activity in which you will analyze the article following the Ask,
Research, Learn, Do process. This process was introduced in your
webtext as a simplified version of the sociological research
process. It’s a useful tool to help you think critically, answer
questions, and solve problems.

Students,

I was disappointed in the overall grades for the assignments this week. Several of you did not use APA to format your papers nor use the example provided at the beginning of the course. The students that did use those resources received high grades because they were able to meet the criteria of the assignment.

For week 4, make sure you use APA for your papers. Address the strengths and weaknesses of each question. The example provided demonstrates how the paper should be set up with headings.

Read the comments on your papers. If you did not format your paper at all I only wrote on the paper not in APA.

Make sure the references you are using are peer reviewed and within 5 years unless it is a classic. The most common peer reviewed resources are books and journals. Websites are not peer reviewed, especially websites. Slideshare is not a peer reviewed source. Stay with books and journals for your references.

Part 3: Write your essay comparing the poem to the works of art.

Here are sample questions to consider in your discussion once you have read the poem and viewed the
works of art (You may choose your own questions when evaluating the literature to the artworks.):

• How can you relate the poem to the scenes depicted on the works of art? Is the narration depicted
on the works of art in way different than what you read in the poem? If so, provide a brief description
of what sees different in
your analysis.
• How has the artist chose to illustrate these scenes of the story?
• In your opinion, which artwork best illustrates the scenes depicted, the vases or the statuette?
• How would you describe Odysseus? How does he react to the situations he finds himself in? Odysseus
is known as the “quick-witted” and “wily” one. Does this story support his nickname? Why or why
not?

How Do I Respond to This?

In this scenario, you are part of an online class business class which is studying diversity in the workplace and diversity training. The prompt asked about the purpose of diversity initiatives/trainings, and how they can benefit business. A student posted what he experienced at his workplace diversity training not too long ago. A second student replied to his post, but with a very different “take” on the topic.

You got lucky. My job makes us attend these stupid trainings for diversity every year, and they are a complete waste of time. I mean, I am not going to be mean to lazy people who don’t do their work because they come from cultures where people don’t work hard. I know it’s not their fault that they were raised that way, and I guess they do ok for who they are and all, but that doesn’t mean I have to like picking up their slack. But that’s the world today, we have to accept everyone and everything.

Your job is to respond to the second post and maintain professionalism while you do. Your response should defuse the situation (rather than make it worse).

POST 2:

In our lives, we can find many tasks that can be completed using an Excel spreadsheet. Discuss an application for an Excel sheet in your personal life or at your work or expected career. Also, discuss at least two Excel functions you find helpful ( which haven’t been posted already). Perform research on those two functions of your choice and tell us what they do, how they work and an example of how you would use them at home, work or an activity.

William Penn is credited with saying, “I expect to pass through life but once. If therefore, there be any kindness I can show, or any good thing I can do to any fellow being, let me do it now, and not defer or neglect it, as I shall not pass this way again.” This statement is similar to the idea behind “paying it forward,” or performing a random act of kindness for a stranger, who in turn would do another random act of kindness for another stranger, and so on. This is a philosophy popularized recently by Starbucks and the media.

Relationship of Height and Weight

• Using the given Height and Weight data set, follow the steps in the weekly video or on pages 584-585 of the textbook for performing a regression analysis using Excel to analyze the Height and Weight Data set (assume height is the input variable x and weight is the output variable y).
• Once you have performed the analysis in Excel, state the correct simple linear regression equation and use the regression equation to predict the weight (in pounds) of a person who is 65 inches tall and the weight (in pounds) of a person who is 100 inches tall.
• Why might the regression equation you have found not be a good predication of the weight of someone who is 100 inches tall?
