Attribution Theory and Performance

Attribution Theory and Performance

Prior to beginning this assignment, be sure to read Chapter 4: Cognition, Learning, and the Environment, and read the article “Extending Attribution Theory: Considering Students’ Perceived Control of the Attribution Process”, the Instructor Guidance, and view the following website The Critical Thinking Community (Links to an external site.)Links to an external site. (http://www.criticalthinking.org/).

For this written assignment, you will demonstrate your understanding of attribution theory. In essence, attribution theory states that individuals tend to make sense of (logically prescribe) situations by associating them to self, others, thoughts, feelings, or actions. This theory suggests that learners should consider why they do what they do, and what or who they are giving credit for both the victories and the failures. Further, this theory suggests that if a person believes that they are not good at something, they may attribute their unsuccessful outcomes to external factors, rather than to themselves. In contrast, if individuals have success, they more often may attribute their successes to internal factors.

Using your required resources to support, discuss the following:

  • Describe a time where you feel you have failed and blamed someone else: the teacher, the friend, a loved one. (Failure could be academic, relational, and/or organizational – loss of a job.)
  • Do you believe that you blamed external things to support a more stable version of your own self-image? (In other words, it could not be your mistake). If not, what other reasons might external variables be attributed for our own performance?
  • How do think stability and controllability affect performance attributions, based on our reading this week?
  • Why do you think that self-efficacy plays such a critical role in how we process our learning behaviors?
  • What strategies could be applied to utilize what we know about self-perception and attributions to increase your learning performance in the future? (Minimum of two strategies.)

Suggested template.

Childhood Disorders Autism Spectrum Disorder

Autism Spectrum Disorders are among the most pervasive mental disorders of childhood. Children and adolescents diagnosed with the autism spectrum disorders possess impairments in social communication and interaction, as well as, restricted and/or repetitive patterns of behavior, interest, or activities. As a future professional in the field, you might seek a variety of resources to ensure that the child or adolescent, as a member of a vulnerable population, receives the most appropriate level of care for assessment and diagnosis.

For this Discussion, consider the criteria for a diagnosis of an Autism spectrum disorder within children and adolescents. Also, think about how symptoms of other childhood disorders might complicate a diagnosis of an Autism spectrum disorder.

With these thoughts in mind:

Post by Day 3 an explanation of the various criteria for a diagnosis of an Autism spectrum disorder. Then, explain how the symptoms of other childhood disorders might complicate a diagnosis of Autism spectrum disorder. Provide an example.

Be sure to support your postings and responses with specific references to the Learning Resources and current literature.

-Inquiry 3-

Then, do these two things:

1. Building on your work from class today, respond to at least two of these questions. You can focus on the question you worked on in your group or choose a different one–it’s up to you!

  • How does MLK present his character and cultural outlook/worldview?
  • How does he involve the audience in the emotion of anger?
  • What agreed-upon values does he invoke? How does he do it?
  • Who are his audiences? What are his purposes throughout the speech?

2. Reflect on the process. Here are some questions to get you started:

  • What did you take away from our rhetorical examination of “I Have A Dream”?
  • What did you learn from MLK about rhetorical decision-making?
  • How might this new knowledge inform you as a writer/rhetor when you read, listen, speak, and write?
  • Who do you think you are now as a rhetor/writer?
  • Thoughts, feelings, connections, questions

  • Do the same as above with a principle from McCloud. Use part of a comic (like Ms. Marvel) if you’d like.

Include a picture of each text that you discuss in your inquiry.

-Inquiry 5-

For this inquiry,

  • Read Phyllis Mentzel Ryder’s article “Beyond Critique: Global Activism and the Case of Malala Yousafzai” (~10 pages) (PDF under Files in the “Readings” folder on Canvas) (also downloadable here (Links to an external site.)Links to an external site.).

How have you pushed back against those negative conceptions? What “counter-conceptions” or counter-narratives have you created about yourself or want to create about yourself? (If you don’t want to talk about yourself, feel free to respond to this prompt by writing instead about a person or a group of people you care about.)
  3. What did you learn from Adichie’s talk? OR, choose an idea, insight, or quote from “The Danger of the Single Story” that stands out to you and write your thoughts and reflections about it.

