Art Museum

Due Week 9 and worth 100 points

Visit a museum or art gallery before the end of Week 9. If you are unable to get to a museum or gallery within your area, then a “create your own museum” assignment can be completed in its place (see Option 2 details below). The museum or gallery should have content that fits our course well. Here is some information about the museum visit in person:

  • It makes sense to approach a museum the way a seasoned traveler approaches visiting a city for the first time. Find out what is available to see. In the museum, find out what sort of exhibitions are currently housed in the museum and start with the exhibits that interest you.
  • If there is a traveling exhibition, it’s always a good idea to see it while you have the chance. Then, if you have time, you can look at other things.
  • The quality of your experience is not measured by the amount of time you spend in the galleries or the number of works of art that you see.
  • The most rewarding experiences can come from finding ten (10) works of art by five (5) different artists who intrigue you and then considering those works in leisurely contemplation. Most museums have benches where you can sit and study a particular piece.

Option 1: Visiting a Museum

Write a two to three (2-3) page report (500-750 words) that describes your experience.

    1. Clearly identify the event location, date attended, the attendees, and your initial reaction upon arriving at the museum or gallery.
    2. Provide specific information and a description of at least ten (10) pieces by a minimum of five (5) different artists.
    3. Provide a summary of the pieces and describe your overall reaction after viewing them.
    4. Use the class text as a reference (additional sources are fine, but not necessary unless required by your content). Your report should include connections you make between things observed in your activity and things learned in the course and text.

Option 2: Create and Curate Your Own Art Museum

For this paper, you will select and curate ten (10) works of art to include in your own Art Museum. Use the text and online sources to help you find these works of art. This assignment is an alternative option for visiting a museum or art gallery.

After researching, answer the following questions by writing a two to three (2-3) page report, (750-800 words) that describes your experience.

  1. Select ten (10) works of art from at least five (5) artists from different time periods discussed in the text, 18th century to modern times.
  2. Provide a brief description of each piece and a picture if possible, explaining why you chose each piece.
  3. Describe where and how you would display each piece, whether individually or grouped together.
  4. Describe the museum attendees, the admission charges, the advertising programs, and your role as museum founder and curator. Give your museum a name and a location.
  • Use at least the class text as a reference (additional sources are fine but not necessary unless required by your content). Your report should include connections you make between things observed in your activity and things learned in the course and text.

Your assignment must follow these formatting requirements:

  • Be typed, double-spaced, using Times New Roman font (size 12), with one-inch margins on all sides; citations and references must follow Strayer Writing Standards (SWS) format. Check with your professor for any additional instructions. (Note: Students can find Strayer Writing Standards materials located in the Additional Resources section of their Student Center within their course shell for reference.)
  • Include a cover page containing the title of the assignment, the student’s name, the professor’s name, the course title, and the date. The cover page and the reference page are not included in the required assignment page length.

The specific course learning outcomes associated with this assignment are:

  • Explain the importance of situating a society’s cultural and artistic expressions within a historical context.
  • Examine the influences of intellectual, religious, political, and socio-economic forces on social, cultural, and artistic expressions.
  • Use technology and information resources to research issues in the study of world cultures.
  • Write clearly and concisely about world cultures using proper writing mechanics.

The Female writers in the 17th and 18th century, English homework help

here is the topic i chose and the proposal and references for the topic I want u to write a research about that topic i chose

Topic:

The Female writers in the 17th and 18th century

Thesis:

The female writers in the 17th and 18th century were challenged with expressing themselves in a patriarchal system and had to fight very hard against the injustice in the society.

Factual details about the thesis:

Aphra Behn was credited with being the first woman writer to earn a living by her pen around 1660.

Fanny Burney a famous writer had to overcome family disapproval in order to make a name among literature circles in the 18th century.

The women found creative outlet in private journal writing in like the captivity narrative of Mary Rowlandson which was published in 1682.

The purpose of the paper:

The purpose of the paper is to analyze the works and lives of the women writers in the 17th and the 18th century. The inspiration for their writings and the personal , social turmoil being undergone by them. The writings played a major role in helping in woman emancipation and also helped the women in fighting the injustice that was prevalent in the society.

Plan for conducting the research:

The research would be conducted by using credible scholarly resources and Britannica Encyclopaedia will be relied upon for facts and for various perspectives. For instance, Rexroth Kenneth writes an article titled Literature about the role literature played in the society. Apart from this some articles from scholarly journals can also be relied upon. The analysis would be done based on the evidence from various scholarly references. The article by Richter, N.L. ,titled, ”Female Writers in the 18th Century: The Power of Imagination” will play a massive role in research. There are some books as well which dwell on the same issue like the one titled, ‘Surpassing the love of men’ by Lillian Faderman which can be very helpful in research. Another one is a Description of Millenium Hall, and the Country Adjacent: Together with the Characters of the Inhabitants, and Such Historical Anecdotes and Reflections, as May Excite in the Reader Proper Sentiments of Humanity, and Lead the Mind to the Love of Virtue. By a Gentleman on His Travels. London: Printed for J. Newbery, 1762. First edition.

