Video transcript can be accessed here.

In the Ancient Greek world (the world of Socrates, Plato, and Aristotle, often regarded as the birthplace of philosophy) a “symposium” was a banquet held after a meal, an “after party” of sorts that usually included drinking, dancing, recitals and engaging conversations on the topics of the day.

For our purposes in this course, the Symposium discussions will not involve dancing, recitals or a banquet, but they will provide food for thought on current ethical issues and direct application of the ethical theory discussed in each of these weeks.

It is almost impossible these days to turn on the news or log onto social media without encountering a controversy that cries out for ethical discussion. For these Symposium discussions, your instructor will choose a topic of current ethical interest and a resource associated with it for you to read or watch. Your task is to consider how the ethical theory of the week might be used to examine, understand or evaluate the issue.

This week, you will consider how deontology applies to a controversy, dilemma, event, or scenario selected by your instructor. It is a chance for you to discuss together the ethical issues and questions that it raises, your own response to those, and whether that aligns with or does not align with a deontological approach. The aim is not to simply assert your own view or to denigrate other views, but to identify, evaluate, and discuss the moral reasoning involved in addressing the chosen issue.

Your posts should remain focused on the ethical considerations, and at some point in your contribution you must specifically address the way someone with a deontological view would approach this issue by explaining and evaluating that approach.

If you have a position, you should strive to provide reasons in defense of that position.

When responding to peers, you should strive to first understand the reasons they are offering before challenging or critiquing those reasons. One good way of doing this is by summarizing their argument before offering a critique or evaluation.

You must post on at least two separate days, must include at least one substantial reply to a peer or to your instructor, and your posts should add up to at least 400 words.

Week 3 Symposium: Researcher’s Choice and Peer Review

To ensure that your initial post starts its own unique thread, do not reply to this post. Instead, please click the “Reply” link above this post.

Please read the description above and/or watch the video explaining the symposium and its requirements. If you are still unsure about how to proceed with the discussion, please contact your instructor.

This week, we will consider how a specific ethical theory applies to your final research topic.

This symposium is a chance for you to discuss together your final research topic, the ethical issues and questions that it raises, your own response to those, and whether that aligns with or does not align with a deontological approach. The aim is not to simply assert your own view or to denigrate other views, but to identify, evaluate, and discuss the moral reasoning involved in addressing your final research question and creating your thesis statement.

Your posts should remain focused on the ethical considerations, and at some point in your contribution, you must specifically address the way someone with a deontological view would approach your issue by explaining, evaluating, and defending that approach.

This is your chance to show your expertise on the topic you are researching for your final paper and identify a specific argument(thesis) associated with your topic. This is also a chance for you to receive and give peer review as a way for us to foster our learning as a community.

Be critical and be creative!

Your initial discussion has two parts.

In part one, you want to identify a thesis statement based on your ethical question that you are researching.

Please review this link for information on writing a philosophical thesis statement

https://www.messiah.edu/info/21534/resources/2493/how_to_write_a_philosophy_paper/2 (Links to an external site.)Links to an external site.

In part two, you want to discuss how deontology applies to your topic as well as find a current event related to your topic.

Make sure to support your ideas with citations and references. In addition to the course materials, make sure to include at least 1 more academic, scholarly source.

Participation:

For this symposium, we are going to peer review each other’s thesis statements. Be sure to critique at least 2 posts, and try to respond to different students so that everybody has at least 2 critiques of his or her initial post and thesis. Base your critique off the following questions:

  1. What is the thesis statement in this essay?

NOTE: if you have trouble identifying either the question/problem/issue or the thesis, be sure to concentrate on how to help the writer clarify the problem.

  1. Provide general feedback to your partner. How did you react to the thesis? Does the thesis present a sound, logical argumentation? How could the thesis be rewritten to be more specific and philosophical?

When responding to peers, you should strive to first understand the reasons they are offering before challenging or critiquing those reasons. One good way of doing this is by summarizing their argument before offering a critique or evaluation.

