Identifying Fallacies, english assignment help

Identifying Fallacies

This week’s lecture focused on applying some of the intellectual standards discussed in previous weeks and applying them to the news media. This week’s lecture also focused on the different fallacies that individuals make when trying to persuade you. Think of some of the disagreements or arguments you have had in the past – either at a personal, educational or professional level. Describe the disagreement or argument. What kinds of fallacies did you or they use as part of the argument? Was it persuasive? Did you feel good critical thinking was used in any of your examples?

Your work should be at least 500 words, but mostly draw from your own personal experience. This should be written in first person and give examples from your life. Be sure if you are using information from the readings that you properly cite your readings in this, and in all assignments.

ase study of Merck Corporation, business and finance homework help

Complete a case study of Merck Corporation (your instructor will assign the specific company for the case study at the beginning of Module/Week 6), in the case section of the text (e.g. Case Number 3).

A formal, in-depth case study analysis requires you to utilize the entire strategic management process. Assume your group is a consulting team asked by the ABC Corporation to analyze its external/internal environment and make strategic recommendations. You must include exhibits to support your analysis and recommendations.

Substance abuse module 5,6,7 & 8

Quoted material is not allowed. You must cite paraphrased information that was obtained from another source. APA style.

Module 5

Smoking Effects on the Family

In a post of at least 150 words discuss, what effects might smoking have on other members in a household (think beyond the obvious secondhand smoke issues)? If you grew up in a home with smokers, think about your experiences. Do you think smoking is a “solitary habit”?

Module 5

Legal Age for Caffeine?

In a post of at least 150 words discuss: Should there be a “legal age limit” for the use of caffeine? In other words, do you think that it should be illegal for children, adolescents, and teens to consume or be served caffeine or caffeinated products? Defend your answer – provide appropriate citations.

Module 6

Steroids

Steroid use/abuse has become a common topic of discussion in our society. Although they have appropriate medical treatment uses, it seems that the focus on them is, in general, negative. After you have read the chapters for this week, click on the short video (linked on the Module 6 landing page under the required readings).

150 words….Then, discuss your thoughts and perspectives on this statement: Steroids are the lifestyle drug. For example, What does that statement mean to you? What evidence do you see to support or refute the statement? Are steroids so entrenched into our society that they are here to stay?

Module 6

Impact on the Family

Find a scholarly journal article (NOT just information posted on a website!) that relates to the impact on the family/family system of one of the substances in your readings this week. Your article should be no more than 5 years old.

Post a 8-10 sentence summary of what you learn from the article (i.e., main points), include the citation and a link to the article so that we all may read it. Attach the article to your post so that others may review and discuss in their peer posts. Note: do not simply look at the abstract and post some words that you see included there. As always, read the entire article and provide a solid summary/synthesis of the information in your post. Do not quote material from the article. I expect a well-developed, scholarly post.

Module 7

Controlled Drinking/use

In a post of at least 200 words, discuss the feasibility of controlled drinking (i.e., social use) as a realistic goal for those who are dependent on alcohol, citing evidence of support for, as well as of opposition to, this concept of treatment.Consider, for example, whether or not “addiction” is the polar opposite of “controlled drinking” or “social drinking”.

Module 8

Prevention, Intervention, Treatment

In a post of at least 150 words discuss: Which strategies seem to provide the most successful results for long-lasting effects on changing drug-using behavior? For example, do self-help groups (AA; NA, CA, etc.) show strong success in changing addicts using behaviors? Do we have successful strategies to prevent substance abuse and addiction? Where do you think we should aim our efforts in the future?

Module 8

Reflect and Summarize

Post an approximately 200 word summary that reflects on and summarizes:

  • What you have learned in this course and how you might apply the information to your professional practice or your daily life.
  • What information had the greatest impact on you? Were there topics that spurred you to dig further for more information, that made you uncomfortable or that led you to reflect more deeply?

“Plan, Do and Report”

Project Final Report Assignment

Instructor:Don Kalescky

The following will give you some guidance for completing your final project report. You have completed the preliminary four staged assignments and culminating now in your final report.

The purpose of this project has been to provide you practical experience in preparing a business report using statistical analysis based on a “Plan, Do and Report” process.

This final report is worth 40 points of the project point total of 100 points.

You have not limited to feedback as each assignment has been assigned, including the final report.I will be glad to review “drafts” or questions as you progress.

  • If you are not familiar with business reports it is suggested that you spend some time doing so.There are guidelines in Business Communications textbooks, on line resources and from me.
  • Consider the following organization:
    • Introduction
    • Executive summary
    • Body of the report
    • Addenda (references, appendices, and index)
  • Make your first draft.
  • Review your draft(s) and then make your final draft.
  • Be sure to include your sources.
  • Make your report professional.A professional report reflects well on the author and the absence will detract from your conclusions.
  • Reports are to be typed.Hand written reports are not appropriate in business.

Submit your report via Blackboard.

Integrating Data Assessment in Organizational Decision Making

For this assignment, you will create a Microsoft PowerPoint slide show.

Continue your research on the specific HEDIS measure you used in Unit
3. In this unit, you need to research other health care quality
initiatives related to your chosen measure. For example, the Institute
for Healthcare Improvement helps health care organizations track and
report data. The Agency for Healthcare Research (AHRQ) provides funding
and publishes research on many different quality measures. Using the
HEDIS information, the State of Healthcare Quality reports, and any
other information you have found in your search of the major health care
quality groups and your Capella library research, create a 12-slide Microsoft PowerPoint slide show.

