PDCA Cycle

PDCA Cycle

One of the most implemented tools to ensure continuous improvement and assessment is the Plan-Do-Check-Act (PDCA) cycle. It is a four-step quality model popularized by Dr. W. Edwards Deming but originally developed by Walter Shewhart in 1939. The cycle is also known as the Shewhart Cycle. The PDCA cycle has similarities to our MSL/Strategic leadership cycle. Both consider the high-level objective (why), consider the pieces connected to achieving the objectives (what) and break them down to practical, measurable action steps (how).

The four components of the PDCA cycle are:

  • Plan: Identify opportunities for change and plan for them. Establish objectives and ensure they are in alignment with strategic objectives.
  • Do: Implement the changes and processes. Break down the large components into smaller, doable phases if needed.
  • Check: Measure the outcomes to determine the efficacy of the plan, determine gaps, and analyze the data against expected results.
  • Act: Once the level of success has been determined, implement the change on a larger scale, involve others, and determine the next objective to be put through the process.

For this discussion question, you will role-play as a high level strategic leader. In particular, you are the CEO of a midsize, threestar hotel chain, and you are stunned to learn from your vice president of customer relations that the most recent results of a guest satisfaction survey at your San Antonio, Texas, property were quite poor. Guests have complained about their negative experiences at the front desk (check-in and checkout), citing exceptionally long waiting time, improperly prepared bills, erroneous charges, rude service, and even possible credit card identity theft.

How would you address this important issue utilizing the PDCA cycle and the characteristics of a strategic leader?

In the first paragraph(s) of your post, provide an overview of the process you will use to address the case study issue. Be sure to leverage strategic leadership concepts in your approach.

After the introductory paragraph(s), devote a succinct paragraph to each step of the PDCA cycle. Review the descriptions of the cycle above to guide your decisions about what should be included at each phase. Clarify connections between the steps as well. Be specific in your discussion and analysis. For example,

  • What are the likely issues?
  • How will you assess to determine those are the issues?
  • What are your expected interventions?
  • How will you assess whether interventions were successful?

Write your plan so that anyone could pick it up and implement it at the hotel.

Responses to your peers should focus on the strategic leadership elements.

Emergency Threats and Measurements

Attacks on our national infrastructure are already happening. And the expectation is that they will continue to increase at an accelerated rate. For this week’s discussion, we’ll cover threats to our nation’s pipelines. To get started, read this article:

https://www.eenews.net/stories/1060054924

After reading the article, start a discussion thread and discuss how the types of threats discussed in the article could impact our economy, and how implementing Commonality (as discussed in chapter 5) could help mitigate these threats.

You must do this following:

1) Create a new thread. As indicated above, discuss how the types of threats discussed in the article referenced above could impact our economy, and how implementing Diversity and Commonality (as discussed in chapters 4 and 5) could help mitigate these threats.

2) Select AT LEAST 3 other students’ threads and post substantive comments on those threads in 3 different days. Your comments should extend the conversation started with the thread.

ALL original posts and comments must be substantive. (I’m looking for about a paragraph – not just “I agree.”)

IT at Champion, management homework help

IT at Champion

Background:

For the past eight months, Champion’s executive management team has struggled to establish new business goals that involve the IS and IT departments. Specifically, they have been unable to link attributes aside from costs with IS and IT activities, and have found it difficult to find value in general IS and IT activities. In addition, the recently-hired CIO has been so consumed with work that she has not addressed this critical issue.

Executives have also struggled to find sufficient IS and IT support for various pieces of the business. The executive team at Champion feels that since the new CIO came on board IS and IT costs have increased without concomitant value to the bottom line. The executive team wants support of various enterprise resources, customers, and general business functions, such as accounting and human resources; however, they also want to see how IS and IT systems bring tangible value to these aspects of the organization.

Finally, Champion executives have heard that some competitors have used Application Service Providers (ASPs) to outsource IS and IT functions, some to India or the Dominican Republic, and they want to see whether there are efficiencies or savings by doing so.