For the Primary Document Analysis (PDA) papers this semester, you will select a single document or specified group of documents from the documents provided within each Unit’s PDA Assignment page. After reading your selected document please submit a written essay that:

1. Addresses the stated writing prompt(s) associated with the specific PDA assignment and selected documents.

2. Meets the stated MINIMUM length requirement for the associated writing prompt(s).

The Writing Assignments for this course should be written and submitted with the following formatting rules:

1. The essays should be Double-Spaced and written in Times New Roman font with a point size of 12.

2. The top, bottom, left, and right margins should all be the standard 1″ in size.

3. The single-spaced header on the first page should include your Name and Document # from which your analysis is drawn. There is no need for a header on any subsequent page. There is also no need for a Title. Please be aware that if you should decide to include in your submission a Title that this will not be counted towards your minimum length requirement.

4. You will be penalized for any submission that does not meet the stated minimum length requirement.

5. Because of the short length of these assignments, please avoid directly quoting the document unless it is absolutely essential to your argument. Instead, briefly paraphrase the passage(s) and focus instead upon providing your analysis and supporting your argumentation.

6. There is no need to provide a citation for the single document you are analyzing. However, if you have used outside sources beyond the document provided, please include citations using the MLA Format. This will include in-text citations and a Works Cited Page. The Works Cited Page should be on a separate page at the conclusion of your essay and will not count towards the minimum length requirement.

If you need any help with the above formatting guidelines or citing your sources, please do not hesitate to email me. A very good online resource for any college-level writing assignment is the Purdue Online Writing Lab (OWL).The following URL will lead you directly to their pages related to MLA citations: http://owl.english.purdue.edu/owl/resource/747/01/

Finally, there should be no excuses for attempting to use the ideas and/or words of any of your sources and attempting to pass them off as your own. Plagiarism will not be tolerated under any circumstances. Simply citing your source(s) does not give you permission to copy them word-for-word unless they are being directly quoted and placed in quotation marks. Even attempting to adjust the sentence structure or altering a couple of words in a source will not absolve you of charges of plagiarism. The skill of paraphrasing (or putting a source’s words or ideas into your own words) is not a simple one to acquire.

Writing a business letter

I want you to write a bussniess letter in this follwoing order, the bussniess letter would be to APA President about change in the teaching the diffrenece between men’s and women’s brain is just pysiological. because In my previous report, I presented evidence that men’s and women’s brain are similar according to the human anatomy. So since there is much argument about the psychological difference between men’s and women’s thinking Since I took more of a physiological side in that report, so I was thinking to address this letter to the psychological organization since I can discuss how biology explain that difference in thinking between men’s and women’s.

Business Letter Assignment

One of the most common documents written outside of school is the business letter, which may be a paper document or may be sent as an email. Your assignment has three parts.

The first is to identify a specific living person who is in a position to bring about a specific change that moves toward the position for which you argued in your report. They may be business owners or executives who can affect changes in their business that will affect employees or customers, politicians who can work towards enacting legislation that will affect the lives of citizens, or members of professional groups that can support change affecting the lives of professionals and the people affected by this work. You should write a short paragraph that explains why you have selected this particular person; that paragraph will be the starting point for a discussion board.

The second part of the assignment is to do some research on this person. This research should gather information that is relevant to the topic on which you will be writing. You may want to consider the goals of the organization or institution for which the person works; any pertinent actions that the organization has recently taken in regards to that position or their current posture to that topic; any statements that the person has made in the past about this topic or about similar topics. If personal details about the individual seem relevant, you may want to include them as well, but remember that this is not simply generic research on the person’s life. You should do a short write-up of your findings with a line or two on why each seems something you can use. This, again, will be part of a discussion board this week.

The third part of the assignment is the actual business letter, which will be given the separate grade indicated on the syllabus. This letter should ask the individual you have researched to take a specific action that moves toward the position for which you argued in your report. The letter should follow the format of the samples. Successful letters will create an argument that is intended specifically to persuade this particular individual, focusing on providing her or him with motivation for making these changes rather than on your own reasons for supporting this action.

Attached is the bussniess letter that I want one similar to it.
