Module 04 Written Assignment – Break a Norm Experiment Essay

Deviance is the label sociologists use to describe behavior that
violates cultural norms. Norms include the expectations and rules that
guide our behavior, appearance, manners, gestures, body language,
conduct, et cetera. For this assignment, your task is to break a norm
and write about your experience, as follows:

  • Choose one norm to break as long as it is within the guidelines
for legal behavior. Examples of acceptable norm violations include
dressing in a manner that would be considered eccentric or inappropriate
for a given social situation or invading someone’s personal space.

In a 2- to 3-page paper, double-spaced, include the following:

  • Explain which norm you broke and why you chose it. Discuss what
the appropriate behavior for the situation you chose would typically
require (for example, if you are violating a dress code, discuss what
you would normally wear in that situation).
  • Discuss why your behavior violated those norms and the reaction you received upon breaking them.
  • Apply one sociological theory of deviance to interpret the
response to your behavior. Begin by briefly discussing the key aspects
of the theory you have chosen and then explain why that theory is useful
for understanding your norm-breaking experiment. The Why Are People Deviant? lecture provides an overview of the major sociological theories of deviance.

Submissions should be in APA format, with a title page and

reference page. Refer to and cite at least one reading or lecture from

What is the “lesson” Bo Juyi wants his audience to learn about love or about power?, discussion help

you should construct a three to five sentence response that uses clear and precise prose. You don’t need to be overly formal, but you do want your response to be readily understood by your peers. One of the noteworthy aspects of Bo Juyi’s poetry is his use of plainer, less formal language to discuss the personal and the political. Bo Juyi also believed in the power of literature to teach its readers how to behave and think. Keeping both of those aspects of his work in mind answer the following question. What is the “lesson” Bo Juyi wants his audience to learn about love or about power?

The Big Stage

In the United States, both the federal government and the state have authority to indict for criminal wrongdoing. The federal government and each state have their own criminal statues, court system, prosecutors, and police agencies. Use your textbook, the Internet, and / or library to research articles on crime trial, prosecutor, and criminal investigator. Write a four to five (4-5) page paper in which you: 1. Put yourself in the role of a prosecutor and explain the importance of the final report to the prosecution of a case. Further, analyze the possible impact of poorly completed final reports on the prosecution of a case. 2. Review Figure 21.1 “The Use of Evidence in the Stages of the Criminal Justice Process” in Chapter 21 of the text and specify the manner in which each stage of the criminal justice process helps to build a successfully litigated action. Provide a rationale to support your response. 3. Define a criminal investigator’s role in preparing a case for court. Analyze the manner in which the investigator cooperates with the prosecutor to enhance the courtroom presentation. 4. Differentiate not guilty and acquitted. Give your opinion as to whether or not an acquittal means that the investigator failed. Support your position. 5. Predict one to two (1-2) changes that will take place in criminal investigation in the next twenty (20) years. Provide a rationale to support your response. 6. Use at least two (2) quality academic resources in this assignment. Note: Wikipedia and similar type Websites do not qualify as academic resources.

IPV4 / IPV6 and online health care

1)

IPv4 and IPv6 addresses are each divided into a network and host part. How many possible host addresses are available for:

I).an IPv6 address?

Ii).an IPv4 address where the first and second octets are reserved for network addresses?

Express your final answers in scientific notation to four significant figures.

2)

A) Home automation and outdoor environmental monitoring are two possible contexts for the Internet of Things. Each has particular requirements in relation to networking provision and power, and these re-quirements have implications for convenience and cost. Briefly summarise these differing requirements, and their implications, under the headings ‘Home automation’ and ‘Outdoor environmental monitoring’. For example, under each heading your answer should include a discussion of suitable power sources, and an exploration of their implications for cost and convenience. Note that the choice of network type could have implications for power requirements.

The maximum word limit for Question 2(a) is 350 words.

Question B)

you will be working with the following extract from The Financial Times.

The doctor will see you now — on your smartphone

Could telemedicine change the way we manage our health?