You must post on at least two separate days, must include at least 2 substantial replies to peers, and your posts should add up to at least 400 words.

Paper on African Americans or Women’s Movement for History 1865 to present

Final Paper

Understanding history can be more difficult than many people imagine. Historians concern themselves not only with what happened but with why it happened. They analyze and assess a variety of sources, including primary sources (ones created during the time period the historian is examining) and secondary sources (ones written by other historians after the period), to create their own interpretations of the past. For the Final Paper, students will not only learn about the past, but also experiment with the interpretive, analytical methodologies of the historian.

Choose from one of the topics below and review its history from 1865 to the present. Select six specific events or developments that span the years covered by this course, based on their impact on the topic and write a thesis. Your thesis should summarize the main conclusions that you drew while researching your topic and that you will support by creating a logical argument based on evidence (sources).

In your paper, make sure to connect each of the events or developments you have chosen back to your main thesis. Ensure you organize your paper effectively to create a flow either along chronologically or thematic lines. For example, a paper about African Americans might choose the Harlem Renaissance and the Black Power Movement as two of its events. In that case, the paper would provide basic information about the two movements. It would explain what each one revealed about the role of African Americans in broader American society in, respectively, the 1920s and the late 1960s, explain how and why the roles of African Americans in the 1920s differed from their roles in the late 1960s, and explain how events in the 1920s may have contributed to developments in the later decade.

The paper must be nine to ten pages in length (excluding title and reference pages) and formatted according to APA style as outlined in the Ashford Writing Center. The paper must include an introduction, a thesis and a conclusion that synthesizes and summarizes the findings of the body paragraphs. You must use at least eight scholarly sources other than the textbook to support your claims. Of the eight scholarly sources, at least two must be primary sources and at least four must be from the Ashford University Library. Many great sources have provided for you in the recommended readings section for each week; feel free to use those in your paper. Cite your sources within the text of your paper and on the reference page. For information regarding APA, including samples and tutorials, visit the Ashford Writing Center, located within the Learning Resources tab on the left navigation toolbar, in your online course.

Writing the Final Paper
The Final Paper:

  2. Must include a title page with the following:
    1. Title of paper
    2. Student’s name
    3. Course name and number

Course Project – Phase 2 on constructing confidence intervals for the population mean, homework help

This week you will begin working on Phase 2 of your course project. Using the same data set and variables for your selected topic, add the following information to your analysis:

Discuss the importance of constructing confidence intervals for the population mean.

What are confidence intervals?

What is a point estimate?

What is the best point estimate for the population mean? Explain.

Why do we need confidence intervals?

Based on your selected topic, evaluate the following:

Find the best point estimate of the population mean.

Construct a 95% confidence interval for the population mean. Assume that your data is normally distributed and σ is unknown.

Please show your work for the construction of this confidence interval and be sure to use the Equation Editor to format your equations.

Write a statement that correctly interprets the confidence interval in context of your selected topic.

Based on your selected topic, evaluate the following:

Find the best point estimate of the population mean.

Construct a 99% confidence interval for the population mean. Assume that your data is normally distributed and σ is unknown.

Please show your work for the construction of this confidence interval and be sure to use the Equation Editor to format your equations.

Write a statement that correctly interprets the confidence interval in context of your selected topic.

Compare and contrast your findings for the 95% and 99% confidence interval.

Did you notice any changes in your interval estimate? Explain.

What conclusion(s) can be drawn about your interval estimates when the confidence level is increased? Explain.

250-500 word response to the assigned story

https://dickatlee.com/poetry/pdfs/waltz_dorothy_parker.pdf

Write a 250-500 word response to the assigned story. Grades on these responses will assess the depth of analysis and engagement with the text.

