Students must submit a 200-word proposal of their project. You will probably not have articulated your argument when in the proposal stage, but you should have questions that you intend to pursue (and the answers to these questions will become your argument as you research). Let your research guide your argument rather than constraining your research to fit your predetermined idea. The narrower your question(s), the better! As you work, ask yourself: How does this topic build upon our classroom studies? What questions will guide your research of this topic? What resources will you use? The topic proposal must include a list of three scholarly sources you plan to use in this project, correctly formatted in Chicago bibliography style.
