All of us have examples of when at a sacrifice to ourselves we helped others. We also have examples when there was a need and we didn’t help. Think of those times and give a personal example of when you helped and another personal example of when you didn’t help. The text describes a variety of factors that impact when and why a person helps or doesn’t help. There are all kinds of reasons for helping or not helping. A few possible reasons are listed below.

Reasons You Didn’t Help:

  • You were in a hurry
  • You had another obligation you couldn’t be late for
  • You didn’t feel you had the skills or abilities to help
  • You mind was focused on something else
  • You were uncomfortable or fearful because the person was different in some way from the people you usually associate with
  • The problem was happening in a dangerous area and would have put you at risk
  • It appeared others would help
  • You assumed others would help
  • You didn’t think it was your responsibility
  • You didn’t realize there was a problem until after it was too late to help
  • You were unsure if there was a problem
  • You were unsure how you could help
  • You needed time to think through what you should do and by that time the opportunity to help had passed
  • You were in the midst of some major stressors that made it impossible for you to help
  • You thought the person having the problem was experiencing it because of their own negligence or lack of planning and you thought they needed to deal with the consequences on their own
  • The person was the opposite sex and you didn’t think it was appropriate for you to help

Reasons You Did Help:

It was a friend or family member you cared about

  • You were worried what others would think if you didn’t help
  • You’d want somebody to help you if you were in a similar situation
  • You had been helped by someone when you had a problem and so you felt you needed to return the favor
  • You’d feel bad if you didn’t help
  • You’d worry about the person if you didn’t help
  • You’d violate your values if you didn’t help
  • You feel good about yourself when you help
  • You just help without really thinking about it because that’s who you are
  • The person seemed distraught and so you wanted to help
  • You think people need to help others more
  • You felt you were supposed to help in this particular instance

For this assignment:

  1. Describe in detail a situation where you helped.
  2. List out the reasons you helped and explain why those reasons were important to you and motivated you to help.
  3. Explain how the situation worked out and then give your perspective of why it was a good idea or a bad idea to help and explain how this experience has influenced how you handled or would handle similar situations you encounter after this experience.
  4. Then repeat the steps for the situation where you didn’t help; First describe the situation.
  5. List out the reasons you didn’t help and explain why those reasons were important to you and motivated you not to help.
  6. Explain how the situation worked out, if you know, give your perspective of whether you think your response was a good or bad response, and explain how this experience influenced how you handled or would handle similar situations you encounter after this experience.

biology 102

I need you to reaply to these two paragarphs down below separately

it is like making  COMMENTS  about them

NOTE : start with I agree , good point , and expression like these /

The first paragaraph :

One misconception that many girls seem to believe is that the “morning after pill” will be the only contraceptive one needs in order to prevent becoming pregnant. The truth is, there are many alternatives — birch control, condoms, and even abstinence.

Although the morning after pill can be effective, there are is always a slight chance it could not prevent a pregnancy. According to The Planned Parenthood website, it states that “Levonogestrel pills, including the brands Plan B One-Step and Next Choice One Dose, are up to 89 percent effective when taken within 72 hours (three days) after unprotected sex. They continue to reduce the risk of pregnancy up to 120 hours (five days) after unprotected sex, but they are less effective as time passes.” (Morning-After Pill (Emergency Contraception)) As it clearly states, these pills can be proven to be 89% effective, but it still makes me wonder about the other 11%.

Although this pill could help ease one’s anxious “am I pregnant or not” thoughts, the morning after is not the only contraception needed; the chances are highly probable of preventing pregnancies, but it is also possible that it will not work in every case.

THE SECOND PARAGRAPH :

According to stayteen.org there are many misconceptions teens have about sex, one that caught my eye was that many teen girls believe they can’t get pregnant the very second they begin taking birth control pills. Since the pill is a hormonal form of birth control it may need up to one month or menstrual cycle to become completely effective and many doctors recommend using a second form of birth control, such as condoms, the first month a woman is on the pill. While researching the misconceptions among teens about sex, pregnancy, and STI’s I found it alarming how misinformed teens in the country seem to be. I think the main cause of these misconceptions is the stigma that is attached to sex and bodies from a very young age. Children and teens learn about the repercussions of sex but are rarely given the tools and information needed to make safe decisions about sex. Some schools don’t even have sex education in their curriculum or only teach abstinence as a form of avoiding pregnancy, if teens were taught about alternative forms of contraception early on, perhaps there would be less unwanted pregnancies.

analyze research study

Reread the full text of the study you selected in Week One. Evaluate the study and write a critique, using the textbook and relevant journal articles to support your analysis of the study. Use the following section headings and content in your paper.

  1. Introduction
  • State the purpose of the paper. Clearly identify the study being critiqued, by title and authors. Summarize the research question, hypothesis (if a quantitative study), and background information on the topic from the study’s literature review. Did the authors present a well-balanced summary of current knowledge about the topic? Is there any apparent bias in the literature review?
  1. Methods
  • Differentiate the research design (experimental or non-experimental) and approach (qualitative or quantitative), sampling method, and data collection methods. Indicate the sample size, variables and measures (if a quantitative study), statistical tests (if a quantitative study), coding and analysis procedures (if a qualitative study), and any assumptions made by the researchers. Were the procedures chosen appropriate for the study? What alternative methods would you suggest?
  1. Ethical Aspects
  • Analyze ethical issues pertaining to this study. Did the researchers explicitly address ethical issues in the article? If not, was there evidence in the report that the participants’ safety and confidentiality were protected? Was an approval process by an Institutional Review Board or similar ethics review committee mentioned? Were any of the practices ethically questionable (deception, coercion, etc.)?
  1. Results
  • Present a summary of the results of the analysis performed in the study. Did the authors keep their interpretations and conclusions separate from the analysis results (evidence)?
  1. Discussion and Conclusion
  • Analyze and critique the conclusions drawn by the researchers. Do the conclusions follow logically from the results of the analysis? Evaluate the overall efficacy of the research study by identifying the strengths and weaknesses of aspects of its design and implementation. Identify the limitations noted by the researchers and add any limitations you see that were not mentioned in the article. Describe the directions for future research proposed by the authors and evaluate their appropriateness. Recommend at least one idea for a future study that will overcome some of the limitations of this study. Keep in mind that this suggested future study will serve as the basis for your Final Paper.

Your paper should be four to six pages in length (excluding title and reference pages) and formatted according to APA style as outlined in the Ashford Writing Center. Utilize a minimum of five sources that were published within the last 10 years and are documented in APA style, as outlined in the Ashford Writing Center. These sources should include the article being critiqued, at least three peer-reviewed journal articles, and the course textbook. It is recommended that you visit the Research Methods research guide in the Ashford University Library for suggested articles, as well as searching for articles in the Library’s databases.

Carefully review the Grading Rubric (Links to an external site.)Links to an external site. for the criteria that will be used to evaluate your assignment.