Need to create a detailed 1,750- to 2,450-word (5 to 7 pages) report outlining Champion’s current business support IS and IT implementation and what is required to support IS and IT needs during the next three to five years. Highlight the effects the functions would have on the enterprise’s IT and business units. Each week the Learning Team will have the opportunity to complete part of the final assignment based on the weeks’ learning objectives, with the final report due in Week Six.

The report needs to address the following:

Part 1

  • Compare and contrast the various business support tools IS and IT commonly use to add value to a company, such as Customer Relationship Management (CRM), Supply Chain Management (SCM), and Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems.
  • Determine if any of these are appropriate for Champion.
  • Discuss the advantages and future benefits of each.

Part 2

  • Discuss the pros and cons of each system as it relates to Champion.
  • Based on your analysis, determine which systems best fit Champion’s needs.

part 3

  • Analyze the ASP model and other outsourcing models as they apply to Champion to understand outsourcing as an option. Provide the potential success or downfall of each, including partial outsourcing, single-application ASP support, or network systems outsourcing.
  • Compare a centralized-versus-distributed-server model as an in-house implementation to cut costs. Determine the viability of both as they apply to Champion in order to understand keeping IS/IT functions in-house. Provide the pros and cons of each as they pertain to various business support systems.

Part 4

  • Identify the value each implementation provides, and make a recommendation about which support systems should be operated in-house, which should be outsourced, and which methods of outsourcing should be used.
  • Identify how the organization will measure value of each implementation on an ongoing basis. Describe the process or method the IS and IT departments will use to provide continuing value to the organization.

Part 5

  • Include a synopsis of your conclusions and recommendations to the Champion executives

Discuss the causes of the Great Depression and what steps FDR took to overcome them. Give examples., Modern U.S. History

It consists of three essay questions and you are required to answer all three.  Your answers should be 3-4 typed pages and you may use the internet and other sources if you like, but the wording of your answers must be your own. When answering each question, think of “who, what, when, where and why.”

1.Discuss the causes of the Great Depression and what steps FDR took to overcome them.  Give examples.

2.Discuss some of the reforms associated with the Progressive Era.  Give at least one example of reform for the political, economic and socio-cultural areas.

3.Discuss the general background causes and significance of World War I and what eventually caused the U.S. to enter the war.

These are another student post. Each post
needs to be responded in at least 100 words. This is a discussion board. Please
if you have any questions feel free to ask. This is basically giving feedback
and whether you agree or not.

Post 1

The terms sterilization and disinfection
are often times used in place of one another. There are major differences in
these terms though. Sterilization involves the killing or removing all living
cells from an object (Willey, Sherwood, & Woolverton, 2017, p. 173).
“Disinfection is the killing, inhibition, or removal of microorganisms that may
cause disease” (Willey, Sherwood, & Woolverton, 2017, p. 173). This leaves
many so called good bacteria living. Basically, sterilization kills or removes
all microorganisms, while disinfection only kills or removes harmful
microorganisms. Many antimicrobial chemical agents are disinfectants, because
sterilization is often very harmful to users. It requires very specific usage
in order to not be harmful to people (Willey, Sherwood, & Woolverton, 2017,
p. 183). Sterilization often requires prolonged exposure to the substance in
order to kill all microorganisms. This is often used on medical equipment and
in surgical rooms in order to reduce infection risk (Willey, Sherwood, &
Woolverton, 2017, p. 183). Many of these chemicals must be diluted in order for
safe use. There are several properties of an antimicrobial agent that make it a
good disinfectant. Disinfectants must be effective in destroying
microorganisms, but also safe to use. They should be able to be stored for long
term use, be effective in killing or removal of harmful microorganisms without
being harmful to the user. Disinfecting agents must also be cost effective.
They should also not have a overly strong or unpleasant smell (Willey,
Sherwood, & Woolverton, 2017, p. 180).