(Aliya Ram, Financial Times, March 22, 2018)

Remember the last time you went for a medical check-up? The chances are you waited a week for an appointment, had a long wait to see the doctor, and nervously wondered which of the people around you in the waiting room were the most infectious.

As governments cut public spending in the aftermath of the financial crisis, health services across Europe and the US have come under enormous pressure to cope with the basic medical needs of ageing populations.

Waiting times have increased, satisfaction has fallen and the quality of healthcare has come under strain. Even simple things, such as updating a prescription or requesting a routine appointment, have added to the burden for overworked doctors and nurses.

This is despite the fact that basic technologies, such as videoconferencing and online chat, have simplified communication in most other parts of life and business. “We are really, really strained and we need to look at ways to do things more efficiently,” says Dawn Harper, a doctor with the UK’s National Health Service.

Dr Harper increasingly offers email and telephone consultations to reduce the workload generated by patients with routine requests. But she says video consultations and other technology could help cover even more ground.

“What you get from is much more than from email or the telephone,” she says. “If we could take away lots of the problems that could be dealt with online, that would free up NHS time and keep doctors working.”

i.The extract quotes Dr Dawn Harper saying “If we could take away lots of the problems that could be dealt with online, that would free up NHS time and keep doctors working.”

From your study of Block 3 Part 6, describe some of the services available online via NHS websites and how they free up NHS time. You should discuss both central services and those for local GP surgeries. Suggest two disadvantages of asking patients to deal with problems online.

The maximum word limit for Question 3(b) (i) is 200 words.

ii.Dr Harper also mentions video consultations as having potential value, saying “What you get from video consultations is much more than from email or the telephone”. In Block 3 Part 5, you learned that telepresence technology can be used for video consultations. State which technical characteristics of telepresence you think would be particularly important for a medical consultation and explain some of the reasons that you would get much more from video than from email or telephone.

The maximum word limit for Question 3(b) (ii) is 250 words.

Cas 283 technology and communication

  • Consider the ideas contained in the Cues Filtered Out Perspective. In your own words discuss the concepts of cues, social presence, and richness. In your essay use examples of these concepts as well as examples of how these concepts can impact communication (or interaction).
  • Think of an example of a time that you shared private information with a friend. Using Communication Privacy Management talk about how you chose to share that information, what kinds of boundaries (rules) you established (or assumptions you made about rules that existed), and what happened to the relationship (example: was there any turbulence, did it bring you closer together, etc.).
  • Identify the three fantasies that Sherry Turkle identifies about cell phone use. In what ways are these similar or different from your own cell phone use? Provide examples to support your answers.

Formatting

  1. The essay should be a minimum of 800-1000 words but no more than 1400.
  2. Please include a word count at the bottom of your responses and BOLD any course terms or concepts.

Criminal Versus Civil Law

Introduction

Laws consist of enforceable rules that govern relationships. It is important to understand the evolution of criminal law in order to understand the current criminal law from the standpoint of the laws and the policies behind the enactment of the laws. Laws are broadly classified into criminal laws and civil laws. Both regulate the conduct of people and often overlap. To fully understand different types of laws, it is necessary to understand the distinctions between civil and criminal law. Civil and criminal law can be distinguished on several critical levels. Understanding what each area of law governs and how, and by what entity, they are prosecuted is the foundational start point for any legal research. Therefore, it is important to grasp how each type of case is processed through the legal system, including any challenges that may arise in the process.

In your main post, complete the following:

  • Explain the difference between civil law and criminal law in terms of how the rules are applied, the similarities and differences, and the consequences that may result when a law is broken.
  • Explore an incident that gives rise to both civil liability and criminal responsibility.
  • Illustrate how the civil and criminal aspects of the incident might vary, including but not limited to, a burden of proof standpoint.

Netflix Inc 2011 Re branding/Price increase debacle

Referring to Cases 27 and 28 in your textbook Strategic Management, Netflix, Inc. and Netflix, and using the three circles analysis, describe Netflix’s competitive strategy. In a 3- to 4-page paper, analyze how Netflix competes with similar companies, as follows:

  1. The first circle represents the team’s consensus of what the most important customer segments need or want from the product or service.
  2. The second circle represents the team’s view of how customers perceive the company’s offerings.
  3. The third circle represents the strategists’ view(s) of how customers perceive the offerings of the company’s competitors.
  4. Describe how 1, 2, and 3 are particularly important for asking questions about the company’s competitive advantage.