Reason for choosing the topic and what i want to learn:

The reason for choosing the topic is to understand the struggle that women were starting at that time. The issues that they were facing and how literature helped them vent their feelings, achieve liberation and also reach a very wide audience. I want to learn to learn more about the literature, culture, society and status of women in the 17th and 18th century.

Community Agency Vignettes

Community Agency Vignettes

Instructions: This assignment will ask you to pick one child vignette and research community

agencies that would support them. Please pick one of the child vignettes below and answer the

corresponding questions. In your response, please let me know which vignette you decided on.

Your questions should be answered thoroughly and include specific details regarding the

resources for each child. For example: If you would recommend referring the children the

Health and Family Services, what would you be referring them for? If you are going to

recommend going to a WIC office, what is the specific information that they will need and

where can they find the office.

Vignettes

Anthony

Three-year-old Anthony and his family are behind on rent. They are facing possible

homelessness and worrying they will run out of food. Many of these challenges can be linked to

the difficulty Anthony’s mother is having in finding steady employment. A consequence of

these stressors may be seen in how Anthony’s behavior has changed at his childcare. He has

become more socially withdrawn and has begun hitting and punching other children and having

tantrums.

Questions:

1. What resources might support Anthony’s family with housing and food? Please list the

specific resource information: (name, address, phone number and any other

information a family might need to have regarding these resources). Please be sure

that you include both housing and food resources.

2. What resources might support Anthony’s teachers to bolster all aspects of his learning

and development, including helping him to self-regulate?

Qasim arrived recently with his mother, father, and older sister, Daba, from Syria. Qasim is

three years old.

At home Qasim’s family speaks Arabic, but both parents are eager to learn English. Through an

interpreter, Qasim’s parents report that he has an extensive vocabulary and seems to be adding

new words and using longer sentences, in Arabic, each day.

The journey to San Diego was a perilous one. His family has shared that Qasim sometimes has

bad dreams about their journey that wake him up and require stroking, rocking, and soothing

words to get him back to sleep. His family calls him a “little professor” based on the fact that he

is extremely curious, quite perceptive, and very interested in how things work. To support his

English development and help him begin to feel at home, his family is sending him to a nearby

early childhood program each day. His teacher reports that he often seems withdrawn and

quiet, but is also watching the other children to see and follow what they’re doing. She

acknowledges that she doesn’t know any Arabic and is struggling with how best to support

Qasim and collaborate with his family.

Questions:

1. What resources might support Qasim’s family in their adjustment to their new

community? Please list the specific resource information: (name, address, phone

number and any other information a family might need to have regarding these

resources).

2. What resources might support Qasim’s teacher in her work with him and her

engagement of a family that does not speak English?

SEXUAL ASSAULT ON CAMPUS UNIVERSITIES, writing homework help

MY TOPIC IS SEXUAL ASSUALT ON CAMPUS UNIVERSITIES

DO NOT CHANGE THE TOPIC STICK EXACTLY TO IT. STICK MORE TO POLICY QUESTION CAN BE OBVIOUS ANSWER OR QUESTION ALREADY ANSWERED

Developing an argumentative question

You will need to develop a question to pursue within your topic that is interesting for your readers to read about and productive for you to research.

Here once again is the criteria for a good question.

1.The question is neutrally written, so that reasonable people could hold either side.

2.The question is binary, so the answer will be yes/no or A/B.

3.The question is one people are debating now, not a question where most of us agree to one answer.

4.You can find credible and timely research on the issue and you can understand this research.

Below I have listed common types of questions to help you frame yours. See the links on Ilearn under resources for the unit, unit two for places to find questions.

Sample kinds of questions:

Policy Questions—these kinds of questions ask what the official policy should be, like: Should the city or some official agency or the voters do A or B? The verb is usually “should”

Example: Should Californians pass proposition 64 which would legalize recreational marijuana in California?

Quality Questions— these kinds of questions ask you to evaluate something, like–Is X good or bad? Is it less or more desirable than the alternative? The verb is usually “to be—is/are/was/were”

Example: Is it wrong to watch football?

Conjecture Questions— these kinds of questions ask you to speculate about how something started or where it could go, like– Could it be changed? Can something useful be done? The verbs are usually “has/have” or “can/could” or “should.”

Example: Should car makers program driverless cars to follow the rules of the road exactly or to drive more like humans?

Causality Questions (very similar to conjecture questions) these kinds of questions ask you to determine the cause of something, like—Is A or B the cause of the problem? Or does something cause a problem or provide a solution? The verbs are usually “do” or “is/are” or “would/will” or “could.”

Example: Does the Pope’s Message on Divorce Weaken the Catholic Church?

Definition Questions— These kinds of questions ask you to define something’s significance, like–Is X really A or is it B? The verb is usually “is/are”

Example: Is marijuana a gateway drug?
