Take note of the opportunities for communication you passed up, how it felt when you couldn’t communicate, and how others reacted toward you. Once you get an initial reaction, if your behavior seems to be upsetting those around you, give a brief explanation that you are conducting an exercise for a communications class, and then go back to being non-communicative. Regardless of how easy it is to immediately determine the cause of the disaster, what is the person’s first reaction? Does he or she see the blame for the disaster as being human, as being natural, or as being related to God? This blame can be seen in the statements and questions that go through the person’s head-both immediately and as a better understanding is sought. This reveals significant information about the person’s spirituality.

This cause that it “blamed” for the disaster speaks to the belief structure that the person views the world through. It determines how he or she has been viewing established meaning. It also speaks to how the person perceives community, as well as how participation in community should be and how it is influenced.

When God is the focus of the blame, there are a number of ways this can manifest. From listening to the way the individual describes God’s role in the world and God’s relationship to human beings, significant elements of the individual’s spirituality can be discovered (Smith, 2013).

A community nurse can assist in the spiritual care by consoling the victims by listening to them and comforting them. Establishing a trusting relationship with them will help for them to open up express their concerns, also they will feel safe and secure with the nurse. The nurse can instill faith and hope in the victims and assist with basic physical, emotional and spiritual needs.  If the victims need additional help the nurse can provide them with resources to get in contact with.

Literary Analysis- Dickinson, “The Last Night She Lived”

The last Night that She lived

It was a Common Night
Except the Dying—this to Us
Made Nature different

We noticed smallest things—
Things overlooked before
By this great light upon our Minds
Italicized—as ’twere.

As We went out and in
Between Her final Room
And Rooms where Those to be alive
Tomorrow were, a Blame

That Others could exist
While She must finish quite
A Jealousy for Her arose
So nearly infinite—

We waited while She passed—
It was a narrow time—
Too jostled were Our Souls to speak
At length the notice came.

She mentioned, and forgot—
Then lightly as a Reed
Bent to the Water, struggled scarce—
Consented, and was dead—

And We—We placed the Hair—
And drew the Head erect—
And then an awful leisure was
Belief to regulate—

Response to Discussion Question

I need a response to the discussion question below it have to be a least 150 words make sure to use reference. I will put the question they had to answer so it would help you respond to the response below.

Provide a general description of the organization you are/were employed or affiliated with; what are its problems and what changes do you believe are needed?

This is the discussion question that need response:

Select and describe your organization

The company I selected was Wal-Mart, of which I was employed with several years back. Wal-Mart is a multinational American retail corporation, which is comprised of consumer goods and grocery items; it also is made up of hypermarkets and Sam’s club. The company is the world’s largest private employer, which employs 2.2 million people. The company was founded by Sam Walton back in 1962 and was family-run until 2014 now; the company is run by a board of directors. The founder’s vision for Wal-Mart was to sell a lot of products at low prices, and profits were secondary to customer satisfaction.

Problems

Wal-Mart has a multitude of issues such as low wages, lousy health coverage, profit sharing, lack of supervision, overloading workers, and no unions allowed. I see reports that state that Wal-Mart employees received on average $10.00 an hour back in 2006, but that is not the case here in Alabama, I started out making only $8.25 an hour back in 2014. Employees receive raises each year, which amount to only $0.50 an hour more. Healthcare coverage is for full-time employees, and part-time employees have to wait a year before they can get healthcare. Profit-sharing is non-existent unless you are a manager. Full-time employees receive about $300 each year in profit share; whereas the store manager can receive up to $10,000 in profit shares. When employees are assigned to an area to cover, one many see a manager about three times during an eight-hour shift. During most shifts, employees may have to cover multiple areas, or employees are held over their shifts to complete tasks. The very first thing a new employee is told is that Wal-Mart does not have a union, and if a union representative approaches you after work, you are required to report it to management. Union talk is discouraged at Wal-Mart.

Changes Needed

I see that Wal-Mart has raised its minimum wage to $10.00 an hour now, which as a step in the right direction. Healthcare needs to be available to all employees upon being hired, no matter if they are full or part-time. Profit-sharing needs to be better distributed among its employees. However, managers should still get a more significant piece of the pie, so to speak, because their jobs entail a lot more detail and accountability. Managers need to take a step back and follow the example of the company’s founder and put employees and customers first instead of sales and profits. I am not sure if unions are a good thing or not, but unions can help protect employee’s jobs, get wage increases, and prevent the company from firing a person for minor things.
