For this weeks’ topic, let’s imagine how we’d like to “leave this mortal coil,” to “make our exit,” or to “start pushing up the daisies.” The chapter reading for this week gives us ample examples and suggestions, a kind of blueprint, for how we could image this. These range from the personally eccentric examples laid out in the “Going out BIG” section, to the monumental markers on an architectural scale laid out in the section on “Ego,” or would you prefer to be physically preserved forever for all to see?

These are just some starting points to get you inspired- you don’t have to answer these questions, they are meant to fire up some ideas within your brainstorming.

• Are there special items that you’d like to accompany your corpse? Maybe it’s that favorite light saber, lucky hat, wedding ring, your baseball card collection, an important religious object, or that 1967 Chevy Camero with white leather interior?
• Do you want to share your (cremated) remains among your loved ones? What should they do with them—put them in amulets on chains, in an urn on the mantle, or resting in more traditional place like a cemetery?
• Or would you select a burial, in your favorite car perhaps, in a custom Kane Kwei-style coffin shaped like a chicken, or in a giant crypt with your favorite 60” television, with a full bar and a butler, or with any of the other things you need in the afterlife?
• Do you want a ritualized celebration honor with fireworks, dancing, or the Pope, or any other religious figure’s, blessing?

These examples are all rooted in ancient traditions, the art of which is covered in this chapter, that predate our contemporary traditions. Keep in mind that these scenarios are imaginary, so be as creative as possible.

Here is an example from a recently deceased pet in my family. Milli, our basset hound was 15 years old when she died a few months ago. For your posts, make sure to provide images.

1. She is buried in the back yard, where family can visit anytime. It’s a quiet space, with other pets that have passed, which is a “community” gathering place, like a traditional cemetery.

Introduction: A one paragraph introduction needs to introduce the reader to the main topic(s) of the paper. Things you should consider including are answers to the following: Why is this topic important? What is the main purpose of your paper? Be sure to gradually introduce the reader to the topic and provide some context for understanding the articles.

Main Text: Pretend that the person who reads your paper has never read these articles. What key points would your reader need to learn about in order to understand the information? Organize your writing around your selected themes. Do not waste time providing research details that are not necessary to understanding the key points addressed. Remember the big picture and provide enough detail to make sense of the information — but not so much as to overwhelm the reader.

Conclusion: After discussing the main themes, wrap up with a conclusion. Be sure to tie your conclusion to the introduction.

Length: The entire paper should be three pages, NOT including your cover page and references.

Formatting: Use a 12 point font, standard double-spacing, 1 inch margins.

First Page: You may include a cover page if you wish, but the cover page does not count toward the 3 pages needed for this assignment. The first page of the actual paper should contain a centered title, followed by a blank line, then the text of the paper. See APA manual for examples.

Page Header: All pages of an APA text need numbered Page Headers in the upper right corner. The Page Header should contain your last name, a few words of the title and a page number.

Headers: The paper should have a header between the introduction and body, and parallel headers as appropriate throughout the rest of your paper. See APA manual.

References: The articles should be cited and placed in a reference list at the end of the paper (does not count towards the 3 pages assigned).

Style: All APA rules should be followed for headers, citations, references, etc., even if we have not yet highlighted them in class. Use your APA manual!

A company has experienced several lawsuits as a result of equal employment opportunity (EEO) infractions. No diversity training has occurred within the company to date. As a newly promoted manager in this organization, you are given the responsibility to determine the effects of implementing diversity training for all levels of the employees in terms of future litigation and EEO problems. Consider how diversity fits into the scope of organization development and how the organizational leaders may have to change to learn from these lawsuits.

Write an eight to ten (8-10) page paper in which you:
