If the only constant in the universe is “change,” then the world we are trying to change will require constant work on our part. (We will always have a career!) Change management is effectively implemented with talent management to reach the desired future vision. The whole purpose of HRIS is to integrate diverse processes in a coherent whole for HRIS success. Therefore, how do we present that concept to Grace who is convinced the new system will take away her position at the company? Her mentality mirrors the value, “If it ain’t broke – why fix it?”

How might the Implementation team approach Grace and others to obtain favorable responses? Please write a brief formal memorandum addressing this scenario.

SWOT Analysis

For purposes of the Module 2 SLP, once again consider yourself to be an expert in the field of Strategic Management. In this assignment, you will blog about some aspect of the external environment of an organization, providing examples based on current events you have found in a recent article in a trade journal, newspaper, or magazine (e.g., the Wall Street Journal, The Economist, Business Week, or Forbes).

Hint: Visit either ProQuest or EBSCO-Business Source Complete in the library. Choosing an industry that is of interest to you, find a recent article related to how one or more of Porter’s Five Forces or PESTLE have impacted your chosen industry. You may want to type in a specific force as a key word (e.g., Social, Economic, Legal, Threat of Entry, Competitive Rivalry, Suppliers, Buyers, etc.). Be sure to click on “Trade Publications,” “Newspapers,” and/or “Magazines”. You may also select a specific company and discuss how a force (or forces) in the remote or industry environment have (for better or worse) affected that company.

For example, you might find a recent article related to how the fiercely competitive nature (one of Porter’s Five Forces) within the soda industry has affected the market share of such major company players as Coca-Cola or Pepsico. Or you might find an article that evaluates how a new law or regulation (in the remote environment) has impacted the healthcare industry.

Remember that you are playing the role of a Strategic Management blogger, who is conveying to the public how environmental forces (whether remote environment or industry environment forces) are affecting a particular industry.

Your main article(s) for your blog entry must be no older than 12 months. You may, of course, use older sources to support your discussion and analysis, however, the current event article serving as the main focus of your paper must be no more than 12 months old.

You are required to use APA formatting and you are required to cite and reference your sources. There should be a minimum of three reputable sources cited and referenced in your paper.

Please Review the definition of Strengths, Weaknesses,
Opportunities, and Threats (SWOT) in slides 2-3 of the Grand Strategy Selection Matrices PowerPoint
presentation. Also, be sure to take careful note of the SWOT diagram included
on Slide 4. At this point, don’t be overly concerned with the definitions of
each of the four cells, but note how S, W, O, and T are used to decide the most
appropriate, generalized strategic direction (don’t be concerned with the rest
of the slides—we will cover their content in Module 3).

Now that you understand the definition of strengths, weaknesses,
opportunities, and threats, let’s put these concepts together to formulate a
SWOT. Please read Section 4.6: SWOT Analysis on pages 136-138 of the Mastering
Strategic Management text.

In this discussion, you will consider how historical lenses can affect the study of a historical topic. Select one of the secondary source articles from the Research Kit for your chosen topic. After reading that article, write a discussion post about which of the following lenses you believe the article is using: social, political, economic, or other. Use at least two quotes from your source to justify your choice of lens. Your post title should also indicate which topic you have selected. Next week, you will be prompted to respond to two of your peers’ initial posts.

When responding to peers, choose a peer who selected the same topic as you by looking at the title of the discussion posts. In one to two paragraphs, compare and contrast the source you described in your initial post with the one described by your peer. Are the two sources’ theses or arguments compatible? Do they use the same or different primary sources? Is one source more reliable, in your estimation, than the other? How do these two sources, combined, add to what you know about the research topic?
