agree with or praise a class mate. If you agree with a classmate, explain why, give an example, share what you learned in the readings

Since I am currently moving out of state and not employed at the moment, I took on health care issues in the military specifically PTSD with veterans. The military is a unique organization and has its own challenges when it comes to health care. Most people when faced with mental health issues go seek help without employment repercussions or can find another job even if currently going to therapy. Military is different. Most veterans do not seek mental health for fear of peers/coworkers thinking they are weak and not resilient to effects of wars. Most veterans are afraid of seeking help for their PTSD, they would like to seek employment after serving in the military. Employers do not want to hire a veteran who has been in combat, in case the employee has a mental breakdown.

The military members can get lost in the shuffle when it comes to assessment of PTSD symptoms. Some military have civilian doctors and most nurses are not familiar with the questions to ask to assist the veterans suffering from PTSD. Nurses are the front lines of health care for patients, they are the ones who see the patients more often and will notice the little things that are not quite adding up, or making sense. Finding out a patient has PTSD is very important for the nurse to find help for the patient. “Currently, most VA and non-VA medical professionals do not routinely screen for trauma history or PTSD (war-related or otherwise), so the majority of trauma survivors with
problems go undetected” (Post Traumatic Stress Disorder: Implications for Primary Care, 2002, p. 21).

Another implication is finding out what is available for that patient. Medications is not the answer for veterans suffering from PTSD. Cognitive, music, art, etc therapy and outside resources such as Wounded Warriors program to help veterans integrate themselves back into society without the anxiety and stress associated with PTSD. There are so many outside resources available to these veterans that most military members do not know about. Nurses and medical providers have the opportunity to provide members with these resources while assessing their patients for PTSD symptoms.

f-social-media

Objective

Students (individually) must develop and submit an originally written paper in the style of a case study in social media marketing. The paper must be about a selected non-profit entity and contain a survey of in-depth research on an issue that is relevant to a main concept in this course.

The project will incorporate a specific issue concerning the development and implementation of a social media program as an application of the theory discussed in the reading and discussions. Collection of data and analysis are major features of these projects.

Instructions

  • Select an overarching topic in this course where you think you have the most interest from the following list. Your writing will likely be more focused on a specific sub-topic within one of these main topics, but this list will help guide you in the beginning. Review samples of case analysis included in the Assignments/Project tab.
  • Sign up for Case Study Final Project by the due date on the “Case Study Final Project: Topic Selection” discussion board by creating a thread with your topic in the subject line. The body of the message in the thread should include the main topic from the list above (or another approved topic) and the subtopic of interest.
    • For example, if student David Campbell would like to write a case study about the organization’s current social media efforts within the social publishing zone, he would go to the “Case Study Final Project: Topic Selection” discussion board and create a thread with the subject line ‘Social publishing zone’. In the body of the message to post, student David Campbell would write: David Campbell will write a case study about the social publishing zone topic. Specifically, the focus will be on the content characteristics (e.g. originality and impact of the contribution).
  • Using netnography, research and write a case study. The case study should include brief background information and qualitative and/or quantitative data that is relevant to the assigned entity and topic. The bulk of the writing should profile a real issue within the context of your chosen topic from step 1. You will likely have to consult the organization staff, internal publications, official social media accounts, credible online source, and/or other reliable sources of information to compose your case study.
  • Create three or more discussion questions at the end that allow the reader to reflect on the concepts in this course that are related to your topic. The discussion questions must encourage supported critical thinking based on the focal concept in your case.
  • Submit your case study through Blackboard by the deadline.

For this project, your topic should come from Chapters 3-8. The following list is a suggestion for topics:

  • segmentation, targeting, and positioning
  • social identity and social media usage
  • group influence in social media
  • social community zone
  • social publishing zone
  • social entertainment
  • social commerce

The instructor will respond to each post to state if the topic is approved or ask for additional information. No project submissions will be accepted before they are fully approved, so check back after posting to confirm that the project was approved.

