write 800 or more words that respond to the following questions with your thoughts, ideas, and comments. This will be the foundation for future discussions by your classmates. Be substantive and clear, and use examples to reinforce your ideas.

Organizational development offers a wide range of approaches to a variety of problems. Since it is a broad-based approach to change, it is important to choose interventions that best suit the needs of the organization. OD professionals may use different configurations of models and interventions that are tailored based upon diagnostic information, ROI, and other factors. In your initial Discussion Board posting, discuss the following:

  • What interventions would you recommend to senior leaders considering the diagnosis of Heavy WorX?
  • How will you communicate and carry out the interventions?
  • What is the potential for resistance to change for each intervention, and how will you address it?

Must add charts, graphs and tables in the essay…

the-Board-of-Directors-of-the-Museum-of-Military-History

1. My husband and I are on the Board of Directors of the Museum of Military History. The museum is a tremendous way to teach people about American history and to honor current and past service members who fought to keep America free and protect others around the world. When we reopen the museum we will include support groups for veterans, service members, and their families; to include parents, grandparents, siblings, aunts, uncles, etc. America loses 22 veterans a day to suicide (Freking, 2016), the divorce rate for veterans suffering from PTSD is extremely high, and children are living in a single-parent environment while the parent who serves is stationed elsewhere.

According to Jacobs et al., support groups or places where participants can share thoughts, feelings, and help one another examine issues and concerns (2015, p. 15). The initial stage of my group would include a time for individuals attending to stand around and share refreshments, to meet and greet each other. Ideally, there would be volunteers to keep the children occupied while their parents attend the support group. Time would be set aside to discuss what is expected, what the goals are of the group when we would like to meet, and gather informed consent form. According to Jacobs et al. this initial stage of the group is a “critical stage for group progression” (2015, p. 36). This time is safe for sharing and introducing themselves.

At the end of the group I would ask them to set up an individual goal, I would ask if there was anyone who felt uncomfortable and if there was any way I could help them feel more comfortable, and I would ask for prayer requests, something we could pray about for them until our next meeting. I would prefer the group be between six and eight members, to increase the intimacy and help group members feel safer. At the end of the group, I would remind everyone that we are a small family and confidentiality is the most important thing in achieving confidence in being able to share.

2. Regardless of the type of group they all go through three stages which are the beginning , middle, what is sometimes called the working stage, and the ending or closing stage according to the authors. (Jacobs, Schimmell, Masson, & Harvill, 2016). Bruce Tuckman identified what he termed the five stages of development of a group that are called forming, storming, norming, performing, and adjourning. (Jacobs et al, 2016). The forming and norming stages are included in what happens in the beginning stages where members getting to know one another. This is the feeling out stage to see if they bond well together as a group. Sometimes it only take a short time to mesh as a group because all members are on one accord. The authors talk about leaders spending more time than necessary in this stage talking and doing things that are counter productive to the group because what they are doing is not necessary. (Jacobs et al, 2016).

The storming stage is also a part of the beginning stage. This stage is defined by conflict that is present in the group. Leaders who are not effective contribute to this stage because of their lack of experience. This stage is very important for a leader because a good leader can make a good group structure better or it can destroy a weak group structure. A good leader will know where the group stands and how to handle it in a way to make the most out of what the purpose of the group is. There are times when the storming stage is a necessity in a group such as the task group when members that have overwhelming temperaments where disputes and squabbles come up. This allows a well skilled leader the opportunity to use his/her talents to bring a greater cohesiveness to the group. They make sure all the members are aware of the reason the group was formed and its purpose is carried out in a timely manner.

the-worst-mass-shootings-in-history

Discussion Board Topic: Chronic Juvenile Offenders

James Holmes committed one of the worst mass shootings in history. The accused movie theatre shooter killed 12 people and injured 50 when he opened fire in a movie theatre on July 20, 2012 during the premier of the Dark Knight Rises. According to his lawyer, mental illness was the reason why Holmes opened fire. Prosecutors argued that mental illness should not be used to protect a mass murderer from punishment.
Holmes was sentences to 12 life sentences in prison without the possibility of parole.

you will assume the role of the Defense Lawyer. Your job is to argue that your client should not receive the death penalty and that his mental illness should be taken into consideration for a more lenient sentence. Your job is to humanize your client and to bring up issues of family, mental health, and more appropriate options.

