Entries should be in response to any of the assigned readings in our literature book for this class.

Your entries must include:

1. A debatable thesis statement
   Like any argument paper you have ever written for a first-year composition course, you must have a specific, detailed thesis statement that reveals your perspective, and, like any good argument, your perspective must be one which is debatable.
2. An argument
   When you write a literary essay, you are essentially making an argument. You are arguing that your perspective-an interpretation, an evaluative judgment, or a critical evaluation-is a valid one.
3. Evidence from the text
   Your argument must include evidence from the text to help support your perspective. With that said, make sure that your voice and perspective are prominent in the writing. The source material should just be there to support your argument, not make it for you.

Example Arguments:
*Please note: These examples include authors/texts not included in this course (such as Shakespeare). This is intentional as it allows me to demonstrate solid arguments without giving away free thesis statements (since you can’t write about the texts used in the examples).

You would not want to make an argument of this sort:
Shakespeare’s Hamlet is a play about a young man who seeks revenge.

That doesn’t say anything-it’s basically just a summary and is hardly debatable.

A better thesis would be this:
Hamlet experiences internal conflict because he is in love with his mother.

That is debatable, controversial even. The rest of a paper with this argument as its thesis will be an attempt to show, using specific examples from the text and evidence from scholars, (1) how Hamlet is in love with his mother, (2) why he’s in love with her, and (3) what implications there are for reading the play in this manner.

You also want to avoid a thesis statement like this:
Spirituality means different things to different people. King Lear, The
Book of Romans, and Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance each view the spirit differently.

Again, that says nothing that’s not already self-evident. Why bother writing a paper about that? You’re not writing an essay to list works that have nothing in common other than a general topic like “spirituality.” You want to find certain works or authors that, while they may have several differences, do have some specific, unifying point. That point is your thesis.
A better thesis would be this:
Lear, Romans, and Zen each view the soul as the center of human personality.

Then you prove it, using examples from the texts that show that the soul is the center of personality.

What kinds of topics are good ones?
The best topics are ones that originate out of your own reading of a work of literature, but here are some common approaches to consider:

A discussion of a work’s characters: are they realistic, symbolic, or historically-based?

A comparison/contrast of the choices different authors or characters make in a work

A reading of a work based on an outside philosophical perspective (Ex. how would a Freudian read Hamlet?)

A study of the sources or historical events that occasioned a particular work (Ex. comparing G.B. Shaw’s Pygmalion with the original Greek myth of Pygmalion)

An analysis of a specific image occurring in several works (Ex. the use of moon imagery in certain plays, poems, novels)

A “deconstruction” of a particular work (Ex. unfolding an underlying racist worldview in Joseph Conrad’s Heart of Darkness)

A reading from a political perspective (Ex. how would a Marxist read William Blake’s “London”?)

A study of the social, political, or economic context in which a work was written — how does the context influence the work?

Performance Measures

In healthcare, the terms “balanced scorecard” and a “dashboard” are used to describe performance measurement tools that are broad in scope but summarized in a few key indicators. In this assignment, you will create a specific dashboard for an operating Week of a healthcare organization.

Tasks:

• Select and describe a specific division of a larger healthcare organization, such as an emergency department, a surgical service, or a physician practice.
• Locate at least three recent (within the past three years) journal articles from professional, peer-reviewed journals that discuss dashboard, balanced scorecard, and performance measurement in your chosen healthcare division.
• Write a review of each article and include complete citations.
• Based on the information learned, create and justify the need for four categories of measurement, such as customer satisfaction or financial performance. For each of these four categories, create three specific performance measures. For each measure, describe how it is calculated and/or where the data can be found.
• Explain how the performance measures may change if the analysis is for the organization as a whole rather than a division of the organization.

I have written half of it already. I am currently stuck at the framework portion of the prospectus. Everything must be aligned with my research topic you can not go off topic. Also I have the research questions already so you don’t need to worry about that portion of the paper.

I will attach what I have so far and also an example of what a finish prospectus should look like for you to mirror.

Framework it is either conceptual or theoretical I got stuck here and couldn’t decide which is should be. This is also only one paragraph long.

Research Questions I have them already I can give them to you or put them in myself you let me know.

Research Methodology and Design all I am certain of at the moment is that my paper is qualitative that is your starting point. This also is about one paragraph long.

So to recap I am just missing two more paragraphs and a list so to speak. I thought about it I am going to provide you with my research questions that might give you better guidance.

RQ1. What are the perceptions of administrators on their knowledge of how special education works within their school?

RQ 2. How do administrators with special education knowledge engage with campus proceeding dealing with students who qualify for special education services?

RQ 3. What are the perceptions of administrations on having adequate foundational knowledge in special educations to effectively serve students with disabilities?

RQ 4. What is the score scale fo certified administrators in Southeast Texas regarding the special education law on the Knowledge of Special Education Law Survey?

To this point, you have submitted the topic, the outline and the bibliography.

In this unit, you need to submit the rough draft, as far as you have gotten, for feedback and improvement, for your final draft.

In Unit 2, you did the below: —

As preparation for the final research paper, you formulated a theory about the correlation between measurable independent variables (causes) and one measurable dependent variable (the effect). Be sure to have at least two independent variables for proposed research paper. This rough draft should include the following four items which serve as the foundation for the final research paper after instructor feedback is given.

Unit 5: 20 points (These steps total to 50 points).

Create a draft of your report including the data. This copy of the data may be in an Excel spreadsheet.

1) Purpose Statement [20%]

In one paragraph, state the correlation and identify the primary independent variables.

State the correlation as in the following:

“The dependent variable _______ is determined by independent variables ________, _________, ________, and ________.”

Identify and defend the “primary” independent variable, or the variable believed to have the strongest impact on the dependent variable:

“The most important independent variable in this relationship is ________ because _________.”

2) Definition of Variables [20%]

For each variable, write a single definition paragraph talking about the variable. Paragraphs should be in this order: dependent variable, primary independent variable, and three independent variables.

In addition to defining the independent variables, defend why each determines the dependent variable.

For the primary independent variable, at least two research sources that discuss the variable also must be cited. These sources need not be technical documents but should contain evidence to justify the relationship between the primary independent variable and the dependent variable. List these sources in the Works Cited (reference) page.

**Note: Citations from encyclopedias, Wikipedia, blogs, abstracts, or non-governmental websites are not acceptable research sources.

3) Data Description [20%]

For each of the variables, at least 30 observations of cross-sectional data must be obtained. Thus for the final research paper, a data matrix that is at least 30 rows by numbers of variables must be presented.

In one paragraph, identify the data sources and describe the data (i.e., which government agencies supply the data, which methods are used to compile them, when they were collected, etc.).

4) Works Cited Page [20%]

The final page of the proposal should be a Works Cited page listing the two research sources for the primary independent variable and the data sources, with a separate citation for each table of data, including specific table numbers for each of the sources.
