The Rover literature writing-02

Write at least THREE paragraphs–5-7 sentences or more and use quotes to support your ideas–in which you talk about EACH of these prompts:

  • What repeating elements do you observe in reading The Rover? Choose something that seems to repeat and then write about how this repeating element creates meaning–comic or dramatic, romantic, etc.
  • Choose a theme from Lesson #3 that you see reflected in the play: the position of women in the play, or the different kinds of male figures, or the role of fathers/mothers in the play (or lack of them), or the way you might imagine the staging of this play would differ depending upon the theater, etc.
  • Reflect on the effect you think the addition of female actresses playing the women characters would have had on the audience (from Lesson #3); this might also lead you to think about the masquerading itself, which is essential in this Mardis Gras-time play.

Subject: HSS’s Strategic Plan

As a valued employee and Director of Human Solutions
Software, it is with great importance that I share with you the importance of a
professional HR function being part of the strategic plan at HSS. This is key
because,” Information overload and centrifugal goals cause employees and
organisations to spin away from their basic sense of purpose and direction”
(Hamel, 2009).

Other companies are on board with the every evolving HR
functions and this strategic plan will ensure that we are operational and
competitive just in the same. I encourage you to exercise HR functions within
this organization. The strategic plan with an understanding that, “HR is an
all-pervading function and it is the individual manager whose primary
responsibility it is to manage its human resources, blend them into an
effective team, manage their performance and address their needs and
aspirations, such as they achieve more.” “HR today, more than ever in the past,
is everybody’s business” (Hamel, 2009).

HR competencies, research, professional development, as well
as HR standards will solidify oppunities within our vast profession. This adds
value to the organization in shaping decision making and business practices.
Lastly, I’m confident that you will be satisfied with the strategic plan that
will mirror your vision of employee needs and management requirements.

Respectively,

Discussion 9

Over the weekend you read Williams (1981). In that text (while it may come off as sarcastic, lofty, etc.), Williams was arguing some important issues that have become foundational in how writing is taught (at the university level). Primarily, he argues that “errors” are really only important to address when they get in the way of a reader’s understanding. When communication breaks down, we have a “flawed verbal transaction” that we should address. But we shouldn’t address it by demeaning another person’s language use; we should address it by asking why they might have used language in such a way, and negotiating a way toward making meaning or understanding. These arguments will be more direct in the text your read tonight.

for Canagarajah’s texts read only pages 586-596)

– What connections should
we make between
Williams’ and
Canagarajah’s texts?
– What connections can
we make between these
texts and our broader
work with Genre?
– What does Almon’s
example tell us about
voices and genre?

Arguments and Meaning in Social Issues

Using the concepts learned through the readings and lecture pages, select one social issue that particularly interests you. Now find a newspaper editorial on the subject and construct an outline of an argument made on the subject. Be sure to distinguish between an argument and an explanation. For a good example of how you might approach this, see page 46ff of van Cleave (2016).

What are the main conclusions? Premises? What premises are missing? What is their conclusion? Using external scholarly sources, can you determine if the argument is sound? (Refer to Van Cleave, 2016, Chapter 1.) Is the argument inductive, deductive, or a mixture of both? You should employ the principle of charity to understand the argument at hand.

Financial Analysis, business and finance homework help

In anticipation of Mary’s request for comparative analysis, it will be useful at this time to do some research. You know that you can obtain the financials of companies within the same sector or Standard Industry Code as Apix Printing (e.g., commercial printing), and that the North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) Standard Industry 2012 code for Apix Printing is presently 323111. UseHoover’s Pro to search for two other companies in the same industry as Apix Printing.

When you get to work the next day, you see the following e-mail from Mary:

Here is the list of financial ratios you asked for. I need you to explain the computation of each and compute these for Apix’s results for the financial statements you are using for the PowerPoint presentation. Also, compare Apix’s 2-year trend results to that of two other firms in the sector. Indicate how each of Apix’s ratios differ, and indicate whether the two other companies’ ratios or Apix’s ratios are indicative of better performance.

Explain the computation for each of the following, and compute each for Apix and two other companies in the same industry as Apix Printing:

  • Current ratio
  • (Long-term) debt to equity ratio
  • Gross margin percentage
  • Net profit margin percentage
  • Return on equity percentage

Present your findings of the above data in a table. Add a paragraph that summarizes your results, indicating whether investors would find the financial analysis results of Apix competitive as compared to rivals in the sector. Be sure to include both positive and negative trends in your analysis.