Post 2

Quorum sensing is like the communication for
one bacteria to another “cell-cell communication”. This communication between
cells is very important because the development of these organisms rely on it.
Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria use quorum sensing communication
circuits to regulate the process of development of multicellular organisms.
These processes include symbiosis, virulence, antibiotic production, motility,
and biofilm formation. Gram-negative bacteria use acylated homoserine lactones
as autoinducers, and Gram-positive bacteria use processed oligo-peptides to
communicate. These new discoveries can help figure out which bacteria will
respond to the different drug treatments. Learning the way that these cells
communicate with on another will help build stronger drugs. Biofilm formation
puts treatments for infectious disease in a very challenging place. It allows
the cells to attach to many surfaces and is very resistant to most treatments.
The biofim formation created a better environment for bacteria to survive,
making them stronger and harder to get rid of.

General structure of your policy analysis, law homework help

I have to write a 10 – 12 page research paper on an important ethical subject that develop an ethics policy. In essence, I have the opportunity to solve an ethical dilemma on a grand scale. I must create a policy and/or a recommendation to a state governing agency about how this ethical issue should be handled moving forward. My choices should be fueled by empirical research and scholarly sources on the subject.

General structure of your policy analysis
1. Conduct a brief review/synopsis of the relevant facts.
2. Identify what you believe to be the major ethical issues and the relevant underlying values of each opposing side.
3. Set forth your recommendations for the continued use, modification, or discontinuation of this policy. Your decision must have some sort of rationale behind it. This is where you will present an answer to the policy issue at hand. Before you can do this, you will have to decide on what ethical system underlies your analysis. There is no right/wrong system of ethics—choose the one with which you most closely identify. If you are a utilitarian, your stance may be very different than if you identify with ethical formalism or an ethic of care. But, as we know from our class exercises, despite our different ethical systems, we may encounter the same results.

The corporation is Amazon

Using the corporation you chose from Assignment 1, examine its industry. Research the company on its own Website, the public filings on the Securities and Exchange Commission EDGAR database (http://www.sec.gov/edgar.shtml), in the University’s online databases, and any other sources you can find. The annual report will often provide insights that can help address some of these questions.

Write an eight to ten (9-10) page paper in which you:

  1. Choose the two (2) segments of the general environment that would rank highest in their influence on the corporation you chose. Assess how these segments affect the corporation you chose and the industry in which it operates.
  2. Considering the five (5) forces of competition, choose the two (2) that you estimate are the most significant for the corporation you chose. Evaluate how well the company has addressed these two (2) forces in the recent past.
  3. With the same two (2) forces in mind, predict what the company might do to improve its ability to address these forces in the near future.
  4. Assess the external threats affecting this corporation and the opportunities available to the corporation. Give your opinions on how the corporation should deal with the most serious threat and the greatest opportunity. Justify your answer.
  5. Give your opinion on the corporation’s greatest strengths and most significant weaknesses. Choose the strategy or tactic the corporation should select to take maximum advantage of its strengths, and the strategy or tactic the corporation should select to fix its most significant weakness. Justify your choices.
  6. Determine the company’s resources, capabilities, and core competencies.
  7. Analyze the company’s value chain to determine where they can create value using the resources, capabilities, and core competencies discussed above.
  8. Use at least three (3) quality references. Note: Wikipedia and other Websites do not quality as academic resources.

Your assignment must follow these formatting requirements:

  • Be typed, double-spaced, using Times New Roman font (size 12), with one-inch margins on all sides.
  • Citations and references must follow APA or school-specific format.

Origins of Crime: Biological, Developmental, or Situational

Prior to beginning the assignment, review Chapters 2, 3, and 4 in your textbook, where risk factors for criminal behavior are covered from a biological, developmental, and situational perspective. Keeping your own “client” in mind (that you chose for your final paper), please read the chapters and in this assignment please cover the following:

  • Assess the role (briefly) that all three (biological, developmental, and situational) perspectives play in influencing criminal behavior.
  • Choose one of the three perspectives (biological, developmental, or situational).
  • Evaluate the relationship between your chosen perspective and criminal behavior.
  • Illustrate a link between your client’s crimes and your chosen perspective based on the client you chose for your Comprehensive Case Study Report Final Paper.

Be sure to use examples from the textbook and your client’s case to support your assertions.