Include a title page and reference page, and follow APA format according with at least 3 credible sources.

write about a play in your opinion essay

please see the play Sweeney Todd and answer one of the questions following the instruction thanks

Two major things I base grades on:

A) Focus — Your paper shouldn’t have a single sentence that’s not about your specific topic, not even in an opening paragraph. No general discussion of the show, and nothing you would only know by researching. Also — If you want to write about something other than my suggested topic, that’s possible, but you need to run it by me first.

B) Support — This is the main thing. For this class, the support for your ideas will generally come from a very specific place: the song lyrics. That’s because musicals tend to deal with their intended themes most specifically within their songs. Use the songs themselves to back up your points, using quoted lyrics from the songs in the body of your paper. (In this way you are clearly showing us what you mean, not just asking us to take your word for it. When you use the show’s own words to support your points, it’s hard for any reader to argue with you.)

Technical guidelines for any lyric-quoting within your paper. I will hold you to doing these correctly! (And you can see examples of correct lyric-quoting in the two sample papers I’ve attached.)

* All quoted lyrics are indented TWO TABS from the left margin (as opposed to when you start new paragraphs, which are indented only one tab).

* As a general rule, indent all quoted lyrics in this way, no matter how long they are, even if they are only a single line. Lyrics are like poetry — each line of the lyrics should go on its own separate line in your quotation. (See the sample papers attached here for examples of this.)

* Continue to double-space within each quotation, no different from the rest of your paper. Also regular double-spacing before and after your quotation. No extra spaces before or after.

* No quotation marks around indented quotes. (The indenting is enough — it already tells us that you’re quoting.)

* No citation necessary for any of these quotes — the lyrics are all from the show, the title of which you’re already letting us know within the body of your paper. You definitely don’t need to cite the website where you found the lyrics — they don’t own the lyrics. The show does.

* Do not quote entire songs!! Only quote as much material from the lyrics as you are going to specifically talk about.

* Names of shows are written in italics (Sweeney Todd). Names of songs are written in quotation marks (“Not While I’m Around”).

(Please take a careful look at the two sample papers I’m attaching here — I’m sending them specifically as good examples of how to handle quoted material within a paper. In general, the more you use lyrics from the show to back up your points, the more effective your paper is going to be.)

2) As I said above, attached are the two sample papers — both were written a couple of semesters ago, about the show Oklahoma! Please take a careful look at them — I’m sending them specifically as good examples of how to handle quoted material within a paper. In general, the more you use lyrics from the show to back up your points, the more effective your paper is going to be. These papers should help you in understanding the way to use lyrics to support your ideas, and they are also good examples of how to format lyric quotations in your paper. They’re also not bad papers, but I’m primarily sending them to you simply as models of how to use lyrics as support.

3) Last, here are three suggested topics for the Sweeney Todd paper, if you’re planning to write this one. (Remember, if you don’t write a paper on Sweeney Todd, then you MUST write one on Sunday in the Park with George.)

A) Discuss how Sweeney Todd intentionally subverts traditional stories of good and evil. How are traditional narrative themes such as heroic virtue, the power of love and the clear distinction between good and evil undermined by this musical? (You don’t have to talk about all three of those themes, but you should try to deal with at least two of them.)

B) Discuss the use of irony (situational and/or dramatic) in Sweeney Todd. Examine at least three specific instances of irony in this musical (at least one of which should be a song), and talk about how these ironic moments, scenes or situations impact the way an audience views the show.

C) Throughout popular culture, audiences have a tendency of rooting for revenge. Why do you think this is? How does Sweeney Todd make use of the concept of revenge as a way of encouraging us to identify with Sweeney?

If you want to send me something to take a look at in advance, feel free. But give me at least 24 hours to get back to you.
