Consider a random walk among 3 points labelled {a,b, c}. Each minute, she makes a move, and her movements are dictated by the following constraints that follows:(i) If (current position) equals (previous-minute position), then go to any one of the other two positions with equal probability;(ii) If (current position) does not equal (previous-minute position), then continue to stay in current position during the next minute. Please answer the following questions:(a). Determine the state-space, such that the system evolution can be described by a Discrete Time Markov Chain. Justify your answer. Draw the state transition diagram, with the states labeled and the edges labeled with the transition probabilities.(b). Is the Markov chain irreducible and a periodic?

You are an international marketing consultant and have been approached by a large organisation in your domiciled country. The company has recently expanded overseas and is now seeking your advice on how to develop the market. You are to propose a market development plan. In particular you must address the following factors:- 1. Provide an overview of the current organisation including its overseas strategic vision, mission and competitive position. Relate the vision, mission and positioning to the organisational readiness for overseas expansion. (1000 words) – 20 marks. 2. Conduct a country comparative analysis to suggest which country they should enter. Your comparison should be limited to 3 countries and should include barriers of entry, culture, market profile and target market segmentation as well as competitor analysis. (2000 words) – 40 marks. 3. Discuss and analyse key factors that need to be considered when setting product pricing for the company’s international markets. (1000 words) – 20 marks. 4. Discuss and analyse the critical factors that need to be considered when developing a new distribution strategy. Recommend an appropriate distribution strategy for the international target markets for this business. (1000 words) – 20 marks. Critically discuss the appropriate market segmentation for market penetration. (1000 words) – 20 marks. Excellent/ good answer [Excellent/ good students will critically examine and discuss some of the critical factors that needs to be considered when exploring the appropriate segment of the international market. They will be expected to provide a logical and cogent critical discussion and provide an answer containing academic and conceptual depth. The difference between excellent and good is likely to be in the areas of the extent of criticality provided in the discussion, the degree of focus on the specific question asked, structure, professional presentation and critical evaluation. A good range of sources will be used in the answer and the work will be properly referenced. Students will answer with reference to the selected market entry model.]

(Defending territory) General A is defending territory accessible by two mountain passes against an attack by general B. General A has three divisions at her disposal, and general B has two divisions. Each general allocates her divisions between the two passes. General A wins the battle at a pass if and only if she assigns at least as many divisions to the pass as does general B; she successfully defends her territory if and only if she wins the battle at both passes. Formulate this situation as a strategic game and find all its mixed strategy equilibria. (First argue that in every equilibrium B assigns probability zero to the action of allocating one division to each pass. Then argue that in any equilibrium she assigns probability ½ to each of her other actions. Finally, find A’s equilibrium strategies.) In an equilibrium do the generals concentrate all their forces at one pass, or spread them out? An implication of Proposition 113.2 is that a nondegenerate mixed strategy equilibrium (a mixed strategy equilibrium that is not also a pure strategy equilibrium) is never a strict Nash equilibrium: every player whose mixed strategy assigns positive probability to more than one action is indifferent between her equilibrium mixed strategy and every action to which this mixed strategy assigns positive probability. Any equilibrium that is not strict, whether in mixed strategies or not, has less appeal than a strict equilibrium because some (or all) of the players lack a positive incentive to choose their equilibrium strategies, given the other players’ behavior. There is no reason for them not to choose their equilibrium strategies, but at the same time there is no reason for them not to choose another strategy that is equally good. Many pure strategy equilibria—especially in complex games—are also not strict, but among mixed strategy equilibria the problem is pervasive. Given that in a mixed strategy equilibrium no player has a positive incentive to choose her equilibrium strategy, what determines how she randomizes in equilibrium? From the examples above we see that a player’s equilibrium mixed strategy in a two-player game keeps the other player indifferent between a set of her actions, so that she is willing to randomize. In the mixed strategy equilibrium of BoS, for example, player 1 chooses B with probability 2 3 so that player 2 is indifferent between B and S, and hence is willing to choose each with positive probability. Note, however, that the theory is not that the players consciously choose their strategies with this goal in mind! Rather, the conditions for equilibrium are designed to ensure that it is consistent with a steady state. In BoS, for example, if player 1 chooses B with probability 2/3 and player 2 chooses B with probability 1 3 then neither player has any reason to change her action. We have not yet studied how a steady state might come about, but have rather simply looked for strategy profiles consistent with steady states. In Section 4.9 I briefly discuss some theories of how a steady state might be reached.

Assignment 2: Analyzing World Cultures

Media play a very large role in both the development and the perpetuation of cultural elements. You may never have watched a foreign movie or even clips evaluating other cultures. In this assignment, you will explore online videos or movies from a culture of your choice and analyze how cultural elements are presented, compared to your own culture.

Complete the following:

  • Choose a world culture you are not familiar with.
  • Identify two–three online videos or movies representative of this culture. These could be examples of cultural expressions such as a Bollywood movie from India or Anime videos from Japan.

Evaluate two hours of such a video. Using the readings for this module, the Argosy University online library resources, and the Internet, research articles about your selected culture.

  • Select a scholarly article that analyzes the same culture presented in the videos you have observed.
  • Write a paper describing the cultural differences you have observed in the video. How are these observations supported by the research article?

Be sure to include the following:

  • Describe the videos you have watched.
  • Explain the main points of the videos.
  • Examine what stood out about the culture.
  • Compare and contrast the similarities and differences of this culture with your own.
  • Examine the ways of this culture. Is it one you would want to visit or live in?
  • Would you experience culture shock if you immersed yourself in this culture? Why or why not?

Support your statements with examples and scholarly references.

Write a 2–3-page paper in Word format. Apply APA standards to citation of sources. Use the following file naming convention: LastnameFirstInitial_M2_A2.doc.
