In The Souls of Black Folk, W. E. B. Du Bois seeks to depict the experience of being black in a society structured by race, a structuring he refers to as the color line. In The Structure of Scientific Revolutions, Thomas Kuhn seeks to depict how the history of science is revolutionary, involving a process whereby each paradigm is replaced by an incompatible new one. The position should be based on reasons that are outlined in the following paragraphs of the paper. In presenting reasons in favor of the position you have adopted, be sure to present at least one possible counterargument to your position and address it by seeking to explain how your position is reasonable despite this counterargument. The paper should include at least one direct citation from the text, but citations should be included only insofar as they contribute to the goal of presenting an argument for your adopted position.

1. How do you look at collective problem solving and avoid the dilemma of an individual’s agenda driving the work of the group in their own direction rather than for the common good.

2 .What are methods to come to consensus and value each member’s perspective?

my answer was:

How do you look at collective problem solving and avoid the dilemma of an individual’s agenda driving the work of the group in their own direction rather than for the common good?

Problem-solving is very significant in achieving the primary goals of a group. It helps in uniting the group towards achieving the common goal and eliminates all the elements of individualism among the group members. To avoid the dilemma and achieve the collective goal of the group, one must ensure the process of solving the problems include discussions, thoughts, collective decision-making and actions that considers the challenges faced by the group and the primary objectives of the group (Sherif & Muzafer, 37). The group must effectively define the problem by considering the goal, undesirable situations and the obstacles affecting the problem-solving process.

Analyzing the problem together with the group members and identifying the significance of its solution to the group helps in achieving the common goal of the group. It helps in identifying the potential causes of the problem and assists in generating its possible solutions. Evaluating the solutions is also imperative and helps in avoiding the dilemma of an individual’s agenda driving the work of the group in their own direction rather than for the common good and achieving the collective problem-solving goals. To achieve the common goal of the group, one must also assess and implement the solution to determine its effectiveness and its impact on the primary goals of the group.

What are methods to come to consensus and value each member’s perspective?

Coming to consensus and considering the value of the perspective of every member of a group is paramount and helps in achieving uniting and understanding among the group members. One of the major methods of coming to consensus and valuing each member’s perspective is by ensuring and initiating active participation from all the members. Encouraging all the members to generate ideas helps the group in coming to consensus and valuing each member’s ideas. Introducing a multi-voting approach when making decisions is also a significant method that helps the group achieve consensus and valuing perception of members. It is significant when the group has different options. Pinpointing the priorities also helps in attaining consensus. It helps in prioritizing and ranking each members task and collectively deciding on the best option (Baldwin, Richard, Francesco, 42). The most effective approach that helps the group in valuing the member’s perception and achieving consensus is involving the whole groups in developing the solution. It helps the members to feel valued and important to the group. It also helps the group to easily come to a consensus.

3 Strikes and You’re Out: After 20 Years, Is the Law Working? | Retro Report | The New York Times

After visiting the website video,” 3 Strikes and You’re Out: After 20 Years, Is the Law Working? | Retro Report | The New York Times ” in Youtube , allow these questions to direct your thoughts(around 200 words).

  • How appropriate was this site and its material to the understanding the historical beginnings of the three strike laws and its assessment twenty years later?
  • What part of the website/video interested you the most or least? And why?
  • Three strike laws were the result of very serious crimes against society and society’s emotional response to those events. Should the three strikes law be modified above and beyond what is stated in the video.
  • and also comment (100 words) on this post: The content of the video provided me with lots of useful information regarding the origins of the Three Strike Laws 20 years ago but also gave me a better understanding regarding the current view on these laws. It was really interesting to see how two tragic and very emotional crimes pushed society to demand stricter laws to punished repeat offenders and put a lot of pressure onto elected officials to enforce this new laws. This emotional and quick decision to modify the criminal law brought severe consequences to the repeat offenders and increased the cost of maintaining such high prison population. It was really interesting to see how elected officials gave up to the public pressure, approving and enforcing laws without analyzing the future implications of those. Personally, I was surprised to see that the debate regarding whether the correctional system should punish offender or help them become productive members of society has been an ongoing situation for over 2 decades without either side winning the discussion and no big improvements made to the correctional system over this time period.Three Strikes Laws definitely need some modifications, regarding what type of crimes should be consider eligible for longer sentences. In general, the criminal laws need to be reevaluated in order to provide more rehabilitation options, help lower the growing inmate population and reduce the overload of cases in many judicial districts.

GPS Jewelry Idea

It is about GPS Jewelry Idea Project

I attached two files, one of them is the example and the other one is the one which needs to adjust

in each section I did, I need two- six sentences more, (no need to do the empty sections) and I also need four survey questions with the answers (multiple choices)

and here is more explaining

“I think the most interesting were temperature, heartbeat and a range of area they should be in. A good point for kids is temperature – they hate it being taken and this would allow parents to know if they aren’t feeling well at any time, especially at school.

In class we talked about using a sticker for the kid. Like a clear strip that would go on their back so it wouldn’t bother them and they couldn’t remove it. This would be deviating from jewelry, but it looks like there are already tons of GPS options out there for kids.

This would be pushing reality like what she wants because the products available now have a battery and have to be replaced. We would have to figure out how to power the tracker. If it were on the body, could the body heat charge it? He said the technology doesn’t have to be developed yet. I read reviews for the Tile and that was the biggest complaint is that after the battery dies you just have to replace the product.”

Unit 2 Disc. 2

Study of the Family in Later Life

The need for high-quality applied research on the family in later life escalates as the population ages and we seek solutions to many related social issues. The main challenge for the human service and public service leader is to identify the problems and issues of the family in later life. One way to accomplish this is to use the multidisciplinary approach of gathering information, synthesizing and analyzing the information, making recommendations based on the information, and developing a plan of action based on the recommendations.

Using the topical essay on page 51 of your textbook, “Ironies of Crime: Silver-Haired Victims and Criminals,” discuss the following:

  1. How does this essay use the multidisciplinary approach? Was the information based on the four steps?
  2. How does this essay tell us more about the family in later life?
  3. What would your role be as a human service and public service leader when learning more about the family in later life?

Support your position with scholarly and professional research from the current literature.