Take the viewpoint of a consultant presenting this information to a health care administrator.

  • Discuss the importance of your chosen measure and why the
organization should work on this particular measure by providing
statistics and details related to your HEDIS measure.
  • Integrate the financial benefits of working with this specific data to improve organizational integration of your HEDIS measure.

Your PowerPoint presentation should have a title slide, speaker
notes, and references. While color and clip art are welcome, there is no
need for voice-over or for special features.

The PowerPoint presentation must include:

  • Correct citations including the Web site or sites used for resource information.
  • References to the specific data studied or included in the PowerPoint presentation.
  • An analysis of how the HEDIS measure is applicable to quality
improvement, explaining how organizations quantify the outcome of your
    chosen measure.
  • An evaluative component that evaluates the improvement trend for
your current HEDIS measure topic. You may discuss if this is a new
measure based on a specific finding or if this is an ongoing measure
with years worth of data reported.
  • A recommendation on the value of the specific HEDIS measure or
similar topical measure. Consider if this HEDIS measure is met by most
organizations–what would be the anticipated health outcomes for the
    facility, organization, or community?

Abortion doesn’t lead to psychological problems, psychology homework help

1.Each student is required to do two reaction papers for the course.

2.The paper will be graded as “S” Satisfactory or “U” Unsatisfactory.

3.To achieve an “S”, spelling, grammar, and organization must be good. In addition, the content of the paper should follow these guidelines.

a.The paper must be at least 3 complete, double-spaced pages and stapled at the top. A cover sheet should be attached that includes reaction paper title, your name, name of course, and time of course. Pages of the paper should be numbered.

b.The first page should review the Yes side of the issue as presented by the author. The second page should review the No side as presented by the other author. The third page (and fourth if you choose) is your response to the topic–”Yes” or “No”–including how your response was influenced by the two authors’ arguments.

4.If you receive two S’s, it will add +2% to your final grade average; one S and one U adds +.5%; no S’s subtracts –5% from your average. Additionally, you may correct and resubmit one U paper in order to raise the grade to an S. When you submit the corrected paper, the original must be attached to it and your corrections underlined/highlighted on your revised paper. Corrections are due the next class after you received the original graded paper. Failure to not follow these guidelines will result in a U on the corrected paper.

5.You are required to attend two of the group discussions associated with the reaction papers. An unexcused absence from a group discussion subtracts –4.00% from your final grade average; in addition, your reaction paper for that group will not be accepted and therefore graded as a U.

6. Grading Critera. THE FOLLOWING ERRORS WILL RESULT IN A U GRADE:

a.One incomplete sentence. Example: Which Tom decided not to buy.

b.One run-on sentence (two sentences punctuated as one). Example: Sheila tried to win the race however she fell during the last lap.

c.Two misspelled words.

d.A significant error in understanding the reading assignment.

e.Inadequate coverage of the topic.

f.Less than the required length of the paper.

g.No cover page.

h.Omission of any of the criteria in #3.

PSY 121 FINAL PAPER GUIDELINES

Final paper is due Thursday, December 8. Grade will be S (Satisfactory; +1% added to your final grade average) or U (Unsatisfactory; -3% subtracted from your final grade average). Paper must be about 2 complete double spaced pages in length and no longer than 2 ¼ pages in length. Below are the directions.

Each student will be required to choose a psychological concept or topic from what we have covered in class (either from chapter assignments or from class discussions). First, you must provide a clear summary of the topic, including a brief description (in your OWN words) of what psychologists and researchers have learned relevant to the topic. You must think critically about what we do and do not know about the topic based on the research found in the text or reviewed in class. You may choose to have additional references for this portion of your paper, but they are not required. Then, discuss how it relates to a real-world topic of your choosing. NOTE: the real-world topic and psychological concept you choose must relate directly to the course. If the connection to the course seems unclear, make it clear in your paper. That is, you must write about something in the news or something you or a friend have experienced that directly relates to something in class. You must describe HOW it relates. Give many clear examples illustrating the connection. Basically, and most importantly, show me that you have thought critically about it. Don’t just summarize the issue. Tell me how it is related to something you find interesting.

To summarize, here are the instructions on writing a satisfactory final paper:

1. Choose a psychological concept or topic (e.g., depression, short-term memory, classical conditioning, sleep, introversion/extraversion, psychotherapy) from what we have covered in class either from chapter assignments, Taking Sides articles, or class discussions. Explain why it interests you.
2. The topic you choose must relate directly to the course. If the connection to the course seems unclear, make it clear in your paper.
3. Clearly describe the psychological topic you are addressing and provide a brief description of what psychologists have learned about this topic.
4. Relate the topic to a few examples in your own life, the lives of others, and/or an issue that relates to society in general (e.g., something in the news).

the paper should be about one topic

I’ll put four topics and you can pick one

applying nursing practice to research

Overview

Imagine you are on a team at
your workplace and have identified a new best practice to implement. In
this assignment, you will describe the steps of implementing this new
practice. This will require you to do some research of your own about
how change comes about in your workplace. You will need to check your
policies and procedures and may need to talk with a supervisor with
experience in this area. You will need to support your thoughts on why
you think a change needs to occur. This should be done by using the
literature.

Objectives

  • Differentiate among research, research utilization, and evidence-based practice
  • Identify the steps of evidence-based practice
