Write an essay

  • Explain key factors that contribute to both first language
development and second language development. Explicitly highlight
    similarities and differences.
  • Summarize your observations highlighting the different types of
language speakers and the patterns of interaction. Be sure to include
specific information regarding communication between the adult and
child. Provide specific dialogue/responses from both the adult and child
to support the pattern of interaction you observed. Finally, analyze
trends. Which patterns of interaction were more prevalent and which were
    rarely used.
  • Based on your analysis, indicate the types of activities that
classroom teachers should incorporate in the classroom, so that children
are getting exposure to an array of interaction patterns.

Crisis Communication at Nuance Analysis and Recommendations to Restore Image of Nuance Essay

WHY: This assignment gives you the opportunity to apply course concepts to the analysis of a crisis situation at The Nuance Group, a global consulting firm. Assume Nuance does NOT have a crisis communication plan in place. By analyzing the situation Nuance faces and making recommendations for an effective response to restore its image, you will demonstrate an understanding of the major themes and concepts in organizational communication by synthesizing what you have learned during the course.

WHAT: Based on case 10.1 in the Zaremba textbook, analyze the crisis at Nuance and recommend the image restoration approaches you believe will be most effective in this scenario. Your analysis and recommendations should consist of the following:

Part 1: Analysis: Why is this such a severe crisis for Nuance? What does the crisis tell us about Nuance’s organizational culture and standards of ethical communication?

Part 2: Recommendations for communication action steps to restore the image of Nuance:

  • In order (first, second, third), target audiences and what messages will you deliver?
  • Why will you deliver them in that order?
  • How you will deliver them?

You must apply what you’ve learned about culture, ethical communication, crisis communication, networks, media selection and meetings as you construct your analysis of the events that occurred at Nuance and develop recommendations for responding to the crisis.

You must include a minimum of three direct references from course readings (i.e. Zaremba textbook, assigned articles) used in your analysis, although you will likely use more. You must use the APA style of citation. However, you do not need to list references at the end of the essay.

Follow the rhetorical arrangement provided below (Available posted in Blackboard under the Syllabus and Resource page).

SUGGESTED THESIS MODEL:

Nuance’s problem ________________________________________________________ caused by ______________________________________, ___________________________________, and _____________________________________ can be solved if ____________________________ does ____________________________________, _______________________________, and _________________________________________. (Feel free to list more causes and recommendations).

HOW: Gather your evidence in order to support your thesis.

  • Read the case three times.
    1. First reading: Identify key facts, issues, themes, and characters.
    2. Second reading: Highlight text that discusses: Why is this such a severe crisis for Nuance?
    3. Third reading: Highlight text that discusses: What does the crisis tell us about Nuance’s organizational culture and standards of ethical communication??
  • Write a thesis statement.
  • Write a rough draft and support your thesis with references to the case and course readings.
  • Make sure your rough draft and final draft uses the rhetorical arrangement written below.
  • Here is a link to information about citation: Academic Integrity. Please also answer the questions at this link: Academic Integrity Questionnaire.

Be realistic about what can be communicated within the first 48 hours. Assume Nuance does not have a crisis communication plan in place.

Oxford dictionary defines culture as “The arts and other manifestations of human intellectual achievement regarded collectively.” Each society, country, and culture have numerous nuances that can be difficult for the others to understand.

Managers in today’s multicultural global environment constantly encounter cultural differences, which may create barriers in communication and eventually lead to business failures. To become a successful global manager, you need to equip yourself with necessary knowledge to develop your culture competence.

For years, scholars have been studying country cultures. Several theories were developed, such as Geert Hofstede’s culture dimensions (https://geert-hofstede.com/national-culture.html (Links to an external site.)Links to an external site.) and Edward T. RE: Small Group Discussion Group C – Week 2

Respond by to your colleagues’ responses to the group discussion. In your response, reflect on how a social worker can use a strengths-based perspective to overcome group difficulties.(Please us at least 1 APA reference and be detailed in response)

Response to Mary Kate,

Describe your experience working in groups or as a team:

I attended a four-year university that required group work in almost every single class. At times, I found this group work to be quite frustrating because often my group members and I saw things differently so it took a lot of hard work to get on the same page about assignments. I found that once you start a group project it is important to start a group text if available. Often we would try to work through emails, but students tend to overlook emails, so I have found that using a group text is the most effective form of communication for group work.

Explain the importance of collaborating with different groups and building coalitions in order to advocate for community and policy change:

In order to be an effective advocate, it is important that you are able to work together in a group. It is unlikely that you will be able to advocate for change entirely on your own. Jannsson (2018) explains that policy advocates rarely work alone and that they often come together with other groups in order to advocate for policy change (p. 25). Not only is there strength in numbers, but it is beneficial to work in groups because multiple minds can come up with many great ideas.

Wiki Page

List one strength you will bring to your group:

One strength that I have and can utilize in group work is that I am good an being a leader. In previous group work, I was good at coordinating who would do what and ensuring that the group work was divided evenly and fairly. I believe that it is important that group members feel that the work is being divided fairly and that no one is completing the majority of the work.

Describe a potential difficulty that may occur within the group and explain a strategy you will recommend to your group to address that difficulty:

A potential difficulty that could occur within the group is a lack of time management and the possibility that group members do not complete their group work on time. The only way that a group can be effective is if we all work together to complete the task at hand. I would recommend that my group members could work on time management in order to ensure tasks are being completed.