1)Nickolas/ I think the opposite but I am forced to argue against myself here. Biological factors cannot be an explanation for disruptive or criminal behavior because of the contemporary trait theory, which states that it is not a single biological or psychological attribute that can explain criminality, and that each offender is to considered physically and mentally unique, therefore there must be different explanations for criminal or disruptive behavior. I think that if the foods we ate really contributed to disruptive or criminal behavior, than the majority of the children that eat poor high sugar/fat diets would be disruptive and potential criminals. This just isn’t true, and on the opposite end of the spectrum a perfect diet does not guarantee one will never be disruptive or have a criminal disposition.

2) jorge/ Biological factors can not be a explanation for criminal behaviors. Correlation does not equal causation. Just because certain factors as sugar imbalance is a correlated to criminal behavior, it does mean its the cause for it. Criminals are criminals because they choose to be. They can only blame themselves, not find a excuse for their behavior. There is no need to remove sugar from schools, or change the diets at school for the reason of criminal behavior. If we remove certain foods, it shall be for health reasons.

Discussion-on-Carr-s-Chapter-9

Answer the following questions:

1) Our modern history clearly shows we have a distaste for memorizing. Why bother memorizing, we claim, when whatever we need to remember we can look up – either in a book or, nowadays, on our phones and through Google. Instead of an Industrial Age metaphor, our contemporary metaphor is that the brain is like a computer. But Carr says we are wrong about this. What kinds of evidence does he offer to show he is right? Is it good evidence? How so?

2) Carr points out that biological memory, as opposed to computer memory, has “almost infinite gradations” (190). Why is this important to argument that memory is harmed by our heavy use of the Internet? How might you use this claim in your own argument?

3) Carr points out that the key to forming lasting memories is “attentiveness” (193). How does the Internet (or the smart phone) undermine our ability to make lasting memories then? How might this point be useful in your investigation?

Write a response to the comments below, agreeing or disagreeing:

1.) Carr states that our brains are not like computers. The evidence he uses in this chapter relates to how memories are stored. When the artificial intelligence of computers is used to store information, the information is essentially frozen. When we open a saved document for example, it is exactly the same as it was when we saved it. Information stored in computers is not affected by the passing of time or updates to the computer. It will always be the same as the day it was stored. Our brains are much different. When we go to recall a memory, the very action of recalling it changes the memory in ways. Our brains change over time, and how we recall and remember thing is affected by this change in ways that do not affect computers. For example, we may have a memory from childhood stored in our minds. When we think about this memory, how we perceive it also changes over time. I think Carr offers good evidence to not compare our brains to computers. As much as artificial intelligence has advanced, it cannot compare to the abilities of the brain to adapt over time, which I believe is the key difference.

2.) This is important because when surfing the net we overload our short-term memory and the only information that is transferred into our long-term memory is what we give our full attention. In most cases we can’t articulate information in a way that is understandable when passing it on to our peers because the internet scatters thought as we click from page to page.

3.) The internet undermines the ability to make lasting memories because when surfing the net we jump from one intriguing piece of info to the next without allowing it to be stored in the long-term memory bank and we put strain on our brains when trying to retrieve information that we never fully comprehend. This info is helpful because it explains why we can’t retain information and regurgitate it.

4.) I know that when I use the internet, I find it hard to stay concentrated on the task I originally tried to accomplish. I have to be very disciplined, and avoid opening up other tabs while I am doing homework or research. It has been proven that the internet offers myriad distractions that are constantly begging for the attention of different parts of our brains. This prevents us from really focusing in on what we are trying to accomplish. This factor, that the internet impedes attention and deep understanding, is vital to investigations of the internet. We must always be aware of the internet’s many distractions, and how they affect our ability to be attentive.

Consider your dissertation research interests. Identify one categorical/nominal scale IV with more than 2 categories, and three DVs that are measured on continuous scales. Think of DV measures that probably are moderately correlated with each other because they are measuring different components of the same or similar concepts (e.g., three different measures of academic performance). What information would a one-way MANOVA provide you? What more would you want to know if you get significant results in the MANOVA? Why would this be significant to your research?
