WRITING AN OBSERVATIONAL PAPER for art 101

Each student will create a Museum Project for this class. You have a choice of:

1) Writing an Observational Paper

Your project will be based on your analysis of an original work of art. You can choose any paintings, sculptures, decorative objects, pieces of furniture or stained glass windows, etc. exhibited in any of the museums listed below, so long as they were created sometime between Prehistory and the Gothic period. (Since this project is designed to compare/contrast two works of art, BOTH of your selections must come from within the scope of our class. Feel free to ask me if you are unsure of your selections. Ensure you are fully identifying your artworks (by artist, title, date, medium, current location, cultural origin, dimensions, and style). If you cannot make an in-person visit to a museum, you may select works of art from a museum’s online collection. Once again, the foremost requirement is that the work(s) belong to a style, movement, or time period covered in ART 101.

For the Observational Paper you must choose a work of art from one of the museums listed in “Museum Project General Description.” The most important requirement is that the artwork belong to a movement covered in our class.

1) You will write a paper on one original work of art. This is not a research paper. Your observations should be illuminated by the lectures, assignments and readings. It is important to choose something that you can discuss without doing further research.

A typical paper will spend the first two pages (or more) describing the art work in detail using terms learned in class (i.e. sculpture in the round, complementary colors, iconography, symbolism, function, etc.) and possibly providing some background about the artist.

2) In the rest of the paper, you will compare/contrast your original selection to one other artwork that we have discussed in the lectures for our class, with the goal of explaining how the works are similar and/or different. This second artwork must also come from within the scope of our class, from Prehistory through the Gothic period. If you decide to do outside research you may want to talk about the work’s significance or the social/cultural context that influenced its creation. How is the work a political statement or how does it show an innovative style, for example.

3) If you do use outside sources, they must be properly credited. Please use MLA format. If you are unsure about how to cite your sources, refer to: https://owl.english.purdue.edu/owl/resource/747/01/. Information quoted or paraphrased, or that is not “common knowledge,” without proper citations runs the risk of being misconstrued as plagiarised.

The paper should be double-spaced and composed in 12-point Arial or Times New Roman font. It must be a minimum of 800 words.

Create a mailer/ flier/ promotional piece for Morgan State University (Advertisement Paper)

Persuasive Message Assignment

Objective: Create a mailer/ flier/ promotional piece for Morgan State University. The propaganda aims to encourage high school juniors and seniors to apply to the University.

Format: The format of this assignment is arbitrary, meaning that it is up to you to design it. You control the visuals, the layout, the format, and the copy (text). Think about who your audience is and how this will be read.

Grading: Your piece will be evaluated on how well it applies the AIDA format to a limited space. Make sure that the work is balanced, that it is not too heavily visual or overly wordy. Ultimately, you must look at your final product with a discriminating eye to make sure that it is aesthetically pleasing and informative. Your advertisement MUST include both text and visuals. If you do not include both, then you will not get credit for the assignment.

Remember: You must get the students to act. This means not only that you must employ tactics discussed in class, but also that you tell the reader what you want him/her to do.

The assignment should be writing in Microsoft office one full page (single space)

part 3 parg 3

Please write a paragraph responding to the discussion bellow. Add citations and references in alphabetical order.

Research is the fundamental backbone of advancement on medicine and critical in identifying the most optimal use of medicine and medical equipment. In order to do so, researchers need to identify the most efficient method of evaluation according to what the study is about.

On one hand, qualitative research is characterized by understanding some aspect of social life and its methods are done using data other than numbers. They can seem imprecise at times but are very effective when used conducting a study that is measuring feels, opinions, or likes/dislikes. An example, if a study was conducting on which music station the patients prefers to be playing overhead in the hospital; the qualitative method would be the appropriate choice. It aims to understand the experiences and attitudes of patients, a community or healthcare workers in the health field. It focus on the ‘what’, ‘how’ or ‘why’ of a phenomenon.

On the other hand, a researcher that is conducting a study on how many people enjoy having music being played overhead in the hospital, it would be important to chose the quantitative method that focuses on the ‘how many’ or ‘how much’. Neither method is superior than the other, it is important for the researcher to choose the correct method that will correctly frame the study the researcher seeks answers for.

Decision options

1.In this case, management is presented with several decision options. For this assignment, you are required to provide a two to three single-spaced written memo evaluating options and providing recommendations. The written memo should be properly formatted according to APA guidelines and demonstrate research and critical thinking skills. Evaluations and recommendations should be supported by at least four scholarly sources from the Ashford University Library or other external sources, excluding the textbook.

In Question 1, evaluate each decision separately in full detail including calculations, as necessary. The evaluation should be included as part of the memo discussion, not a separate component. Evaluations can be included as appendices, exhibits or figures; however must be properly referenced within the written content.

In Question 2, prepare a comprehensive business memo addressing each decision and your recommendation. The memo should be properly formatted as a business memo and formatted according to APA guidelines.

An example of a properly formatted business memo can be found at this link http://owl.english.purdue.edu/owl/resource/590/04/ (Links to an external site.)Links to an external site..

Anser Questions

Dear All,

Welcome to Module 11!

After several weeks of intensive research, we are now refining our audience analysis skills further. The rhetorical challenge of Unit 3 is two-fold: 1.) can you appropriately translate an interdisciplinary topic beyond the fields it serves and 2.) can you appropriately translate scholarly, “insider” information for a public audience?

Please make sure you view the sample student projects posted on the assignment prompt, as well as the sample real-world models I included in the prompt itself. I can send out more examples upon request. As you begin to think about translating the interdisciplinary research you did for Unit 2 to a public audience rather than a scholarly one, consider your genre carefully. For instance, if you are passionate about your research topic, maybe you want to write an Op-Ed and advocate for a specific position, or you may want to design a blog for the general public where you contribute short, focused pieces. You have many options, so use the opportunity to be creative, to reach diverse audiences, and to experiment with different genres.

Unit 3 also draws on the shorter style analyses we have done over the course of semester, where we have considered tone, use of evidence, structure, perspective, and context in terms of research. You will be using these skills and applying them to your own audience analysis. Accurate, responsible, and accessible communication of research is incredibly important. Likewise, in this Unit we will also pay close attention to the issues of credibility and reliability of sites themselves, since being critical readers and consumers of news is necessary to be critical, responsible writers.

Module 11 Discussion Assignment: Considering Public Writing

Part 1: As you begin thinking about Unit 3, consider the unique challenges, opportunities, and limitations of public writing. What sources of public writing do you interact with the most, personally and in your field of study? How might your Unit 2 interdisciplinary research topic serve as a successful topic for public writing? How will you negotiate the particulars of translating interdisciplinary content for a mainstream audience?

Part 2: Article Analysis: As you read, ask yourselves these questions: What do you know about the publication? What do you know about the author, and what might you infer about his/her perspectives? What central argument does the author make, and what style elements does he/she use? Did the John Oliver clip and other resources on fake news influence your analysis and your reading? In a paragraph or so, respond to the article. What are your general impressions—do you agree with the central points? What do appreciate (or dislike) about the writing style? How did the style affect your reading experience? Please have a couple of cohesive paragraphs.

**Please note you can combine both parts into one post.