How closely did you examine the assigned reading? What conclusions did you draw, and why? Did you provide evidence (quotes, paraphrases) from the text to support your assertions? If your reactions to what you read are purely emotional (the reading made you mad, sad, bored, etc.) then you haven’t thought enough about what you read. WHY did you have that reaction? Also under consideration: is your response organized, with full paragraphs, carefully proofread, and submitted on time?

In addition to the post, please post THREE paragraph-length peer responses that respond to specific points made in your peers’ posts. You may agree or disagree, but be sure to respond with an aim towards deepening class discussions, not being “right” or correcting anyone.

ITS405 Portfolio Project Scenario, homework help

Portfolio Project: Deploy and Administer Windows Server 2012 (200 Points)

The Portfolio Project is due at the end of Week 8—the last week and module of the course. This assignment is a means for students to display their mastery of the material, and to provide a creative and realistic way in which to apply knowledge from ITS405.

Create a detailed, organized, and unified technical solution given a scenario described in the document linked below:

ITS405 Portfolio Project Scenario

Your solution should draw on the content presented in the course. The outline below lists points/topics to cover. You are free to provide additional, related information.

Provide technical and justification reasons for each choice, citing resources as appropriate. Provide rough estimates of scheduling and manpower required for deploying your solution. You may summarize the schedule and manpower at the end of the document, or include it separately for each section.

The Windows Server 2012 operating system should be used for all aspects of the solution.

Your solution should cover the following four numbered areas and associated bulleted items listed under each:

  1. Deployment and Server Editions
    • How many total servers are needed? Which roles will be combined?
    • Which edition of Windows Server will be used for each server (e.g., Standard, Data)?
    • Should servers be virtualized using Hyper-V?
    • Where will each of the servers be located (which of the two sites)?
    • How will the servers be deployed?
  2. DNS
    • DNS namespace design (e.g., domain name[s] chosen split DNS for internet/intranet, zones)
    • How will DNS be handled for the second site?
  3. Active Directory
    • Number of AD domains and names of those domains
    • Will there be any Read-Only Domain Controllers?
    • How will the second site factor into domain controller placement? How will AD sites be configured?
  4. File and Printer Sharing
    • What shares might be needed? (Consider some of the reasoning supplied in the relevant chapter of the textbook.)
    • How will quotas/FSRM be configured? (Consider all aspects, such as thresholds, altering, file screens, and reporting.)
    • Will a DFS namespace be implemented?

Your submission will:

  • Be in written format, 6-8 pages in length (not counting diagrams).
  • Include at least one diagram illustrating your chosen Active Directory design with DNS namespace hierarchy.
  • Cite and discuss no fewer than three credible sources, other than course readings and media. The CSU-Global Library is a great place to find these sources.

Document formatting and citations should conform to the CSU-Global Guide to Writing and APA Requirements. Submit your project from the Module 8 Assignments page.

Diversity in healthcare

Diversity in healthcare

Your rough draft must be 3 pages in length. Use proper APA formatting and include a reference page. Your paper should demonstrate a strong thesis statement supported by research from at least 3-5 sources. Contents of your rough draft should include:

  • A detailed explanation of the population chosen which is Asian and muslim community
  • The communication barriers that were presented in the case study.
  • Resources and or policies that were utilized to assist in eliminating or reducing the barriers.
  • Resources or services that could assist but were not utilized in the case study.
  • Final outcome of patient experience and customer service provided.

Understanding the various diverse populations is important in the healthcare industry. NOTE: Diversity may include age, gender, race, ethnicity, religion, and cultural values. This project will enhance your knowledge and understanding of a specific diverse population. You will need to select a diverse population and write a 3 page paper (title page and reference page not included in the page count) about the barriers you may encounter in a customer service capacity within a healthcare setting with that specific population. Once you have selected a population, find a case study that describes a communication barrier and what was done to ensure effective and successful customer service. You will want to explain in detail the barriers that were presented (language, fear, or cultural differences), the reason for the barriers, and also processes followed or implemented to ensure effective customer service.