Technical Specifications

  • There is no minimum length requirement for this report. However, a typical submission will contain at least 1,500 words. Projects containing less than 1,500 words generally will not contain enough information and analysis to earn passing grades.
  • Use 12-font Times New Roman and double space.
  • Use headings and subheadings thoughtfully and appropriately.
  • Please submit either a word document (.doc, .docx) or pdf document (.pdf).
  • All unquoted writing must be original. So, make sure that any “borrowed” text is clearly quoted in quotation marks and its source is cited.
  • Each submission must contain a formatted and complete references section at the end. The specific formatting style is your choice, but each source must include an author, publication title, publication date, and any other relevant information (e.g., website, publisher, etc.). Short, in-text citations must be used in the main body of the report to inform the reader of the sources of information used.
  • The case must include correct spelling, grammatical, and other technical writing criteria.
  • The report and presentation must be professional in appearance and content, including containing correct spelling, grammatical, and other technical writing criteria.
  • Your project should be submitted via Blackboard-Assignments/Projects tab.

Week One Reflective Journal

The Council for Exceptional Children (CEC) is the largest international professional organization dedicated to improving the educational success of individuals with disabilities and/or gifts and talents. CEC advocates for appropriate governmental policies, sets professional standards, provides professional development, defends the rights of individuals with exceptionalities, and helps professionals obtain conditions and resources necessary for effective professional practice (Council for Exceptional Children, 2011). As such, they have established professional standards for teachers working in the field of special education. This course is strongly aligned with and focused specifically on developing knowledge and skills of Standard 5: Instructional Planning and Strategies (see below). In Week One of this course, the journal prompt asks you to reflect on your own professional progress in this area of expertise in working with students with disabilities.

CEC Initial Preparation Standard 5: Beginning special education professionals select, adapt, and use a repertoire of evidence-based instructional strategies to advance learning of individuals with exceptionalities.

Key elements you will focus on:

  • 5.1: Beginning special education professionals consider an individual’s abilities, interests, learning environments, and cultural and linguistic factors in the selection, development and adaptation of learning experiences for individuals with exceptionalities.
  • 5.2: Beginning special education professionals use technologies to support instructional assessment, planning, and delivery for students with exceptionalities.

In each reflective journal, respond to all of the following prompts:

  • Discuss your prior beliefs about teaching students with disabilities. How have the readings, discussions, and the assignment altered or informed your current beliefs, knowledge and skills related to planning instruction for students with disabilities?
  • After reviewing CEC Standard 5 and its two key elements, discuss three areas you would like to improve upon professionally during this course.
  • Based on your experience, current role in education, and/or future role in education, how might you apply these concepts to plan effective instruction for students with disabilities?

Journal Options:
Based on your learning style and preferences, you have various options for creating the two reflective journals in this course. Choose one option from the chart below to complete your journal during Week One. Regardless of the format, you must thoroughly address each of the three required prompts.

Learning Style:

Intrapersonal

Linguistic

Interpersonal

Journal Options and Descriptions:

Option 1: Written reflection journal.

Option 2:
If you started a blog in WordPress or Blogger for your introduction, you may continue using your blog with your journals in this course. Create and post your reflections in your blog and provide a link for your journal submission.

Option 3: Video self-reflection using:
YouTube, TeacherTube,
Screenr, or other online video options. Please provide a link to your video for your journal submission.

Option 4: Peer dialogue written reflection (where you discuss the questions above with a peer or colleague and write a reflection based on your discussion).

Option 5: Talk to a peer or colleague via Skype, and create a screencast (using Jing or any other screencast application) or video of your conversation (focused on the three required prompt topics). The peer or colleague could be someone who teaches in another school or district, someone in this course that you have connected with, or even an international educator. Here are some ideas for how to connect with other teachers outside of your area:

rites-of-passage-in-the-us-and-japanes-culture

Research Paper needs to be about the Rites of Passage in the US and Japanese culture.

In the Final Research Paper, you will examine your own culture from an etic (outsider’s) perspective and another culture from an emic (insider’s) perspective to demonstrate your understanding of cultural relativism and examine misconceptions and ethnocentric beliefs concerning each of these cultures. Keep the distinction between cultural relativism and moral relativism in mind as you write your final paper. Even if you do not personally agree with a cultural practice, demonstrate your understanding of the practice in its cultural context. Avoid opinionated or judgmental language in your paper.

