Accounting is the study of how businesses track their income and assets over time. Accountants engage in a wide variety of activities in addition to preparing financial statements and recording business transactions. These activities include computing costs and efficiency gains from new technologies, participating in strategies for mergers and acquisitions, quality management, developing and using information systems to track financial performance, tax strategy, and health care benefits management.

Use the Internet or the Strayer Online database to research career options within the accounting field and accounting job postings in your local area to respond to the questions in the assignment.

Write a one to two (1-2) page paper in which you:

1. Describe at least two (2) career options someone with an accounting education can pursue. Be sure to reference sources such as the Bureau of Labor Statistics and the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants.
2. Describe one (1) researched accounting position, and explain the essential skills that would make a candidate successful in the position. Articulate the primary manner in which the researched accounting positions could add value to the company seeking candidates.
3. Use at least two (2) quality academic resources in this assignment. Note: Wikipedia and other Websites do not qualify as academic resources.
4. Format your assignment according to the following formatting requirements:

Week 8 paper

Forensic psychology professionals working in clinical forensic settings such as state hospitals or prisons often are tasked with assessing whether a patient may be at significant risk for committing suicide. If a person is assessed to be suicidal, then involuntary hospitalization of the patient likely will follow. However, in the United States where the right to life and liberty are protected by the Constitution, to deprive a person of his or her liberty requires extraordinary circumstances. State statutes vary in their language regarding involuntary psychiatric hospitalization, but the underlying threshold common to all such statutes is when someone is eminently dangerous to self or others. One type of research of use to forensic psychology professionals working in clinical settings is that which studies the potential risk for suicide.

To prepare for this assignment:

• Using the Library or scholar google, conduct a search for an article that addresses suicide risk, evaluation of suicide potential, and/or involuntary hospitalization of forensic populations. Select one such article for use in this assignment.
• Carefully review the article paying close attention to the subjects being studied, the assessment instruments used, the method of study, and the results/recommendations.
• Consider how the data contained in and the results of this research study might be used by forensic psychology professionals in clinical forensic settings.

The assignment (1–2 pages):

• In APA formatting briefly summarize the research study you selected. Be sure to include the data and results of the study that you think are applicable to clinical forensic settings.
• Explain how a forensic psychology professional might apply the information in this research study to a clinical forensic setting, and in what circumstances, including but not limited to situations in which a forensic psychology professional must conduct an evaluation of a patient for his or her potential suicide risk and/or potential involuntary hospitalization. Be specific.

1. The core method of anthropology is ethnography. It requires participant observation, the use of symbols, finding a key informant, thick description, and conversations with natives. Using Spradley Ethnography and Culture, Next door but Invisible, and Growing up Hunting, describe in detail how the method works. Contrast Next Door but Invisible and Growing Up Hunting in terms of the guiding (why) and subsidiary (who, what, and how) questions asked, the techniques used, and the potential results.
2. As anthropologists we are trying to get at the cognitive maps of people in different cultures. Using Shakespeare in the Bush, Space Speaks, Wears Jump Suits…, and A Look Behind the Veil describe what is essential in the cognitive maps described in each. Give an example from each article, showing one aspect of how their/our cognition shapes the way we actually behave.
3. Corporate culture analysis starts with the idea that businesses are cultural, because like cultures in general they need to solve problems, evolve different cognitive maps, sets of social relationships, etc. Describe, using How and why Corporations are Cultures, some of the cultural characteristics of businesses. Give an example of cultural ideologies. Explain why this method should help you even in dealing with foreign business culture, using Using Skills for Cooperative Advantage in Japan.
4. Anthropologists are interested not only in the cognitive map, but the behaviors that derive from it. Using Life Without Chiefs, When Brothers Share a Wife show how the requirements of societies shape the way we practice marriage, and organize our societies to accomplish ends. How does this organization of relationships affect tribal societies? In a pluralistic state like ours, using Gross, Ethnicity and How we got the Color of our Skin, how do we define and rank people according to their differences. Give examples.
5. As I said in question 4, behavior is as critical to explain other cultures as the cognitive maps that generate behavior. Survival and providing people in a culture what they need to survive and what the culture tells them in addition they should want (luxuries and other markers of status or group affiliation). Using Subsistence Strategies and the Organization of Social Life describe how the different kinds of production of food required different kinds of organization. What does modern American food getting (i.e. livelihood) create in terms of structure? How do we value the things we produce and use them to establish our social place? Does money change the nature of social relationships in a tribal society (Rambo, From Shells to Money)? How does money affect our relations with one another in structuring American Society?
6. One of the deepest sources of our view of the world (cognition) is religion. Using Religion, Meanings, Values, and Social Action define religion. What needs does it fill for individuals? Explain how each religion’s Big Question defines the nature of the divine (God, Allah, gods, spirits), how it defines both our view of the way the world works and our system of values (ethos)? Why are social movements often based on religious ideas and led by religious practitioners? Why does Geertz define it a cultural system of symbols? How do myths and tales make the ideas of religion, especially tribal shamanistic (Sound of Rushing Water) and early state religion (Persephone and Demeter), real? How do rituals make religious ideas real?
