Cold War

Background: After the Second World War, the US embarked on what came to be known as the Cold War against the Soviet Union. Although the two sides never fought against each other directly, the Cold War nonetheless erupted into violence at times in places like Vietnam, Korea, and Afghanistan. As the US grew more activist and interventionist in its foreign policy, the domestic government also grew in power and in its role in the people’s lives.

In this assignment, you are to use the same corporation you selected and focused on for Assignments 1, 2, and 3.

Consider the corporation you have selected to use in your first three assignments.Identify one of the firm’s major competitors that you would consider working for.

Research the corporation on its own Website, the public filings on the Securities and Exchange Commission EDGAR database (http://www.sec.gov/edgar.shtml), in the University’s online databases, and any other sources you can find. The annual report will often provide insights that can help address some of these questions.

Develop an executive level Power Point presentation with 8 -12 slides with speaker notes and appropriate graphics or professional video.

You will do a 15 minutes presentation to the Board of Directors of the corporation. Based upon Assignments 1 through 4 – develop an eight to twelve slide PowerPoint presentation with speaker notes or record a video. Each slide should include your research/citations as noted below.

The following order is suggested. Note that each slide should include some text and/or graphics….but don’t overdo it. Put the content required in the Speakers Notes or Video. If more slides are needed, feel free to expand them as required to accommodate your information.

A sixty-year-old baker presents to your clinic, complaining of increasing shortness of breath and nonproductive cough over the last month. This may include the case’s footnotes and references. You must support your opinion with facts, theory, and empirical evidence. Please use data (numbers only) in the write-up. You must analyze the numbers and tell a story around them. Use original sources, for instance reports from international organizations (IMF, WB, BIS, etc), or academic research. Do not use blogs, Wikipedia, Investopedia, or press articles outside the FT, WSJ or the Economist as sources for your research and when expressing your opinion. Your sources must be properly cited in the bibliography. Using someone else’s wording without quotation marks is considered plagiarism.
