Several states have implemented mandatory arrest policies for domestic violence. In Module 04 you reflected on the Minneapolis Domestic Violence Experiment. Since the implementation of this research there has been an increase in dual arrest. This has created additional challenges.

Then consider this scenario:

Bob and Sue have been married for 10 years and have 3 children together: ages 7, 5 and 2. Bob struggles to maintain employment due to his alcohol addiction. Sue is a paraprofessional at her two children’s elementary school. Bob has been arrested three times for domestic violence. Last night their 7-year-old daughter called 9-1-1 and reported that her mom and dad were fighting. When the police arrived, Bob admitted to putting his hands around Sue’s neck. Sue was very angry when the police arrived and said that she punched Bob in the throat.

Based on the reading and additional research, your 1-2 page paper should answer the following questions. Be sure to support all of your responses and incorporate citation.

• What theory do you believe best explains why there has been an increase in female arrests for domestic violence? Support your answer.
• Which factors (as outlined in the article) are most important to consider in this scenario? Why?
• What questions do you believe should be asked of both parties in this scenario? Identify at least 3 questions.
• What desired response are these questions attempting to elicit?
• As the police officer, what will you do in this case? Support your response with research.

Comprehensive Lesson Plan (I have included my Week 2 work.)

You will create a comprehensive lesson plan to teach a fundamental skill for an early childhood physical education class (Pre-K to 3rd grade) by revising and adding to the plan you created in Week Two. Start by reviewing and assessing that the skill(s) in your lesson plan are developmentally appropriate by visiting SHAPE America page.

Your lesson plan should include the following components (note that Sections 1 and 2 are the same as the Week Two lesson plan; just be sure to include revisions and changes).

1. Title Page
2. Section 1: Lesson Information
   • Grade level (specify age/grade)
   • Estimated level of developmental stage for this age/grade
   • Number of students
   • Fundamental skill to be taught
   • State standard (see the list of PE standards and indicate which state)
3. Section 2: Lesson Introduction
   • Provide a brief description of the lesson
   • Create a student learning objective (e.g. “As result of this lesson, students will be able to demonstrate _________”)
   • Describe your system for classroom management and student grouping (e.g. class rules, consequences, rewards, and organization of the class during the activity)
   • Describe the equipment needed and the environment (e.g. classroom, gym, outdoors, etc.)
4. Section 3: Lesson Procedure

   Create a script for what the teacher would say while teaching the lesson and describe the following:

   • Introducing the lesson
   • Safety concerns, rules, and protocols to follow during the lesson
   • Teaching the skill and the method of assessment (refer to the lesson objective; how will you assess mastery of this skill?)
5. Section 4: Home-School Connection

   Create a flyer or email that you would use to communicate to parents.  It should explain at least one activity that the family could do at home that would reinforce the skill taught in the lesson.

6. Section 5: Lesson Accommodations

   Identify modifications and adaptations for each of the following scenarios:

   • Inclusion of a child with a physical disability (e.g. a child who uses a wheelchair)
   • The event of inclement weather or an altered schedule that forces you to change your location. Choose a different location to discuss (e.g. a smaller classroom as opposed to a gym)
   • Several children from a different grade are temporarily joining this class for this particular lesson
7. Reference page

   Include five to seven outside resources.

Your title page, lesson plan, and reference page should be in APA style as outlined in the Ashford Writing Center.  The lesson plan must be five to six pages in length, in addition to the title and reference pages.

Program Evaluation

Evaluate the hypothetical program that you created using the following types of evaluation: formative, process, outcome, and impact. Identify each type of evaluation that you are using and the part of the program to which it applies, program goals, and program accomplishments. Describe successful areas of the program and areas that need improvement. For the areas requiring improvement, present the changes that will be made, the anticipated outcomes, and how those changes would be evaluated.

Write a 15–20-page, double-spaced paper in Word format. Apply APA standards to citation of sources.

Utilize at least 7–10 scholarly sources in your research and be sure to include a references page. Write in a clear, concise, and organized manner; demonstrate ethical scholarship in accurate representation and attribution of sources; and display accurate spelling, grammar, and punctuation.

Assignment
Choose a subject appropriate for a descriptive essay. Be sure you are choosing a subject that lends itself to description. I recommend that you choose a thing, especially if you are not confident that you can describe a person or place without too much narration. Do NOT choose a concept or verb for this assignment. See the difference between abstract and concrete details, and try to use descriptive versus emotional information.
Take time to study your subject, making rough notes of descriptive elements, personal connections, and dominant impressions. During this initial observation, sketches, dual-entry lists, phrases, and passages of free writing can be particularly useful. Be sure to note objective sensory qualities (smell, touch, feeling, hearing, taste, sight) and subjective qualities (comparisons and images).
Write a coherent essay that describes your chosen subject. Bring your reader to the object of your observation and make them touch, feel, taste, hear, smell, and see the essence of the item that you have chosen to share.

Explanation
Each one of us moves about every day with rare and beautiful moments wherein we notice that we exist. The sweet air and sharp corners of these moments often remain smothered by the daily clutter of frantic scurrying and hurried conversations. I invite (and assign) you to breathe for a moment the neglected atmosphere of your surroundings and to share, in words, the elements that fill and surround and infuse your life. Show your reader one tiny snapshot of the world that only you can know, and then call upon your reader to experience more than two dimensions of that world by recreating the very object of which that snapshot was captured. Because this is a formal assignment, take great care in the growth and revision of your work.
