Disccussion Post 300 words

Plato is considered the father of political science. Within The Republic, he presents his theories on the foundations of a perfect government. Rather than a theoretical examination of government, The Republic is written in story form, as the main character Socrates explores the ideal way to form a city.

A largely studied portion of The Republic deals with Plato’s cave allegory. The story goes something like this: You, as a person, find yourself within a cave, chained to the ground, facing a stone wall. You cannot stand, and all you know are the images that play out before you, which are the shadows cast by a light source from behind you. You cannot see behind you, but you know that there are others in the cave with you. This is the only state you have ever known. It is your only reality of the world. Plato goes on to explain that then one day, people come and remove your chains, and take you out of the cave. As you can imagine, you are scared and frightful, and thus fight these individuals as they drag you into this new setting. However, over time you learn to accept the larger image of the world around you and come to understand life outside of the cave. You then attempt to go back into the cave to free others.

This story was Plato’s attempt to explain the world around us. Just picture it: You are chained to the ground and all you can see in front of you is a cave wall. There is a light source behind you, which casts reflections on the wall.

What do you think you would think of these reflections? Could they represent family members? Or friends? What about a god

This discussion question focuses on Plato’s allegory of the cave. Along with your textbook reading for the week, here’s some additional reading to consider about Plato’s allegory of the cave: Anam Lodhi, “Education and Plato’s Allegory of the Cave,” Medium.com. https://medium.com/indian-thoughts/education-and-platos-allegory-of-the-cave-bf7471260c50 (Links to an external site.)Links to an external site. Quantitative Data Collection:

NGR 6812-001: Nurs Rsrch Evidnc-Based Prac
Details

Quantitative Data Collection

One of the most important decisions that a researcher has to make is how data will be collected. The nurse who is implementing evidence-based practice also needs to consider how outcomes will be measured. For this activity you will investigate ways to collect research data.

Consider the following concepts frequently used in nursing research:

  1. Caring
  2. Quality of life (patient)
  3. Nurses’ job satisfaction
  4. Critical thinking
  5. Empowerment
  6. Stress

For this activity, choose one of the 6 concept listed above. Find a published QUANTITATIVE research study that used the concept. This can be facilitated by using the concept as the key search term. The selected article must be a primary source (No systematic review or meta-analysis). In the study, the author must use the exact term, such as “quality of life.” You will need to determine how this concept was defined by the researcher (conceptual definition) and how it was measured (operational definition).
Once you have identified a published research study address the following:

  1. Identify the concept (how is it defined).
  2. Identify the type of research design and provide a copy of the article via a PDF file.
  3. Identify how the concept was measured. Be specific by identifying the measurement tool. For example, if you are interested in measuring depression among postpartum women, the Edinburgh postnatal depression scale may have been used in a study as it is a commonly used instrument.
  4. If a measurement tool was used to collect the data, briefly describe the instrument. (Example: The Finley Fall scale is a 10-item Likert scale with 2subscales). Also describe the validity and reliability of the tool. State if the validity and reliability is not described. If the measure is diagnostic test, describe the specificity and sensitivity.

obstacles/opportunities that necessitated the changes in the Coffee industry.

illustrate this concept.

Specifically, the following critical elements must be addressed:

  •  Describe the impact of change in the coffee industry. (: Describes the impact of change in the industry and includes a detailed explanation of the key factors )
  •  Identify key obstacles/opportunities that necessitated the changes and the nature of changes made in the related industry. (Identifies the key obstacles and opportunities that drove change in the industry and includes detailed explanation of the nature of the changes )
  •  Assess the enabling factors and the inhibiting factors that drove the change. (Assesses the enabling factors and the inhibiting factors that drove the change in the industry and includes a detailed explanation of the key factors )

project-on-a-differed-faith

For this project, I want you to:

1. Go to http://www.youtube.com/

2. Do a search for a sermon or talk from a faith or belief system that DIFFERS from

your own.

For example, you can search “Muslim Preaching”, “Buddhist Teaching” or “The Atheist

Experience”.

3. Carefully watch the clip. It can be a long or short clip.

4. Write a 500 word count assessment of the clip.

Make sure the assessment details ALL of the following:

A. An introduction of the faith/belief system through YOUR eyes.

What does this faith or belief system reflect in your opinion?

B. Highlight points from the YouTube video that make sense to you.

Or, highlight anything from the video that you may share in common.

Be specific.

C. Highlight points from the video that differ from your faith/beliefs. Be specific.

5. Reply with two things:

1. Your 500 word count assessment.

2. Include the actual YouTube link, so we can view it too.

Simply typing youtube.com will not take us to your exact video.

Copy and paste the actual web address from the web address bar for your video.

If you have a hard time doing this, include the specific title of the video from

YouTube and the duration of the video. That way we can search it and view it.

Do not include any attachments. You can type your assessment in word to verify your word count. Then, copy and paste the assessment and the YouTube link right into the text box.

*If something in your video is very interesting, and you watched a longer video, include a time stamp of any key points you want us to see. For example, if something really cool happens at exactly five minutes into the video, highlight points like that within your assessment, so we can get right to viewing the cool stuff that stood out for YOU!

**IF POSSIBLE, MAKE SURE YOUR VIDEO HAS CC (CLOSED CAPTIONING) AVAILABLE. Most YouTube videos do, but check it to see. You can still use the video for your project if it does not have CC.**
