Differentiating Math Activities

Lesson planning is not just about planning what you want your students to know, but also planning for possible situations that might arise and solutions that can be used. Using academic and behavioral data, a teacher must plan for what each child is going to need to help them access the curriculum as well as any individual accommodations that will be needed. The time spent on planning helps to ensure successful delivery of the lesson.

Select a 3-5 grade level and a corresponding Arizona or other state standard based on the Number and Operations-Fractions domain.

Compose an aligning learning objective and design appropriate activities for a selected group of 3-4 students, of varying academic levels, from the “Class Profile.”

Using the “COE Lesson Plan Template,” complete the lesson plan through the Multiple Means of Engagement section, making sure the activities are supported by the recommendations found in the topic materials.

For your differentiated activities, specifically address:

  • Fraction tasks, including area, length, and set/quantity models; or
  • Equivalent fractions. In the Multiple Means of Engagement section, draft five questions you could ask students during the lesson that promote conceptual understanding related to fractions.
  • In the Multiple Means of Representation section, describe five potential issues and/or roadblocks that might happen while delivering the lesson, based on the needs of the selected group of students. Provide possible solutions to each potential issue.

APA format is not required, but solid academic writing is expected.

This assignment uses a rubric. Review the rubric prior to beginning the assignment to become familiar with the expectations for successful completion.

PICOT Question and Literature Search

The first step of the evidence-based practice process is to evaluate a nursing practice environment to identify a nursing problem in the clinical area. When a nursing problem is discovered, the nurse researcher develops a clinical guiding question to address that nursing practice problem.

For this assignment, you will create a clinical guiding question know as a PICOT question. The PICOT question must be relevant to a nursing practice problem. To support your PICOT question, identify six supporting peer-revised research articles, as indicated below. The PICOT question and six peer-reviewed research articles you choose will be utilized for subsequent assignments.

Use the “Literature Evaluation Table” to complete this assignment.

  1. Select a nursing practice problem of interest to use as the focus of your research. Start with the patient population and identify a clinical problem or issue that arises from the patient population. In 200–250 words, provide a summary of the clinical issue.
  2. Following the PICOT format, write a PICOT question in your selected nursing practice problem area of interest. The PICOT question should be applicable to your proposed capstone project (the project students must complete during their final course in the RN-BSN program of study).
  3. The PICOT question will provide a framework for your capstone project.
  4. Conduct a literature search to locate six research articles focused on your selected nursing practice problem of interest. This literature search should include three quantitative and three qualitative peer-reviewed research articles to support your nursing practice problem.

Note: To assist in your search, remove the words qualitative and quantitative and include words that narrow or broaden your main topic. For example: Search for diabetes and pediatric and dialysis. To determine what research design was used in the articles the search produced, review the abstract and the methods section of the article. The author will provide a description of data collection using qualitative or quantitative methods. Systematic Reviews, Literature Reviews, and Metanalysis articles are good resources and provide a strong level of evidence but are not considered primary research articles. Therefore, they should not be included in this assignment.

While APA style is not required for the body of this assignment, solid academic writing is expected, and documentation of sources should be presented using APA formatting guidelines, which can be found in the APA Style Guide

Wireless Network Implementation

For this part of your project, you will focus on wireless networking security.

Bering (Chicago) has decided that it needs to redesign its manufacturing floor network by opening it up to wireless access, so that those responsible for the flow of the manufacturing facility will have the ability to move around and access the manufacturing and customer databases anywhere and at any time on the floor using a variety of mobile devices.

However, having wireless access within the facility can potentially open up the network to a variety of attacks. These threats can come from individuals visiting the office, users within the office/on the floor and possible external threats (for example, the signal can be picked up outside the office as leakage as it is an easily intercepted medium and does not require a physical connection.)

You have been charged with addressing this redesign. In addition, you need to be aware of how your design will support policies regarding Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) and wireless communication. Review the example polices provided as reading for this Module as examples of the typical requirements that make up these policies.

Note: Workers on the factory floor use a mixture of devices including tablets and laptops.

You are required to create a design proposal in which you:

  1. Create a wireless access point diagram using the provided Floor Plan. Consider and note placement of all wireless access points:
    1. Diagram the placement and area of the signal coverage.
    2. Ensure overlap of wireless signals and ensure there is no “blank spots”.
    3. Minimize any potential signal leakage outside the facility.
  2. Address the following in the written part of your proposal:
    1. Analyze vulnerabilities of mobile devices in regard to usability and scalability based on your research and suggest methods to mitigate the vulnerabilities of mobile devices.
    2. Explain what types of devices you would use and any updates you would make to your previous networks diagram. Note: You are NOT updating the diagram itself.
    3. How do you plan to protect the network from rouge access points?
    4. How should all wireless access points be secured/hardened?
    5. Justify whether you are going to allow a guest network or not and if you are, how will you protect the network?
  3. Discuss how your design will support policies regarding Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) and wireless communication. Be sure to tailor this part of your project so that it is technically comprehensive and clear but does not rely on technical language to meet the expectations of the target audience of non-technical, executive leadership, and customers. Note: Review the example polices provided as reading for this Module as examples of the typical requirements that make up these policies.
  4. Provide a brief Executive Summary of how your design is meeting the strategic goals of the company outlined in the Course Project Introduction if applicable.

Notes on submission:

  • Insert the Visio diagrams into the body of your design proposal so that THEY are active and editable. You should not be using screenshots.
  • Use at least three (3) quality resources as references in this assignment. Wikipedia and similar Websites do not qualify as quality resources.
  • Use professional tone and vocabulary, APA format, and proper spelling and grammar.