Cultural relativism is the idea that the beliefs and practices of a culture should be understood within the context of that particular culture’s background, history, and current events surrounding it. We should not ethnocentrically impose our own beliefs and opinions, which are products of our own enculturation.

Cultural relativism is not the same as moral relativism, however. As Crapo (2013) notes

We need not, for instance, come to value infanticide in order to understand the roles it may play in peoples’ lives in a society where it is customary. What cultural relativism requires of us is simply that we do not confuse our own feelings about such a custom with understanding it. To do the latter, we must investigate the meanings the custom has for those who practice it and the functions it may fulfill in their society. (section 1.4, “Cultural Differences: Cultural Relativism,” para. 3)

Keep the distinction between cultural relativism and moral relativism in mind as you write your Final Research Paper. Even if you do not personally agree with a cultural practice, demonstrate your understanding of the practice in its cultural context. Avoid opinionated or judgmental language in your paper.

Please review the Tutorial for the Week Five Final Paper, which will walk you through how to successfully complete the Final Research Paper. Your Final Research Paper will consist of two main parts, framed by an Introduction and a Conclusion. See the Final Paper Flow Chart for a quick overview of the assignment. See the following instructions for information on each part of the paper.

Introduction

Begin with an introductory paragraph that has a thesis statement at the end. The introduction should set up your topic, giving a preview and summary of the analysis you will present in the body of the paper. The thesis statement is the last sentence or two of the introduction and states what the main point structuring your paper will be.

Here is an Example of an Introduction.

Part I

Using the article by Miner (1956) and the feedback you received from your instructor on your worksheet in Week Three, describe one aspect of your own culture from an etic perspective. See the appropriate Sections in the Textbook in the List of Topics, based on your chosen topic from Week Three, for information on how to approach your paper from an anthropological perspective. You can describe American culture in general, as Miner does, or you can describe an American subculture, such as a specific geographical group (e.g., New Yorkers), a particular ethnicity (e.g., African Americans), or an age-related category of Americans (e.g., millennials).

Use reputable statistics and/or scholarly research to support any factual statements. Do not rely solely on personal experience or opinion.

Here is an Example of Part I.

Part II

Refer to the article you chose for Part II of the worksheet assignment in Week Three and describe an aspect of another culture from an emic (insider’s) perspective. You do not have to do research beyond reading your chosen article; however, if you do choose to conduct additional research make sure to use reputable statistics and/or scholarly sources to support any factual statements. Do not rely upon personal experience or opinion.

Here is an Example of Part II.

Conclusion

End with a concluding paragraph that reinforces your thesis. Summarize and tie together your main points for the reader. Provide a brief self-reflexive analysis of what you learned while writing this paper.

Here is an Example of Conclusion.

The Final Research Paper

  • Must be five to six double-spaced pages in length (excluding title page and references page, meaning it will be seven to eight pages total), and formatted according to APA style as outlined in the Ashford Writing Center (see the APA Essay Checklist for Students).

    • Date submitted
  • Must begin with an introductory paragraph that has a succinct thesis statement.
  • Must have well-structured body paragraphs with clear transitions from one topic to the next. Incorporate in-text citations (see In-Text Citation Guide) from your scholarly sources to support your analysis throughout the paper.
  • Must describe an aspect of your own culture from an etic perspective for Part I.
  • Must describe an aspect of another culture from an emic perspective for Part II.
  • Must demonstrate a perspective of cultural relativism throughout, avoiding judgmental and opinionated language.
  • Must end with a conclusion that that reinforces the thesis and provides a self-reflexive analysis.
  • Must use at least one scholarly resource in addition to the textbook, the Miner article, and the article chosen from the list in Part II of the Week Three assignment.
  • Must document all sources in APA style in the body of the paper and on the references page as outlined in the Ashford Writing Center.
  • Must include a separate References Page that is formatted according to APA style as outlined in the Ashford Writing Center. Here is an Example of a References Page.
