Hannah
Easton is not exactly an immigrant to colonial 17th century India
because she does not settle there permanently. She returns to Salem,
bears and raises a daughter, lives a long life, and dies in 1750 (284).
However, apart from the character of Venn Iyer (Beigh Master’s boyfriend
from MIT who is the computer scientist behind the X-2989 program),
Hannah Easton is our novel’s only transnational migrant.
