Throughout Chapters 5 and 6 of your textbook, we have explored many areas of health and wellness this week. For your Week 3 assignment you will develop one of these themes into a story or presentation for children and their families.
To begin, choose one of the following health and wellness themes:

• Staying Healthy in School

Next, decide if you want to present your theme as a story using Storybird (Links to an external site.)Links to an external site.or a presentation using PowerPoint. Your story or presentation must contain the following:

1. A clear focus on one health and wellness theme from the list above.
2. Be written for an audience of children and their families
3. At least five teaching points that are directly related to your chosen theme. The teaching points you share could be facts from the textbook, ideas, strategies, or information relating to your chosen theme that are important to understand. For example, if you choose to develop a story based on the theme of illness/infection prevention you might have a child who gets sick and has to visit the doctor. While at the doctor’s office, the child learns about five ways to prevent illness/infection. If you chose to create a presentation on this theme, you would need to include at least five examples of how you can prevent illness/infection that you want the children and families viewing your presentation to understand.
4. At least five images, sounds, or audio features that enhance your story or presentation.
5. A resource page with at least three child and family friendly resources that could be used for the family to learn more information about the theme of your story or presentation. This is separate from your reference page for the assignment.
6. Your story or presentation should be at least ten pages/slides in length (not including the title and reference pages/slides). You will include at least two scholarly sources to support your theme. Be sure to cite these in APA format on the reference page.

Writing Your Narrative Essay

Prewriting

To get started writing your essay:

• Review What is an Essay?
• Take time to review possible subjects
• Use prewriting to help you narrow your topic to one experience.

Remember that “story starters” are everywhere. Think about it—status updates on social media websites can be a good place to start. You may have already started a “note”on Facebook, and now is your chance to develop that idea into a full narrative. If you keep a journal or diary, a simple event may unfold into a narrative. Simply said, your stories may be closer than you think!

Drafting

When drafting your essay:

• Develop an enticing title—but don’t let yourself get stuck on the title! A great title might suggest itself after you’ve begun the prewriting and drafting processes.
• Use the introduction to establish the situation the essay will address.
• Avoid addressing the assignment directly. (For example, don’t write “I am going to write about my most significant experience,” because this takes the fun out of reading the work!)
• Think of things said at the moment this experience started for you—perhaps use a quote, or an interesting part of the experience that will grab the reader.
• Let the story reflect your own voice. (Is your voice serious? Humorous? Matter-of-fact?)
• Organize the essay in a way that
  • Establishes the situation [introduction];
  • Introduces the complication(s) [body]; and
  • States the lesson you learned [conclusion]
• To avoid just telling what happens, make sure your essay takes time to reflect on why this experience is significant.

Volunteer tourism represents an emerging tourism sector for those who want to make a difference while on vacation as well as ensuring that local communities benefit both environmentally and economically (Coren & Gray, 2012). Organisations such as World Wildlife Fund, Antipodeans, Conservation International, Australian Volunteers, to name just a few, are offering volunteer tourism expeditions to Australians. The literature review identifies four motivational themes of cultural immersion, seeking camaraderie, giving back, and bonding opportunities among the segments of volunteer tourists (McGehee & Clemmons, 2008).
