Lesson 1 Texas Government Foundations

Choose ONE of the following topics to answer for the Writing Assignment:

1. Explain the influences that shaped the Texas Constitution of 1876. Explain the individuals and groups that played a role in drafting the document, and the sentiments held by those individuals and groups that resulted in the specific governmental design set forth in the constitution. There are people who have advocated revising the Texas Constitution for years. What are some of their specific reasons for wanting the Constitution revised? Do you think the Constitution should be revised to be more like the U.S. Constitution? Why or why not?

2. Provide an understanding of the relationship between the national and state governments. What is the term used to describe the relationship between the national and state governments in the US? What part of the Constitution grants powers to the states and what are these powers called? If there is a dispute between national law and state law, how does that dispute get solved? Give an example of a recent conflict between a state (or several states) and the federal government. Explain which powers are held by the national government, which powers are reserved to the states, and those powers shared by both the national and state governments.

Choose ONE of the topics above for your writing assignment. Answer all questions posed for that topic. You do not need to attach a file with your writing submission, you can choose “write submission” and type it there directly or copy/paste it from your word processing document.

The Lesson Writing Assignments are worth 50 points each. Submissions that are more comprehensive and detailed will earn a higher point total. You need several paragraphs (minimum 500 words). You cannot just write two or three sentences and expect to receive points. Make sure that you cover all parts of the question. I have added some current event articles you can read to help with your assignment. You can emphasize your point by using information from one of the linked articles, the textbook, or add your own current event or other examples (including the experiences of you or someone you know). It helps to include data in your assignment (such as voter turnout rates, incarceration rates, etc.). I want to see that you have read the material and understand the topic, so make sure you are specific in your answers.

Finally, make sure you do not just cut and paste information from an online source. I also suggest that you wait until your Lesson 1 assignment has been graded before moving on to the other lessons. If you have any questions, please contact me through the Messages link.

My project is about developing a device to reduce car speed at school zone:

The car speed sensor device will be able to detect the speed of the car and will reduce it automatically to the required speed. It will entail two devices, one in the school zone and the other in the car. When any car reaches the school zone area the sensor will activate the second piece in the car and force the car to reduce the speed to the school zone speed.

Car Speed Sensor to Reduce Accidents Near the School Zone

Abstract

The purpose of school zones is to alert drivers of the presence of children coming and going to school in order to promote a safer environment for them to travel through. Some drivers traveling through these zones choose not to respect school zone laws while others are distracted behind the wheel. Every year in the United States, at least 100 children are killed in collisions while walking to or from school. About half of all deaths of children in or near school zones. The Transportation Research Board reports that 25,000 children are injured every year in school zone accidents.

Children are easily distracted as they have a limited attention. Their brains have not fully developed thus they are likely to make poor judgments about distance and speed within the school zone. Child road safety has not been a priority for long. Even if some measures have been put in place like speed pumps and other speed limit signs, accidents within the school zone have not been fully eliminated. It is therefore paramount to take necessary innovations that will protect them. Further, most drivers ignore speed limit signs and that is the main reason why speed bumps and speed limit signs have not been effective. Considering the situation, it is paramount to come up with the measure that it is impossible for it to be ignored by drivers.

Interview 3 person

Our specific research question for the project: “What are consumers’ value perceptions/consumer perceived value ($/benefits) regarding the upcoming iPhone X being the first $1,000 smartphone?”

Specific sample 3 participants. 1 male, 2 female

Depth interview and answer those question:

Link to iPhone X overview: https://www.apple.com/iphone-x/

  • Do you currently own any generation of iPhone? If no, have you ever owned an iPhone?
  • Do you plan to buy the iPhone X? If yes, do you plan to buy it as soon as it is available or wait to buy it later (a few months)?
  • If no, why do you not want to purchase the iPhone X?
  • Do you think smartphones in general are getting too expensive, or do you think the advanced features and technology warrant higher prices?
  • Does the iPhone X’s base price of $1,000 deter you at all from wanting to purchase the smartphone?
  • Do you think the iPhone X’s features/specifications (12MP wide-angle and telephoto cameras, Portrait mode, 4K video recording, facial recognition software, 5.8-inch, all-screen display, etc.) merit its $1,000 price tag?
  • With some of the iPhone X’s features/specifications in mind, do you think the iPhone X is a quality smartphone?
  • Do you think the iPhone X would satisfy your wants as a smartphone?
  • Imagine you own the iPhone X; how do you think you would feel about using the latest, cutting-edge technology on a daily basis?
  • How do you feel about Apple coming out with two new iPhones within a close time period (the iPhone 8 released on September 22nd, 2017; the iPhone X will release on November 3rd, 2017)?
  • Given the price and technology difference between the two latest iPhones (iPhone 8, $699; iPhone X, $999), do you think it is worth purchasing the iPhone X rather than the 8/8 Plus?

Reflecting on Learning, writing homework help

Write a two to three page reflection paper addressing the following questions.

  • What have you learned about the world around you?
  • What have you learned about creating and maintaining relationships with others?
  • What have you learned about yourself and the way you learn?
  • What have you learned about your responsibility to others?

Procedural Law and the Bill of Rights, law homework help

The Bill of Rights finds its roots in documents such as the British Magna Carta of 1215 AD. It was one of the first documents that provided the common man independence from a monarch. It did imply that the federal government’s law dominated all others; however, it gave each state control of any laws outside of those reserved to the federal government. The Bill of Rights acts as a blueprint that every individual state uses to protect the rights of individual citizens. In this assignment, you will utilize the various concepts found in the Bill of Rights to provide the foundation of the various sections of the question.

Write a four to six (4-6) page paper in which you:

  1. Compare and contrast two (2) of the sources of rights and fundamental principles found in the United States’ legal system as outlined by the text.
  2. Critically analyze and discuss two (2) steps of the criminal justice process from arrest to imprisonment.
  3. Identify and discuss the particular amendment related to arrest, search and seizures.
  4. Compare and contrast the concepts of probable cause and reasonable suspicion. In your own words, explain how they are similar or different.
  5. Examine and discuss the two (2) examples in which the exclusionary rule may not apply.
  6. Identify and discuss one (1) contemporary issue or case law related to the use of force.
  7. Use at least four (4) quality references. Note: Wikipedia and other Websites do not qualify as academic resources.

Your assignment must follow these formatting requirements:

  • Be typed, double spaced, using Times New Roman font (size 12), with one-inch margins on all sides; citations and references must follow APA or school-specific format. Check with your professor for any additional instructions.
  • Include a cover page containing the title of the assignment, the student’s name, the professor’s name, the course title, and the date. The cover page and the reference page are not included in the required assignment page length.

The specific course learning outcomes associated with this assignment are:

  • Research and analyze procedures governing the process of arrest through trial.
  • Critically debate the Constitutional safeguards of key Amendments with specific attention to the 4th, 5th, 6th, and 14th Amendments.
  • Describe the difference between searchers, warrantless searches, and stops.
