The project is a series of elements where you will examine the
current standing of an organization’s compensation system. In the final
element of the training program, you will provide recommendations to
the organization on how the compensation program can be improved.

Directions

Students will conduct an analysis on the current state of the compensation system and address the compensation of special groups including executives, role of unions in compensating the employees, any international compensation, and any other extraordinarily compensation elements that impact this organization. Reference should be made to these different factors that impact the organization.

The body of the paper will be 4-5 pages. This does not include extraneous pages like title page, reference page, appendices. APA formatting standards are required. A minimum of 5 scholarly resources need to be used. An example of a scholarly resource can be an interview with an HR professional or a peer reviewed article from a University Library Journal Database. Course materials and personal experience do not count. A formal third person tone is required.

Supplemental information (e.g. worksheets that are currently being used) can be presented in Appendices but do not count toward the body of the paper.

Note: Recommendations should not be made at this point – you will make these later in the term. This is an analysis of current standing. Keep in mind however, if an organization doesn’t have a labor union, the paper doesn’t end at that point. Student needs to include a discussion of the different extraordinary elements of the compensation system. Again, recommendations will be made later in the term.

James is an African American heterosexual male who is also a counselor at a community mental-health center. Though James does not outwardly reject others with different sexual orientations, he is not empathetic toward people struggling with sexual identity issues. James feels that homosexuality is morally wrong and against his religious beliefs. However, James understands that as a counselor he must not discriminate against anyone – including sexual minorities. Clarence, a new client, has revealed that he is homosexual and is having difficulty admitting his sexual orientation to his family and others close to him. Clarence has also states he fears being rejected by his church congregation. He states that being abandoned by the church would further “shame his family” but admits that he cannot keep his life a secret anymore.
