The Research Paper involves researching specific topics related to three communication disorders. For the Partial Draft due this week, select the three communication disorders you wish to research. For each disorder:

  • Describe the anatomy and physiology.
  • Explain the etiologies.
  • Develop treatment and intervention approaches.

    • Make sure your Partial Draft also includes:

  • An introduction paragraph including a thesis statement.

    • o Make sure you move from a general background statement to a more specific statement about your paper topic. The paragraph must include a clear and precise thesis statement at the end that lists the main ideas of the paper in one to two sentences. This will be a road map for your readers, and your paper must follow the order of the topics listed in the thesis statement. Be as precise and as specific as possible in your statement. The introductory paragraph should not be more than one-half of a page.

  • Detailed outline of paragraphs.

    • o Incorporate your readings and discussions from Weeks One through Three, which support your research for the Research Paper.

  • A conclusion paragraph.

    • o You must include a cohesive concluding paragraph that summarizes the main ideas discussed in the paper and refers back to the points made in the introduction. Do not explain any new ideas in this paragraph.

    The draft must be four to six pages in length (excluding the title and reference pages) and formatted according to APA style as outlined in the Ashford Writing Center. You must utilize at least four scholarly sources (at least two of which must be found in the Ashford University Library) other than the textbook to support your claims and subclaims. Cite your sources within the text of your paper and on the reference page.
