Based on the readings 3) through 7) in the coursepack (i.e. from CP-3 to CP-7), please answer the following three questions:

  How does capitalism compare with pre-capitalist economic systems with respect to the organization of the economy?

 

Discuss: a) the role of markets VS alternative institutional mechanisms (i.e. householding, reciprocity, redistribution or tradition & command), and b) the relationship between the economy and the society (i.e. embedded/disembedded economies).

  How does the feudal ideology compare with the ideology of capitalism? Include in your answer a discussion of the following aspects: a) motives of economic behavior (i.e. material gain VS other drivers); b) price determination (i.e. “just price” VS market price); c) organization of manufacturing production (guilds VS capitalist enterprises); d) economic targets (i.e. social cohesion/reproduction of the system VS profits/economic growth).

  What can you say about the social/economic/political/environmental changes brought about by capitalism? (Please do not repeat your answer to question 1); base your answer on CP-7).

Why we need t End War on Drugs After watching the TED talk about why we need to end the war on drugs, you are to write a response to the ideas presented in the talk. I agree with the arguments from the Ethan Nadelmann, the speaker of the TED talk entitled “Why we need to end War on Drugs.” Several nations especially the United States had fought the war on drugs, but the demand for drugs and crimes are still increasing rather than decreasing (Nadelmann, 2014). Some of the typical illegal drugs in the United States are marijuana, cocaine, methamphetamines, heroin and club drugs. Regardless of prohibiting these drugs in the United States, the number of individuals arrested each year on drugs is unbelievable. In 2016, the number of people arrested in the United States due to the violation of drug laws was estimated to be 1,572,579. Among this number, 84.7% were arrested due to possession of illegal drugs while 15.3% was arrested due to manufacturing and sales of drug (Reznicek, 2012). These statistics imply that the war on drugs will never end in the United States………
