In order to prepare for this case study, you will need to review Chapter 13, “Police and the Law,” in your textbook. In your
case study, you will address the following:
 Analyze and explain the use of the exclusionary rule by the Supreme Court of the United States.
 Define how the exclusionary rule has affected the use of evidence acquired from police search and seizure cases.
 Compare and contrast each of the following cases and the effects that the ruling decision by the Supreme Court
has had on evidence obtained from police search and seizure.
 What constitutes a reasonable search (include information regarding the ways that the police can use probable
cause and execute a search warrant)?
 How is search and seizure governed by the Fourth Amendment?
 How do you feel that the police could have completed their searches in these cases more efficiently?
Base your case study on the following three cases:
 Weeks v. United States (1914)—Exclusionary rule applied to federal law enforcement agencies
 Rochin v. California (1952)—Exclusionary rule applied to all cases involving extreme police misconduct
 Mapp v. Ohio (1961)—Exclusionary rule applied to all law enforcement agencies (local, state, and federal)
The completed assignment must be a minimum of five pages in length, not including the title page and references pages.
You must include at least two references, one of which may be your textbook. The entire case study assignment must be
written following APA style guidelines. Therefore, the APA rules for formatting, quoting, paraphrasing, citing, and listing of

For this assignment, you will write a case study analysis that focuses on the communication strategy of an organization of your choice.

In this assignment, you will need to a) summarize the communication strategy of your chosen organization, b) analyze the communication strategy of your chosen organization, and c) explain how you would integrate the communication strategy into the current organization where you work or into a former organization where you have worked.

A. Summarize the Communication Strategy

Locate an article that discusses the communication strategies used by your chosen organization. After reading your chosen article, you may find the exercise below to be helpful in developing a summary paragraph. Identify the author(s) of your chosen article, and complete the following exercise:

[Insert author’s name here] discusses how innovative communication processes have helped [insert name of the organization here] resolve [insert issue here].

The top reason [insert author’s name here] holds that position is __________.

A second reason [insert author’s name here] holds that position is __________.

A third reason [insert author’s name here] holds that position is __________.

After filling in the blanks, you should have a list of the positions and claims made by the authors about your chosen organization. Shape your notes into a summary paragraph. (Do not simply include the list that you completed in the exercise above.)

Remember that the summary paragraph is where you will present information from the source. You will provide your analysis and interpretation in the following section of the paper.

B. Analyze the Communication Strategy

Be sure to include how the communication strategy impacts the organization on multiple levels. Feel free to use the four levels of sales, services, value chain, and continuous improvement as a model, which was discussed in the case study on the Dell Computer Corporation in the Unit VI Lesson. (Note: Your categories may be different.)

In the analysis portion of the assignment, discuss any problems (or potential problems) with the communications in your chosen organization, and provide potential solutions based on your research. Include ways that effective management could help to provide a solution.

C. Explain Integration Techniques

Finally, explain how this communication strategy could be integrated into your current or former workplace.

You will need to reference at least two academic sources.

Use the standard five-paragraph format (introduction/body/conclusion). APA format should be used. The assignment should be a minimum of three pages in length. Content, organization, and grammar/mechanics will be evaluated.

Individual Portion:

As a member of this team, you will need to choose 1 treatment model used in the type of treatment facility your team has decided to recommend. Also, how would you go about developing a plan using that treatment model to address 1 current issue that you will work to improve upon at a new treatment facility? Each group member should pick a different issue to address for his or her individual portion. For example, you might choose one of the following issues: dual diagnosis issues; MR/DD and addictions; mental illness and addictions; addictions and violence; domestic violence; violence in the workplace; criminal activity; sexual abuse; or child abuse and neglect. Individually, write a paper of 1–2 pages detailing the approach the new treatment center should take to address the issue. Be sure to include both short-term and long-term goals.

Jane is a mental health counselor working with adults who have been arrested for domestic battery. She works in a program funded by a non-profit organization whose mission is to prevent domestic violence by teaching anger management skills. Isaiah, a 24-year old male, has been referred to her for anger management counseling after he was arrested for punching his girlfriend during an argument the previous week. According to the arrest report, Isaiah didn’t think it was wrong to punch his girlfriend because, in his words, “She made me mad.” This is Isaiah’s first arrest. He has been required by the State Attorney to attend eight weeks of counseling in exchange for deferring, and ultimately not filing, criminal charges. Isaiah is restrained from returning to his girlfriend’s home, and he is currently sleeping on the sofa of a friend. Isaiah must leave his friend’s home and find another place to stay in two weeks. Additionally, he missed two days of work following his arrest and subsequent incarceration, and faces suspension from work and loss of pay for one week due to his unexcused absence. If Isaiah is charged with a criminal offense, he will lose his job. Isaiah has never had any counseling and was raised by his mother, who taught him that counseling was “for crazy people.”

Write an essay that addresses the following items:

Describe Isaiah’s physical, emotional and monetary needs.

Identify three challenges Jane will face while working with Isaiah.

What can Isaiah plausibly expect from Jane and the system?

Evaluate the likely successes and shortcomings of the services provided.

Describe the criteria you use to evaluate successful service delivery.

Describe one model or theory (i.e., Maslow’s needs theory, situational or developmental) that could help Jane offer support for Isaiah’s problems. Explain how Jane might apply the theoretical concept.

Discuss and cite the course textbook and at least one additional credible source to support your analysis and position. The CSU-Global Library is a good place to find this credible source. Your paper should be 3-4 pages in length with documentation and citations conforming to APA Requirements.
